Al-Qaeda in the Islamic State of Iraq claimed credit for a complex prison break in Tikrit that freed 83 prisoners last month.
The Long War Journal reported:
The Islamic State of Iraq, al Qaeda in Iraq’s political front, claimed credit for a complex assault on the Tasfirat prison in Tikrit that freed more than 100 prisoners, including dozens of terrorists.
In a statement that was released yesterday on jihadist Internet forums and translated by the SITE Intelligence Group, the Islamic State of Iraq said it executed the Sept. 27 prison break. The terror group said the operation was part of its “Destroying the Walls” campaign, which was announced at the end of July by Abu Du’a, the Islamic State of Iraq’s emir. In that statement, Abu Du’a said that emphasis would be placed on efforts “to release the Muslim prisoners everywhere.”
In yesterday’s statement, al Qaeda in Iraq detailed its complex attack. The group claimed that “silenced weapons, hand grenades, and explosive belts” were smuggled into the prison, and then operations were coordinated between the “imprisoned brothers inside the jail” and the assault team outside.
The prisoners seized control of the prison “while their brothers on the outside kill the main gate’s guards by detonating a parked car bomb and cutting off all roads leading to the security compound against the support patrols,” according to the SITE translation. The car bomb is thought to have been detonated by a suicide bomber.
After taking control of the prison, the al Qaeda fighters attacked the prison archives and destroyed “the data and database of the prisoners and those who are wanted,” according to SITE. “Also, sensitive documents were taken and that which could benefit the apostates in pursuing the mujahideen was burned.”
Al Qaeda in Iraq claimed that the operation resulted in “the death and injury of nearly 80 apostates,” and the escape of “tens” of its fighters. News reports indicated that two Iraqi policemen, an Iraqi soldier, and 11 al Qaeda in Iraq fighters were killed during the fighting.
And yet Barack Obama wants us to believe that Al-Qaeda is defeated.

AQI continues to make tremendous progress in strengthening. Prior to Obama, they were diminished with their network substantially disrupted. They were misled into fighting in Iraq where it became a kill zone for the radicals. Now, they’re growing at exponential rates, particularly benefiting from Obama’s naive post-neoliberalism that throws out old tyrants and leaves a vacuum under the absurd belief that democracy will naturally grow.
But does anyone care? Obama, the weakling faux-Putin, parades and preens about how “he got Bin Laden”, Drunk Uncle Joe brags about how they did the surge in Afghanistan (with a fraction the troops the commanders required) and now are kicking the “towel-head sand-negros” in the ass telling them to defend their own damn country.

things that should never be said for wide consumption. i can’t play poker to save my life but i’d probably stand an even chance to beat obama. he doesn’t know how to play a winning hand [when it counts]. i know people that will tell you what they’ve won at the casino but not what they lost – which puts the whole thing in perspective. if you can beat an adversary back with a BLUFF it will save a whole lot of money and lives.

“But does anyone care? Obama, the weakling faux-…” being perceived as weak is dangerous. shades of carter and clinton. it’s better to not appear weak as it is costly to correct that impression. why go there if you don’t have too.

That’s nothing. Up here in ma authorities are preparing to release anywhere from 500 to thousands of criminals because a female lab worker “mishandled”(possibly on purpose)27,000 cases. We are not being told the exact number of prisoners and what they are accused of doing, but a small group of people will be meeting in auditoriums with these large groups of convicts preparing them for freedom. The small group are tasked with requesting that this LARGE group of criminals not do anything illegal while they await POSSIBLE re-trial.

squeaky: The utter fiasco that constitutes our weak foreign policy is further evidence that Obama is not a Muslim. I’m rather limited in my studies of Islam, with most of it related to early faith texts that are related to early Western philosophy, as much of the European philosophical tradition owes credit to translations of Ancient Greek philosophy from Islamic scholars back when interfaith tolerance and respect was much more welcome in Islamic lands.
That said, my understanding is that Islam profoundly disdains weakness in both its people and those outside the faith. There are numerous examples of Western warriors captured in battle by Islamic leaders but released due to the honor in their courage and fierceness. Weak, unprincipled weasels like Obama are despised. Under Clinton, AQI grew rapidly as it saw the west as corrupt, perverted and decadent and Islam subsequently commanded by their God to conquer and destroy the diseased nations. The films that anger them aren’t those critical of their faith and its leaders, but the everyday trash Hollywood puts out.
And look at the Western culture celebrated: rappers in stretch limos pimping out women, idle narcissistic actors and sports celebrities who bathe in excess riches while doing nothing meaningful for society. Yappy dogs sick with derangement like Bill Maher and Michael Moore. Lazy fools who become celebrities by demanding other people be robbed to pay for their contraceptives so they can have excessive sex out-of-wedlock like Sandra Fluke. These are the idols of the Democratic party and the primary enemy of faithful Muslims.
Obama is hated more than either Bush, and even more than Clinton, for his weakness, his dishonesty, his idle, lazy nature. He’s not even a worthy opponent. Perhaps it takes going through this realization that AQI has grown massively through just four years of weakness for some Americans to have an epiphany.

Al Qaeda in Iraq claims it smuggled weapons into Tikrit prison for brazen jailbreak
[.................]
Now, according to the officials who spoke to the AP, the extremist group has set up training camps for insurgents in the nation’s western deserts, seizing on regional instability and government security failures.
U.S. officials have said that some al Qaeda militants have crossed the border into neighboring Syria, joining domestic rebel groups in the fight against long-time dictator Bashar Assad.
Most of the fighters bolstering al Qaeda in Iraq’s resurgence are believed to be former prisoners who have either escaped from jail or were released by Iraqi authorities for lack of evidence after the U.S. military withdrawal last December. Many are said to be Saudi or from Sunni-dominated Gulf states.
Pentagon data shows al Qaeda in Iraq is now carrying out an average of 140 attacks a week.
