This was horrible.
Radical Catholic “Nun on a Bus” leader Sister Simone Campbell spoke at the DNC Convention this week. The far left nun lied about the stance of the US Bishops in order to attack Republican Paul Ryan.
LayCatholics.org reported:
Sister Simone Campbell of NETWORK (A national social justice lobby) and “Nuns on the Bus” fame spoke at the Democratic National Convention on September 5, 2012 in Charlotte, North Carolina. In an effort to deceive Catholic voters, Sister Campbell opened her speech with the lie, that the Catholic Bishops stated the Ryan budget failed a basic moral test.
She falsely said:
“Paul Ryan claims his budget reflects the principles of our shared Catholic faith. But the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops stated that the Ryan budget failed a basic moral test, because it would harm families living in poverty.”
The problem is that the Catholic Bishops (Bishops’ Conference or United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB)) never stated this.
The proof is she took a similar statement made by a committee inside the USCCB named the “Committee on Domestic Justice and Human Development” and said it was from the Catholic Bishops (USCCB.) More importantly, the Catholic Church purposefully denies committees inside Bishops’ Conferences authority as stated in the Catholic Code of Canon Law’s chapter on Bishops’ Conferences, Canon 447-459…
…Sister Campbell makes her false statement in the first minute of her speech. You’ll also notice that she says “we agree with our Bishops,” even though there was nothing to agree on in this matter.
FYI: Sister Campbell also didn’t agree with the US Bishops on defending our Religious liberty during the Church’s battle with the Obama Administration over HHS mandate.

Look I am catholic and I dont care what the church has to say on policies that so called hurt people in poverty… They can talk about birth control issues and freedom of religion but economics should be something they worry about in their own house. Shut up and preach religion…not politics
anna commented:
I feel sorry for her..Wanna be Nun
pjean commented:
The fascinating thing I’m finding in these outspoken nuns is that people are one, afraid to question them and two, they assume they could never be misled enough to make false statements. I’m Catholic, so I’ve always held the orders of nuns in high regard. However, as I grow older, I realize that nuns are still human. They will be wrong just like the police, judges, your doctor, your spiritual leader, your parents and yes, politicians.
Blacque Jacques Shellacque commented:
I wonder whatever happened to that “separation of church and state” stuff…
malclave commented:
Shame, shame, Sister… maybe you should read up on the Ten Commandments.
mg4us commented:
Sister, don’t you know it is a sin to lie and an even graver one to purposely mislead and hurt people. . .
I think you need to amend your ways, and go to confession or be ex-comunicated. . .
After all Jesus did not take kindly for hypocrites and false religious (pharisees) spreading man’s law instead of God’s law. .
So what say you to Nays for God at DNC or the Boos?
And Abortion? How about the killing of a still living aborted baby? Obama supports that.
And the diss Cardinall Dolan originally received. . .
Satan can take many routes to enter ones heart Sister. . .repent before it is too late.
The GOP will welcome and forgive you!

What did Cardinal Dolan say to her?
FurryGuy commented:
So a nun, who renounced the world and embraced poverty, is supposed to be an expert on worldly economics?
SoLongSong commented:
I feel the same way about Harry Reid being a Mormon. As #4 pjean said: “Nuns (or people from any faith) are still human.”
To that I’d add, there’ll always be a small portion of them who are downright WRONG.
Gail commented:
I say liar, liar pants on fire! So there little miss none!
anna commented:
Cardinal Dolan probably said ” Crawl under your rock honey. We’ll deal with you old smelly hippies later”.

Another CINO. Catholic In Name Only.
stonedome commented:
wow, a nun that is a liar…guess that’s why she’s been excommunicated.
kato commented:
Which nuns are not radical these days?
kato commented:
I’ll go farther than #4. I was taught by sisters through the 6th grade, and I had a great deal of respect for them. Today, I wouldn’t want the occupant of a convent anywhere near a child of mine.
Teresa commented:
She’s a Sister not a Nun. There is a difference. The group she represents is nothing more than left-wing radicals.

#2 bigkahuna, I think you’re a Good Guy, but:
economics IS a moral issue. it just needs to be explained and Republicans only do a half-decent job at it. Conservatives do better, and there is a case out there, “The Moral Case for Capitalism”.
What is capitalism? it is economic freedom.
the newly freed peoples who suffered long under Soviet Communism can tell you all about the moral case for economic freedom, which leads to freedom of the human spirit because it advances individual sovereignty which is directly related to Liberty- which protects Religious Freedom. You’ll notice there is never any Religious Freedom under Socialists/Communists.
if the greatest system ever developed to advance the living standards and freedom of the most people is capitalism then isn’t that a moral good? wouldn’t that be advancing the best Christian notions about how to help the most people possible, especially those buried in generational poverty?
and as far as the Church staying out of economic issues: it was the black Church, notably led by that Doctor of Theology, the REVEREND! MLK, who advanced the argument that an oppressive system of segregation was unduly burdensome to the economic prosperity of an entire race of people- so after some laws were changed, ECONOMIC opportunities opened up which had long been denied.
yeah, that was The Church that led that charge, and God Bless Them for it.
(not saying ANYTHING! about what has happened since)
if there are new moral imperatives, then a Church’s power of persuasion (which is All MLK had)
is welcome. The purely secular argument will never win the day against the Religious fanatics of Leftism. (this is also true if you wish to defeat Islamists)
That’s Why the Big Lie from these heretics/traitors is especially harmful and… sinful.
God Will Not Be Mocked.

It takes great courage to be a nun these days.
Joe Blow commented:
How do they justify a political party that pushes doing away with unborn babies any time through pregnancy? It doesn’t make moral sense.
