U.S. Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyoming) delivered the Weekly GOP Address today. Following the awful jobs report yesterday Republicans bash President Obama for having the worst jobs record of any President since World War II.
In the Weekly Republican Address, U.S. Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyoming) says, “The undeniable truth is, President Obama is on track to have the worst jobs record of any President since World War II. When the President was hyping his so-called stimulus program, his economic team claimed unemployment would not go above 8 percent… Instead, it’s been higher than 8 percent for 43 straight months.”
Here is a partial transcript:
“The reality is that America is not better off than it was four years ago.
“Today, 23 million Americans are unemployed or underemployed. Many are our friends, neighbors, and family members.
“The undeniable truth is, President Obama is on track to have the worst jobs record of any President since World War II.
“When the President was hyping his so-called stimulus program, his economic team claimed unemployment would not go above 8 percent, and that it would be below 6 percent by now. Instead, it’s been higher than 8 percent for 43 straight months.
“It’s bad enough the stimulus money was wasted. Even worse, he borrowed the money, much of it from China.
“Household incomes have dropped by more than $4,000, while the cost of everyday living has gone up.
“Gasoline prices have gone up another 30 cents a gallon in just over a month. Americans recently paid the highest prices ever on a Labor Day weekend.
“One out of every seven people in America is now on food stamps.
“In terms of global competitiveness, the United States has dropped for four straight years. When President Obama took office, we were number one in the world. Now we’re number seven.
“American businesses are at a competitive disadvantage because our tax rates are the highest in the developed world.
“Americans know what works: low taxes, reasonable regulations, and living within our means.
“President Kennedy understood that. He said: ‘Persistently large deficits would endanger our economic growth and our military and defense commitments abroad.’
“He said that 50 years ago, in 1962. Washington’s budget deficit that year was $7 billion.
“From $7 billion then, to a $1.2 trillion deficit this year.
“For every year since he took office, President Obama has spent at least a trillion dollars more than Washington took in, all of it borrowed.
“Under his watch, government spends too much, borrows too much, and grows bigger every day.
“President Obama’s record of failure has come at a great cost to our country and our future.
“The President’s policies have failed to produce the results, accountability, and solutions the American people deserve. The Obama Administration is simply not moving our country forward.
“It’s been said that, faced with his record, the President has changed his hope and change message of four years ago to one of divide and conquer today.
“More presidential rhetoric, and a plea for more time, won’t heal our economy.
Agreed.

In 2012, the number of available jobs has diverged downward,
and markedly away from the already-abysmal unemployment rate.
This means there are less jobs available to support more people.
As Glenn Reynolds says, if something can’t go on forever, it won’t.

How any American who loves his country could still vote for obama is beyond me.

FactCheck to Obama Camp: Your Complaint is All Wet
[The Obama campaign complains that we got a key fact wrong in our June 29 article, “Obama’s ‘Outsourcer’ Overreach.” We strongly disagree. We find the Obama campaign’s evidence to be weak or non-existent, and contrary to statements Romney has made on official disclosure forms under pain of federal prosecution.
The Obama complaint claims we erred in saying Mitt Romney gave up active management of Bain Capital in early 1999 to run the 2002 Winter Olympics, insisting we were then wrong in saying Romney was not responsible for shipping U.S. jobs overseas.
In fact, if the Obama campaign were correct, Romney would be guilty of a federal felony by certifying on federal financial disclosure forms that he left active management of Bain Capital in February 1999.
And after reviewing evidence cited by the Obama campaign, we reaffirm our conclusion that Romney left the helm of Bain Capital when he took a leave of absence in 1999 to run the Salt Lake City Organizing Committee for the 2002 Winter Olympics – as he has said repeatedly — and never returned to active management. The Obama campaign’s recent ads thus mislead when they point to investments made by Bain, as well as management decisions made by companies in which Bain invested, after that time.
The Obama campaign’s objections are contained in a six-page letter sent to us (and — without notice to us — to other news organizations as well). It cobbles together selective news snippets and irrelevant securities documents in an attempt to show that Romney was still running Bain Capital on a part-time basis while he was also running the Olympics committee.
In a nutshell, the Obama campaign is all wet on this point.]

Obama’s crony capitalism and new
regulations drive jobs overseas ….
[Before he died, Apple CEO Steve Jobs reportedly told President Obama
to adopt more business-friendly policies, because "regulations and
unnecessary costs" had made it difficult to build factories in the United

and a managing director at Bain Capital. Lavine, who has raised over
$100,000 for the president, was at the firm when GST Steel declared

left Bain, irresponsible for GST Steel’s demise, but Lavine, who was there,
is not? Expect to hear more about this connection.]

State unemployment rates rise in 44 states

Patty commented:
all that has to be done is a lowering of job numbers and Obama will win? Really, I find that interesting that if unemployment goes down, then Obama could WIN? Really, that is what Obama is hoping for but who among us will believe anything from this administration or put past anything they will do to win.
I am a voter that has seen what Obama has done and it appears IT ISN’T JUST ABOUT JOBS.
He is a failure with lack of leadership, maybe in Chavez nation but HERE?
Anyway, Taxes will go up, Gas prices will go up, and THE WALLET will be the Vote.

Now the depressing details of the jobs report:
Pethokoukis:
http://www.aei-ideas.org/2012/09/the-awful-awful-august-jobs-report/
– Nonfarm payrolls increased by only 96,000 in August, the Labor Department said, versus expectations of 125,000 jobs or more. The manufacturing sector, much touted by the president in his convention speech, lost 15,000 jobs.
– Since the start of the year, job growth has averaged 139,000 per month vs. an average monthly gain of 153,000 in 2011.
– As the chart at the top shows, the unemployment rate remains far above the rate predicted by Team Obama if Congress passed the stimulus. (This is the Romer-Bernstein chart.)
– While the unemployment rate dropped to 8.1% from 8.3% in July, it was due to a big drop in the labor force participation rate (the share of Americans with a job or looking for one). If fewer Americans hadn’t given up looking for work, the unemployment rate would have risen.
– Reuters notes that the participation rate is now at its lowest level since September 1981.
– If the labor force participation rate was the same as when Obama took office in January 2009, the unemployment rate would be 11.2%.
– If the participation rate had just stayed the same as last month, the unemployment rate would be 8.4%.
Sickening..He’s an empty suit, a miserable failure and he’s got to go in November.
Patty commented:
Romney win, first and foremost, get rid of Obamacare. Obama will have a little nerdy hissy fit.
Then drill, but then, Tax reform and get rid of the massive regulations on industry.
But one thing that is the most important and every Republican president has had to go back and repair the damage the democrats have done to our NATIONAL SECURITY AND MILITARY.
It is one mess Obama has given Romney but he will fix most of this, hopefully for 8 years and beyond we will take back America and the White House.
Obama has never had leadership ability and speeches are even becoming lack luster, dismal and really a real bore.
Patty commented:
Here you go! This is beyond puzzling. The liberal mind is out of the world.

the jobs are one problem but the Obamster is just ordering regulations done and there is
no deliberation and the Congress is useless. That includes the weak GOP.I’ll vote for romney but I have doubts he is tough enough to unwind the EPA and banking and the rest… He is not a strong constitutionalist. We have lost the country and need to focus on the states we have left.
The Gop is pretty useless…
My friends say that jobs in their business are being lost because the ObamaNoCare won’t certify existing health plans. So one employee supply co let go 80 staff(!!!) I agree. What a bunch of self-serving hacks. Even the supposed Tea Party electees, who disappeared without so much as a whimper. All we heard was the excuse that they only control 1/2 of 1/3 of the government, barely a spending cut proposal from the lot of them, when we should have heard a barrage of cut proposals every single day.
