Islamists stormed the German Embassy in Sudan today raising the Islamic flag and setting fire to the building.
Reuters reported:

Sudanese demonstrators broke into the German embassy in Khartoum on Friday, raising an Islamic flag and setting the building on fire in a protest against a film that demeaned the Prophet Mohammad, witnesses said.

Police had earlier fired tear gas to try to disperse some 5,000 protesters who had ringed the German embassy and nearby British mission. But a Reuters witness said policemen just stood by when the crowd forced its way into Germany’s mission.

Demonstrators hoisted a black Islamic flag saying in white letters “there is no God but God and Mohammed is his prophet”. They smashed windows, cameras and furniture in the building and then started a fire, witnesses said.

Firefighters arrived to put out the flames.

Employees of Germany’s embassy were safe “for the moment”, Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle said in Berlin. He also told Khartoum’s envoy to Berlin that Sudan must protect diplomatic missions on its soil, a foreign ministry statement said.

It was unclear why the two European embassies were singled out since the film, which has outraged Muslims, was made in the United States, and U.S. diplomatic missions have been attacked by Islamist protesters in a number of Arab countries.

The Islamists also stormed the British Embassy in the Sudanese capital.

This is not the time for a “who lost Egypt?” debate. Egypt, Libya, Tunisia and Yemen are far from lost. The only smart course is to redouble our efforts

  16. Excepted remarks from the naive and incompetent Barack Obama to the United Nations in September 2011:

“And in that effort, we have reason to hope. This year has been a time of extraordinary transformation. More nations have stepped forward to maintain international peace and security. And more individuals are claiming their universal right to live in freedom and dignity.

Think about it: One year ago, when we met here in New York, the prospect of a successful referendum in South Sudan was in doubt. But the international community overcame old divisions to support the agreement that had been negotiated to give South Sudan self-determination. And last summer, as a new flag went up in Juba, former soldiers laid down their arms, men and women wept with joy, and children finally knew the promise of looking to a future that they will shape.

One year ago, Egypt had known one President for nearly 30 years. But for 18 days, the eyes of the world were glued to Tahrir Square, where Egyptians from all walks of life — men and women, young and old, Muslim and Christian — demanded their universal rights. We saw in those protesters the moral force of non-violence that has lit the world from Delhi to Warsaw, from Selma to South Africa — and we knew that change had come to Egypt and to the Arab world.

One year ago, the people of Libya were ruled by the world’s longest-serving dictator. But faced with bullets and bombs and a dictator who threatened to hunt them down like rats, they showed relentless bravery. We will never forget the words of the Libyan who stood up in those early days of the revolution and said, “Our words are free now.” It’s a feeling you can’t explain. Day after day, in the face of bullets and bombs, the Libyan people refused to give back that freedom. And when they were threatened by the kind of mass atrocity that often went unchallenged in the last century, the United Nations lived up to its charter. The Security Council authorized all necessary measures to prevent a massacre. The Arab League called for this effort; Arab nations joined a NATO-led coalition that halted Qaddafi’s forces in their tracks.

In the months that followed, the will of the coalition proved unbreakable, and the will of the Libyan people could not be denied. Forty-two years of tyranny was ended in six months. From Tripoli to Misurata to Benghazi — today, Libya is free. Yesterday, the leaders of a new Libya took their rightful place beside us, and this week, the United States is reopening our embassy in Tripoli.

This is how the international community is supposed to work — nations standing together for the sake of peace and security, and individuals claiming their rights. Now, all of us have a responsibility to support the new Libya — the new Libyan government as they confront the challenge of turning this moment of promise into a just and lasting peace for all Libyans.”

Obama the Boob. Obama the Rube.

  17. Obviously these recent incidents are well orchestrated. The mere fact that they are occurring in places where Obama interfered in their politics (Libya), had his soaring speech at (Cairo, German embassy) and destroyed with drones.
My problem with this election is that the GOP are pathetic. Where is the GOP leaders?Where is Boehner and the senate minority leader? Why are they not holding press conferences and pilling on to this administration?Obviously they are hiding under their desks. Where are the surrogates and the governors? They are too busy to be bothered with winning. Imagine if this was happening under a Republican president. Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid and all the imbeciles will be lining up to have a press conference and make themselves available for interview to drop their talking point.
That brings me to Romney. Does this guy want to win? He needs to forceful in his speeches. He needs to be aggressive in going after these media cabal that will never stop. Believe me, they will call all the debates for Obama and Biden. His only hope is to start now to be aggressive. He needs to have press conferences, put out his statements, challenge Obama’s mind boggling policies and mock the media’s questions. He needs to tie Obama-Pelosi-Harry together as one big recking ball to our economy and constitution. He should articulate that the economy started going down the drain when Harry Reid and Pelosi took over.
Why are the so called consultant paid all these money to be incompetent? Are we not seeing the same trajectory we saw with McCain? Obama can say anything but nooooo Mitt can’t fight back. Just be nice to him. Unbelievable!!!
