Wasserman Schultz Ties Paul Ryan to Todd Akin …Update: Cook Political Moves MO Senate to Likely Democrat

That didn’t take long…
DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz tried to tie Paul Ryan to Todd Akin.
Daily Kos reported:

CNN reports that Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz has pointed out the similarities in Reps. Paul Ryan’s and Todd Akin’s positions on abortion.

The issue is particularly sensitive for Ryan, a devout Catholic and staunch anti-abortion politician who has previously expressed opposition to abortion in all cases except when the life of the mother is endangered.

A Romney-Ryan campaign official, speaking on condition of not being identified, confirmed to CNN that Ryan’s personal view opposes abortion in the case of rape. The campaign official said Ryan’s stance differed with Romney’s view, which was described in the statement Sunday and is the formal position of the GOP presidential ticket.
Democrats immediately challenged the Romney-Ryan team on the issue.

“They’ve been trying to distance themselves from it — but Congressman Ryan has already partnered with Akin on a whole host of issues that restrict women’s ability to make their own health care decisions,” said a statement by Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee. “This kind of ‘leadership’ is dangerously wrong for women.”

It’s just beginning.

UPDATE: Cook Political moves Missouri Senate to likely Democrat.
“Republican U.S. Rep. Todd Akin’s comment over the weekend about “legitimate rape” has rendered him unelectable in his bid against Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill. As such, the race moves to likely Democrat.”

“Congressman Ryan has already partnered with Akin on a whole host of issues that restrict women’s ability to make their own health care decisions,” said a statement by Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz.”

TOO flucking funny, in light of ObamaCare’s impositions on EVERYBODY’s health-care choices.

To say NOTHING of their private medical records.

  • MrGoodWench

So Obama is tied to white and jew haters like LooWee Farakhan , Zulu , muslim brotherhood and hamas , right ?

  • But taking money from Planned Parenthood, an organization that hides rapes and fails to report rapes and helps rapists destroy the evidence of the rape is just fine with Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee.

  • Mad Hatter

Does this mean that we can tie Joe Biden to the Minnesota Congressman that met with a 17 year old boy at a rest stop for sex?

  • Mad Hatter

    It’s not over yet folks,

If Akin does not drop out by today’s deadline, he has until September 25th to withdraw via a court order. In that scenario, State law would require Akin to cover any costs for reprinting ballots, and the GOP central committee would select a substitute candidate.

They have 28 days from a candidate’s withdrawal to name a replacement, so if Akin drops out today, Missouri Republicans would need to select a new candidate by September 18. It’s almost certain they would probably try to name someone much sooner, and in fact I’d be surprised if they haven’t already quietly done so in the expectation Akin may yield to nationwide calls from Republicans and pull out.

  • pagar

Once again (pointing out) we have a President that has voted to let American babies die on store room shelfs,
not once but over and over, in order to preserve the alleged right of women to kill inconvenient kids. Candidate Akin has never done so. IMO, Candidate Akin has the better position.

I haven’t heard of such DOWN RIGHT HATE ever, like this election. I really worries all of us.

The democrats have said we will kill the elderly, throw the over a cliff, that the Republican candidate is a felon. Now, they are putting Ryan in the same category as Akin.

This small town boy, picks himself up by the boot straps and becomes a U.S. Congressman.

A real family man and the thought that this little hair brain no body can speak in such harsh and demeaning language to Ryan’s character, well, if they were to win, can you only imagine what horror awaits us all.

Looks like Governor Sarah Palin gets to say “I TOLD YOU SO” –

Check out the headline below from the Hill dated Aug. 12. Governor Sarah Palin endorsed Sarah Steelman in Missouri and not Todd Akin:

(In light of the very weird political drama unfolding right now in Missouri, Governor Sarah Palin’s endorsement of Sarah Steelman sure seems politically wiser than the endorsement of Rep Todd Akin! I don’t know anything about Steelman – I did not follow the race closely – but I can’t imagine anyone could be a more difficult candidate for the Republican Party than Akin. He potentially hands the race to his political opponent Sen Claire McCaskill plus supplies the Democratic Party with more ammo supporting their assertion that there is a Republican war on women. Read the story below and click on the link to read more….and tell me what YOU think about all this.)

  • Winston Wolfe

And now do you Akin defenders get what some of us were saying?
    Why Akin had to go?
Why other candidates are coming out and denouncing his comments?

Because it’s not about Akin. It’s really not even about the Missouri Senate seat.

It’s about the Left – taking one, stupid statement from one of our candidates – and tying it around the neck of every other Republican running for office.

    That’s why.

  • Ace

It’s the GOP’s fault for letting this scumbag get on the ticket in a crucial senate race.
    They deserve what they get.
If you think the GOP is ever going to get us out of this current disaster—you’re crazy.
It’s going to take a generation to fix this. And a new party.

The biggest message the GOP should drive home on ” a woman’s right to make her own health decisions” is to allow women – AND NOT GOVERNMENT – to make those decisions.

Government should have no role whatsoever in women’s control over their bodies……government is not moral or good enough……this kind of decision to give birth or not should be guided by the churches and parenting institutions in our nation.

You would not know whether I am pro-abortion or anti-abortion or pro-contraceptives or anti-contraceptives from what I have said.

I promise you I am Pro-Choice – A woman’s right to choose on her own without any creepy old politicians and government bureaucrats making choices for her.

Today’s Democrats are actually the greatest Anti-Choice party in America’s history – they need to back off or they will find out what choice really means in November.

You know what is wrong with the Repub party? They are a political party and not a church and should remember it.

Akins made one of the most stupid statements I have ever heard anyone say and I find it extremely offensive. I would like to slug him over it.

Is Akin a bad man? Do not know but I do know he is one stupid ***.

Is Obama a bad man? YES. He voted to not save a baby that survived abortion. This is a really bad man that we need rid of and Akin has singlehandedly done more to damage that effort than millions of dollars, DNC and all the Scoopers in the world.

We have an election coming up, not a conversion or baptism.

  • valerie

Now, we are down and dirty into the slim of Politics. I find this whole matter offensive. But not fully Akin, not his statements so much, but why did he have to get into the weeds.

Define you message fully, clarify it, and above all remember not to offend, women, obama, michelle obama, obama campaign, axelrod, carney, jarrett, pelosi, sebilius, and so on and so forth.

As I see it, can’t we say things anymore about real issue and why have the republicans allowed this campaign, of all campaign, SOCIAL ISSUES.

We are nearly 16 trillion in national debt, China owes us, jobless rate is 8.3%, homes underwater, farmers, oil, coal all over regulated. WE HAVE ISSUES AND THEY ARE WITH OBAMA AND MAKE NO MISTAKE THIS AKIN ISSUE IS A MISTAKE BUT WE ARE TAKING OUR EYES OFF THE REAL PROBLEMS AND OBAMA IS LOVING EVERY MINUTE OF THIS. OR DAYS.

  • valerie

To be brutally honest, the Republicans do not need the abortion issue injected into this election. I do sympathize. I am sure the Democrats are delighted to see this happen.

Try to remember, though, that if you read what the Democrats are saying he said, you might find, oh, just a tad bit of exaggeration, or dare I say, misrepresentation.

Don’t be afraid to watch the full clip, or read the full transcript, and compare it to what they are going to say he said. That’s because what he said wasn’t all that bad. It was awkward, and it referred to the wrong (in my opinion) reason why so few one-time rapes by total strangers result in pregnancy.

Top Ten Reasons Obama Kept Biden on the Ticket

It’s a mystery to some, given Vice President Biden’s propensity for stunning mistakes, why President Obama is keeping him on the ticket.

But White House Dossier, after sending bottles of Johnnie Walker Black to every member of the White House staff, has obtained the exclusive list of reasons why Obama is sticking with Biden.

What follows are the top ten of those reasons.

    1. Biden remarks to Obama every morning how handsome he looks today.

    2. He tells Obama everything he does is a “gutsy move.”

    3. Biden promised to have a red light implanted on his forehead that turns on every time he is about to say something stupid.

    4. Obama hopes Biden will help with voters who don’t speak English.

    5. Biden has a copy of Obama’s college transcripts.

    6. Biden threatened to strip down to his underwear and commit hari-kari in front of the Air and Space Museum.

    7. The only 3 am phone call Obama gets is Biden sobbing to keep his job.

    8. Biden promised to eat fish three times a week to improve brain function.

    9. He promised to campaign mostly in Guam.

    10. Michelle really likes Biden’s comb over.

Are there any that you have happened to hear?

The way to fight this Akin mess is to fight the Left with facts:

Obama’s record: record deficits, record unemployment, record bank failures, record foreclosures, record number of months unemployment above 8%, record death toll of US troops in Afghanistan, record number of golf games, US troops deployed in at least 12 MENA and central African countries, secret involvement in Syrian war, Solyndra, Gunwalker, debt to GDP ratio 103%, over half the United States suing to get out of Obamacare, record number of unelected, unaccountable czars, lobbyists still running the White House, secret meetings in cafes offsite of the White House to avoid having to tell who they’re meeting, Michelle Obama with over forty personal assistants, Obama lost over 600 seats for the Democrats in the 2010 elections…
Spread this far and wide. Add additional facts of your own.

  • Militant Catholic

Spider said, “This is all bigger than Akin” (roughly)

Akin is a moron for dropping that bomb. But it’s still early – it’s still August. We fight the Left with the reality that the average American is getting hit hard in the wallet by the Left.

  • Vicky Hernandez

Regardless what W-Schultz is saying is true or not, Akin needs to go. Akin has provided fodder for the DNC to use against the Republican Party Presidential ticket. Yes, Akin did it inadverdently. Yes he apologized. But did it
    n o n e–t h e–l e s s!

Looks like he hangs around an echo chamber. This is a real problem, because a person is ill prepared to handle the opposition and worse, does not know how to defend his positions. It certainly showed in that fateful interview.

It’s really pathetic that VP Biden has said more stupid and asinine, and even more offensive comments than these by Akin, and it hasn’t hurt Biden. But, when the MSM has turned into another Leftist propaganda arm, you get what we have now: Thou shalt not speak ill of a fellow traveler.

Now, Akin may be a nice person. However, this election is not about him nor how “nice” he might be. It is really a knock down drag out for the preservation of the country and its founding principles. And as of now, Akin’s a stumble bum for Conservatives. He is what Joe Biden should be to the Left, but is not.

  • Kathteach

#29 TeachX3 and #18 Sasja – AMEN to what you both said. I tried to say the same thing….

As for Me and my house – We Will Serve the Lord or – for non-Christian families – we will serve our God or our Allah.

  • Vicky Hernandez

    P.S. Winston Wolfe @ #11
Stated the consequences of Akin’s stupid comments in a pithy and real-world manner.

  • Once again, the DNC is taking the focus off of jobs, the economy, the debt and the “transparency” of government.
Akin comments have no bearing on these issues that matter to Americans. Stop spoon feeding this liberals with Akin boneheaded comments.

Don’t miss it. On FOX, of course.

Romney couldn’t have chosen a better running mate.

  • Will

Guess what, Kathteach,TeachX3 and Sasja. When Obama wins and when the Democrats keep the Senate, all it would take for Obama is an Executive order to make Abortion legal up to the 42 weeks and he will ram it through even to the point of government takeover of Catholic/Christian affiliated hospitals. Then what? Come on, tell me, you three. Self Righteous faith does not honor the Lord nor serve His purpose. What we have here is a man who have his heart in the right place but who is not careful nor discerning in his speech. He also is the man who was helped by an Obamacare supporter who incidentally wants to keep her seat in the Senate by buying ads in support of him during the three way contest between him and two other Republican candidates for the prime reason that during the Senate race, her chances of winning are greater than the other two candidates. She wins, Obamacare stays especially if Obama keeps his seat and the Democrats keep the Senate or is a tie.

So answer me, Sanja, KathTeach and TeachX3, are you three so spiritually blind that you cannot see that the enemy had already deceived you, that you refused to see or sought other people’s counsel and concern because you three had already judge the matter yourselves. What good is your faith if you are more than willing to give the devil the world to rule for the sake of a fool.

I’m sorry, but I think that your prideful spirit and not the Holy Spirit that is doing the talking. You may know God’s Word but you refuse to learn the lessons He wants you to learn. You ignored the fact that Akins was given overt support by McCaskill through political ads for him to win the three way contest. Do you understand the implications of this. No, I don’t think you do. Those of us who want Akins to leave is doing this in order for Obama to lose the election and the abomination of a law aptly named Obamacare to be repealed. We are not only interested in saving the unborn, WE are interested in saving all of us.

So in other words, as long as the unborn is protected, the sick, the elderly, the crippled and the poor can just go to hell in the form of ObamaCare in your perspective. What I meant saving all of us, it meant saving not only the unborn , but the rest who will be severely affected when Obamacare is fully enforced and Obama remains President. In the Christian viewpoint, you cannot save one without the others.

Oh btw, your spirit should be spelled in small letters, God’s Holy Spirit should be spelled with the first letter of those two words in capital letters.

The most important thing is Paul Ryan’s plan to give the economy a boost it needs right now and I think his ideas, if put into practice, could produce the desired effect. His main appeal is his willingness to engage in entitlement reform which is very important for the long term health of the U.S. As a Canadian following the U.S. presidential campaign I have to say the Romney/Ryan ticket seems to be a better choice not only for the U.S. but for my country as well. Most Canadians were disappointed when President Obama didn’t approve the Keystone pipeline project and thus destroyed a promising prospect on the way to the economic recovery in both countries. More importantly, the interconnection between Canada and the U.S. is benefical not only for our national economy as a whole but also for the economic development in Canada’s regions which could best be seen when the recovery in the U.S. motor vehicle market positively influenced Toronto’s leading automotive industry. However, I’m afraid that Obama’s decisions could threaten such positive economic development and worsen the relationship between Canada and the U.S.
