Todd Akin may have lost: Romney, Ryan, Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Mark Levin, Ann Counter, Scott Walker, Michelle Malkin, Ron Johnson, Charles Krauthammer, Karl Rove, Marco Rubio, Chris Christie, Allen West, John Cornyn, the NRSC, Crossroads…
But he still has Kirk Cameron.
And today Huckabee threw his support behind the unelectable Republican.
Not only does Huckabee support Todd Akin, today he shamed Republicans for Akin’s miserable plight.
TIME Mag posted Huck’s email.
The deadline came and went on Tuesday for Missouri Senate candidate Todd Akin to drop out over an incorrect comment he made about rape. The Republican establishment put unprecedented and intense pressure on Todd to quit, including five current and past Missouri Senators. But in an exclusive interview on my radio show, Akin said he’s “in this race to the end.” He said he admitted he misspoke and that his statement was not accurate, but he’d sincerely apologized. You can listen to the audio from that interview here.
The Party’s leaders have for reasons that aren’t rational, left him behind on the political battlefield, wounded and bleeding, a casualty of his self-inflicted, but not intentional wound. In a Party that supposedly stands for life, it was tragic to see the carefully orchestrated and systematic attack on a fellow Republican. Not for a moral failure or corruption or a criminal act, but for a misstatement which he contritely and utterly repudiated. I was shocked by GOP leaders and elected officials who rushed so quickly to end the political life of a candidate over a mistaken comment in an interview. This was a serious mistake, but it was blown out of proportion not by the left, but by Akin’s own Republican Party. Is this what the party really thinks of principled pro-life advocates? Do we forgive and forget the verbal gaffes of Republicans who are “conveniently pro-life” for political advantage, but crucify one who truly believes that every life is sacred?
Who ordered this “Code Red” on Akin? There were talking point memos sent from the National Republican Senatorial Committee suggesting language to urge Akin to drop out. Political consultants were ordered to stay away from Akin or lose future business with GOP committees. Operatives were recruited to set up a network of pastors to call Akin to urge him to get out. Money has changed hands to push him off the plank. It is disgraceful. From the spotlights of political offices and media perches, it may appear that the demand for Akin’s head is universal in the party. I assure you it is not. There is a vast, but mostly quiet army of people who have an innate sense of fairness and don’t like to see a fellow political pilgrim bullied. If Todd Akin loses the Senate seat, I will not blame Todd Akin. He made his mistake, but was man enough to admit it and apologize. I’m waiting for the apology from whoever the genius was on the high pedestals of our party who thought it wise to not only shoot our wounded, but run over him with tanks and trucks and then feed his body to the liberal wolves. It wasn’t just Todd Akin that was treated with contempt by the thinly veiled attack on Todd Akin. It was all the people who have faithfully knocked doors, made calls, and made sacrificial contributions to elect Republicans because we thought we were welcome in the party. Todd Akin owned his mistake. Who will step up and admit the effort being made to discredit Akin and apologize for the sleazy way it’s been handled?
I’ve always believed and still do, that if you don’t honor your friendships, you don’t honor yourself. And I consider Todd a friend. So I will join Todd as often as I can, in his fight for our Party’s pro-life policies, traditional marriage and our efforts to rein in the massive expansion of government under President Obama. Todd is being systematically scourged for one thing he said. Is that more important than what Claire McCaskill has DONE over her 6 years in the Senate? If you’d like to join the fight, and help defeat a Democrat Senator standing in the way of a conservative majority, I encourage you to join me. The party has decided it won’t help. In fact, it has decided that it will try to cut off the supply lines to Akin to pressure him to exit and let the party bosses overturn the voters of Missouri and pick their own candidate. If this can happen to Todd Akin, who is next?
I’ve heard the talk of new deadlines and the nonsense about the Republican Party running a 3rd party candidate, but I am no longer listening to that noise. The idea that our Party would continue to play games behind the scenes and feed the Democrats make-believe narrative of the GOP’s fictional war on women is equally ridiculous. Now is the time to focus on electing a conservative Senate Majority. And if the NRSC and RNC and the money-rich PACS won’t help Todd Akin get us to the majority, then we’ll do it without them. And his seat will not have been sold to the highest bidder, but obtained by the highest principles.
And there you have it.
That just gave Todd Akin the impetus to continue his battle.
Thanks Huck.
Guess it’s time to move on.

Withdraw the Hucksterbee speaking slot.
Give it to Palin, or to Gingrich.

NO ONE can address the issue as totally and thoroughly as Mark Levin did Monday night. (I think it’s available on DailyCaller.com – and it’s great!) The basic premise: The Republican Party did not let Todd Akin down – Todd Akin let the Republican Party down. This election is the single most important one in our lifetime, and this one guy threatens the Republicans’ chances to save the country.

Now is the time for courage
Want to know why the Republican Party is in such trouble? I believe it comes down to one word: courage.
When Democrats misspeak, we make them vice president. When Republicans misspeak, Republicans are the first in line to throw them under the bus.
When Rep. Todd Akin stood for protecting all innocent human life in a recent interview, he used a word with more than one meaning. He used the word “legitimate” before the word “rape” to mean “real,” “forcible,” a tragic event that “really took place.” Anyone who doesn’t think false claims of rape can be made should check with Norma McCorvey, the “Roe” of Roe v. Wade. The infamous abortion case, based on her false rape claim, has resulted in the deaths of 55 million innocent human lives.
But because “legitimate” could also modify the word rape, some in the Republican Party are practically writing Willie Horton ads about it, pretending that the congressman is “pro-rape” and wants to let rapists out on furlough. This “interpretation” of the congressman’s words doesn’t resemble reality, and everyone knows it.
If Republicans love their country, they will quit using fiction to shoot their own and focus on the real enemies of life: Democrats Claire McCaskill and Barack Obama, who stand for legally sucking the brains out of half-born babies in a procedure called partial-birth abortion.
In America, we shouldn’t kill people for the crimes of their father. And in politics, we shouldn’t kill statesmen for a badly worded sound bite.
Thankfully, there are men and women of courage who stand with Rep. Akin,

Exactly Jonah Vark. Republicans including you Jim should be ashamed of your actions. The sanctity of life must be preserved. This is just one of the many reasons why I no longer support or identify with the republican party.

A fair question to me is whether Gateway Pundit is batting for the other side or not? I had serious questions during the primary, and have even greater ones now. Can you stop stoking this fire, please? Or is that the intended result?
Who needs enemies?

If he lost Limbaugh, then so did the GOP because Limbaugh’s criticism was spread around. I believe he referred to it as circling the firing squad. Every GOP politician who went along with the MSM narrative and spent their time bashing Akin instead of diverting the topic back to their opponent or Obama is just as stupid as Akin and just as much to blame for his fall in the polls. As long as the guy was still in the race, party candidates and officials should have kept their public criticism minimized. They should have simply disagreed with the statement and steered the conversation back to more important issues.
Sasja commented:
Oh, so the republicans’ attacks on Akin were shameful. If not, then how could the Huckster “shame” them?

Agreed.
Good for Huckabee, I have always liked him.
God Bless Todd Akin and former Governor Mike Huckabee and the United States of America. In God we Trust. Amen.

The Huck is an ABSOLUTE, 100% DISGRACE to the political and social foundation of the nation. Just look at his pathetic actions and positions (which, unfortunately, remain largely UNKNOWN):
1. The Huck’s multiple pardons and releases of convicted rapists and murderers when he was governor. Thanks to Huck, these murderers and rapists were able to kill and rape again.
2. The Huck’s support for massive TAX INCREASES when he was governor and his total failure to cut a penny of state spending (sounds like a d-cRAT socialist, doesn’t it?)
3. The Huck’s SUPPORT for “for the first time in my life I am proud of my country” michelle’s NANNY STATE dementia. (The Huck ALSO wants the government to tell you what to wear, what to eat, what to think, what to drive, what to carry groceries in, what box to check in elections, what to drink, what to do every moment of every day…. just like a lunatic-lefty)
4. The Huck thinks that Rev. “God Damn America” wright, “You Lie!” hussein’s vile, racist mentor for 20+ years, should not get any focus from conservatives.
5. and now, he supports OBOZO’s illegal political ploy for AMNESTY for ILLEGALS.
The Huck is one of the MOST PATHETIC slimebags ever to masquerade as a Republican

No surprise Huckleberry is backing Akin.
Huckleberry wouldn’t get out of the Presidential race until he had to. It was all pretty embarrassing. In other words, Hucklebery/Akin are shamelessly self-centered and deluded they’re in it, “for the good of the country.”
Mmmm kay-ay.
Sasja commented:
Well, Cliff, unfortunately too many in the GOP want to be first to load the weapons.
As Rush stated yesterday, I think. Or it could have been today. Oh what does it matter?
Anyhoo, Rush said that if he had told Akin to get out of the race, Akin would be out (that was said tongue in cheek, of course).
Big Al commented:
#3 JR,
I totally agree. That sums it up nicely.
As to Huckaphony, it was only a matter of time before he and his southern baptist friends stuck the knife in Romneys back again. I expect some slime about Mormons soon.
Good Grief

You know, Huckabee is entitled to his opinion.
I have never seen so much division among the right. Conservatives. and reps. alike over Akin statements.
Wow, things were rolling along one week with nomination of Ryan and then this has completed divided the right.
What ever direction come Nov. remember we must defeat Obama and join together. As you and I are entitled to our opinions, we need patience and stand together.
Just as Coulter said she hated Akin, can’t Huckabee also be entitled to his opinion?
