Mitt Romney was asked again today about the Akin rape comments.
“Democrats are using the Akin flap to discredit GOP.”

The AP reported:

Republican presidential challenger Mitt Romney says it is sad that President Barack Obama’s campaign is stooping to the low level of trying to link Rep. Todd Akin’s statements about abortion to the entire GOP.

  1. It’s the Chicago Way……..

At least Mitts only been married once…..can you imagine if that were not the case.

  2. And so are Conservatives and Republicans.

  3. Yes, he has to put this out there to try and put up a firewall between Akin and the rest of the GOP nominees.

But if he believed O was gonna show some restraint, then he was being a bit naive.

  4. …Mitt Romney says it is sad that President Barack Obama’s campaign is stooping to the low level of trying to link Rep. Todd Akin’s statements about abortion to the entire GOP.

That’s because some of their candidates can’t stop talking about it.

Priority One is getting this country back on track and getting people back to work, and abortion is not the subject that’s relevant to that objective.

And certainly can’t here. Many of the most opinionated comments ever.

  6. Romney, you’re right it should be about the economy, but sadly you’re going to get it from both sides.
Too many folks on our side can’t see the forest for the trees and too many have personal agendas against you.

  7. Romney also said in this interview that he was proud of Romneycare, which, as we all know, served at least partially as a blueprint for Obamacare.

Is Romney trying to lose this race? Perhaps he should drop out for making such a stupid statement and let someone else carry the Republican banner into November.

  8. Just saw/heard this interview over at RS. There is a second interview below it in the link that is so worth a listen. More personal: the Romney’s at home and you can see how incredibly genuine Mitt Romney is. What a breath of fresh air to hear an adult speaking. Please God let this man win the WH.

  9. #9 – I think you’re contradicting the perspective you were sharing yesterday, which was one of patience and forgiveness for things that one may say that are a mistake, or an error. You appeared to be sharing a view that no one is perfect. Yet you seem to have a different view today.

  10. Romney again showing he is the one who issued the KILL AKIN order…This is HIS decision to waste the pre convention weekend stoking the flames of an internal party conflict…..dispatching all the top dogs to flex the machinery muscle to enforce the KILL AKIN order . Campaigning against AKIN instead of Democrats…falsly accusing Democrats of trouble making when McCaskill has endorsed Akin to stay in the race….THIS IS ROMNEY TAKING DOWN HIS OWN CAMPAIGN>>>>JUST AS YOU WERE WARNED EVERY DAY BY THOUSANDS OF GOOD PEOPLE WHO WANTED TO WIN THIS THING>>>>YOU WERE BEGGED TO NOMINATE ANYBODY >>>>ANYBODY BUT ROMNEY !

  11. This whole Akin fiasco has blurred the way I understand where the commenters on this site are coming from.

I’m now confused about what views are held by various commenters.

I am going to proceed slowly and cautiously now to try and get a feel for whats going on here.

What’s worrying me is I’m sensing an anti-Romney undercurrent. And if this is coming from conservative commenters, we may be in some trouble.

  12. #11, Sarah, you don’t seem to understand snark when you see it.

No, I don’t hold any human to perfection. That has only been accomplished once.

I also have spent the last day researching both the 2006 and 2008 elections in Missouri. There is a reason Jim Hoft doesn’t want to talk about them. Any Republican is going to have a tough time in Missouri, if we use the last six years as a metric. John McCain won by a mere 3,632 votes, less than 1% (actually by 1/10th of 1%) Obama carried all the areas that Jim Hoft’s survey from yesterday showed McCaskill leading this year.

easy for you to say Mr. Romney, especially when you know damn well that
anyone who ran against up against you didn’t have a snowballs chance
    in hell
of going anywhere.. shame on you, shame on the elitist Republican
party, and shame on those of you on both sides of the isle who lie in order
to advance your own political agenda. i am ashamed of what my country
has devolved into, no one is speaking for “we the people”, no one.. :-(

and here i thought Romney couldn’t possibly blow it for US, hah..

but hey, what’s that they say
about when you least expect it..

ergo, Congrats once again Obama, brilliant canard, absolutely brilliant,
Claire’s straw-man did something Fluke couldn’t do in a million posts..

expose yet another party with no principle’s..

    eff all of you..

troops falling left and right, fast and furious going nowhere, etc, but stop
the world, and crucify Akin atop a mountain built on a fallacious molehill..

how dumbed down are we, too damned verily.. :-(

Godspeed, God Bless & Thank You Mr. Akin..

  14. #13, Spider, many people on the right side of the aisle do not like Romney and consider him, as I do, an eastern squich who handed out same-sex marriage licenses using a little known Massachusetts law, who created a health plan that provided for abortions and health care to the illegals of Massachusetts, and who was not real swift on job creation for his state while governor.

That said, he is our candidate, and I will try to get him elected because the alternative is unacceptable. But no, he was not my choice in 2008 and he wasn’t my choice this year.

  15. retire05 #16, no problemo, I understand what you are saying, and your points are all well taken.

But as you so aptly complete your thought – “he is our candidate, and I will try to get him elected because the alternative is unacceptable”

Let’s stay united and focused, with our eye on the prize – President Willard “Mitt” Romney !

  16. I suspect McCaskill to save her own skin has promised Romney to switch parties …or give Romney some votes….and Romney would rather work with McCasKILL in his Sentate than one of those nuicance pro lifers…..or the RINOS just simply cannot contain their bigotry for people of moral faith and are compulsed to do these Christine O’Donnel smack downs every election cycle. We have seen it before. Nothing new…just a few more ” team players ” who in the past would have said NO SIR to the boss giving out orders to hit our own in the back with ” friendly fire ” .

    like i warned..

some of the most LIBERAL folks i know were being turned off by Obama..

but thanks to this, they are starting to sway back to thinking that it may
be better to stick with the devil they know than the one they don’t..

but hey, they’ll never “get it” anyways.. /mega sarc/
