Gay Rights Group Files Multiple Charges of Discrimination Against Chick-fil-A

The Civil Rights Agenda, a radical far left group, filed complaints against Chick-fil-A with the Department of Human Rights today.

Chicago Phoenix reported, via Free Republic:

The Civil Rights Agenda, a local LGBT rights advocacy group, filed multiple complaints with the Illinois Department of Human Rights Thursday, alleging that the Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A restaurant chain’s “intolerant corporate culture” violates Illinois law and a provision in the state’s Human Rights Act.

“In our current high speed media and social media environment, Chick-fil-A has announced and caused to be published, to hundreds of millions of people, that LGBT people are unacceptable and objectionable,” said Jacob Meister, Governing Board President of TCRA and the attorney who filed the complaint. “They have made it clear the lives of LGBT individuals are unacceptable to them and that same-gender families are unwelcome at Chick-fil-A.”

Anthony Martinez, executive director of TCRA, contends that Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy’s recent comments reiterating his opposition to same-sex marriage were more than just his own thoughts and that he was speaking on behalf of his company, stating the views as company policy.

“We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that,” Cathy said in the Baptist Press July 16. He said he was “guilty as charged” for supporting “the biblical definition of the family unit.”

Suddenly, speaking out against gay marriage is a crime.

It seems the entire agenda is to sue: Sue Chik Fil A, sue a photographer who won’t take pictures of your gay wedding, protest a baker who won’t bake a cake for your gay wedding. Later, sue any church that won’t perform your wedding. Make sure your rights trump everyone else’s. And then wonder why the rest of us don’t agree with you. (And I haven’t even mentioned the debauchery of the parades.) As one commenter mentioned in another post, why would you want a photographer who doesn’t agree with you to take pictures of your special day. STOP THE SUING: Eat somewhere else, hire a gay photographer and a gay baker. Hire a gay florist too. I did. The flowers were gorgeous.

This is all a deperate attempt by the gay community to feel normal. Truth is, no amount of laws will help. They have to first accept themselves as normal before anyone else will. They can claim they accept themselves as normal, however; their actions speak differently.

I just want to say boo-hoo for this group of bigots that decided to sue using the Human Rights Act. I don’t know about everyone else, but I am so sick and tired of these fake civil issues where the bully uses the law to be the actual racist or bigots. Enough.

If you are too scared to stand up, sit down and crawl out of office. Some of you have been there for years. Yep. Years. You are responsible for this mess because you either were too chicken to stand up, stupid or so blind that you could not hire aides that could keep you informed as to the true state of the country. Start with addressing the racism that is practiced on the taxpayers dime sitting with you. It is called (in case you missed it) The Congressional Black Caucas. Notice anything wrong with that name?

I agree with #32. I now many gays from business and many have told me of the hardships of growing up that way and even being turned on by their families. Many I know even have children from when they tried to live straight. I don’t agree with their lifestyle but I really don’t think they can change what is biologic. I do think what is going on is just the beginning of “The Thought Police”. Tear down little by little, get rid of God first, no morals, no problem, and so on until everything falls and they take over. You are made the “problem” since you cannot be won over by their agenda.

  • owl

#32 creeper……….I never thought I would agree with you but here goes. I agree that I think ‘some’ were born that way. I have lived long enough to know of 2 cases that proved it to me.

I do believe some chose it, just as some did not. My heart goes out to anyone that finds themself with a handicap. Yes, it is their problem to deal with and the rest of society should not have to change to conform. Their civil rights are not any more important than anyone else’s. I do not have a problem with full civil rights with civil unions. I do have a problem with teaching this crap to grade schoolers. It is obscene what they are doing with this issue.

Marriage and the definition should not have to change for the few. That is stomping on civil rights.

  • snap boy

bg, in mammals the natural rate of homosexuality is a tad under 4%. Humans can learn sexual behavior from observation (essentially a lot of us are capable of swinging either way), thus the number of LBGT’s will increase within a society that accepts that behavior, but there is nothing to indicate that the number of “born that way” homosexuals per 100 births would be any different in people than in cats or elephants or antelope.

In regards to poster known as bg: as to the subject of “homosexuals are born that way”. PROVE IT!! As far as my research has found,is that,as modern and advanced as our technology has come;Modern science has never found a “gay” gene or chromosome in a DNA strand that identifies someone as being “created” or “born” gay. It is a perverted choice that they made somewhere in their lives, for whatever reason. But,it is a choice. If God created mankind in certain way, i.e. man for woman and woman for man, then can you point to where exactly God decided to change his mind about things and do things a different way? Or,modify, his original design? Therefore implying that he messed up the original roles of male and female and had to fix things the second time around. A simple, intelligent look a human anatomy itself proves how the sexes were made and for what reasons.

BTW,Chik-fil-A,NEVER said, nor implied,in any of the coverage I’ve seen and/or read, that same gender families, gays, homosexuals,LGBT or whatever, were un-welcomed at Chik-fil-A. They don’t exactly ask you those things before the let you in the door or make a drive-thru order. These people are just so miserable and unhappy with themselves on the inside, that they have to take their rage out in some way. And this tirade is their latest,child-like,hissy fit.

Sodomites should be thankful that they’ve been given a whole lot of rights and protections over the course of the past 30 years. But now they want to get in our faces because of our religious beliefs. And they want to dictate our religious beliefs. One sodomite and his liberal supporters has already pretty much destroyed the Episcopal Church.

I think we need to start working towards dialing back the clock and putting in-your-face queers on a more level playing field. We’re treating them like spotted owls, coddling and protecting them. There is no gay community. There are only very loud and obnoxious groups “representing” gays, who pasted the label community on people who are often more unalike than alike.

They are not victims. Again they are loud and obnoxious, but not in need of special rights (If liberals took the constitution seriously, we wouldn’t have this problem. They’d realize they were dealt a hand in life and must play it. At least they were born in the USA, which happens to be the original “royal flush”).

This has nothing to do with right or wrong regarding sexual behavior. This is about the sanctity of religious freedom.

The topic was gay marriage, not how to exterminate gays.

Sorry, you can’t always get what you want. Some married couples struggle to have kids. Some give birth to a child who lives for just five days.

Some people get cancer and die at a young age.

Some people are born in North Korea.

They’re whining just to whine over Chick-fil-A. Organized self pity.

  • Flintstone F.

And regarding being born that way vs choosing. It’s both. It’s always both because we are influenced by how we are perceived and by physiology.

There is no genetic connection, just a genetic predisposition for being more likely or less likely to become gay or perceived as gay. Hormones are the primary culprit, since they play a role in sexual development from fetus to puberty. They are what make you feel and behave the way you do (after puberty, usually you know and or are influenced by other social encounters. Plenty of people out there being “gay” for the “fun” of it).

There are any number of things that can vary during fetal development to cause abnormalities and where hormones are concerned, behavior is affected but there is no gay gene (it’s a ridiculous thing to assert otherwise).

    #32 creeper,

My best friend from 4th grade into adulthood was gay. He told me a story of being 3 or 4 and thinking the mailman was cute, and that he always gravitated to men. He didn’t undertand why he thought that way for quite some time. Then came the closet, then finally out of the closet. You are correct, there used to be a lot of anguish and pain in being gay, and living a life of pain and anguish is not a choice most would make. My friend didn’t make a choice to be gay, it was genetically made for him.

My Campaign bus is running out of fuel and David Axelrod has an new scam to inflict upon my California Voters. Californians always vote for me. I say screw them! I cannot answer any more questions. My campaign may suck but once your children see my donkeys sucking in public it will be disgusting. Good day.

Homosexuality fails the twins test, so whatever it is, it’s not genetic.

    There’s a gay kiss-in at CFA tonight.

I suggest everybody go back to CFA today for lunch and dinner. Let them protest for nothing while you enjoy the food from CFA (leave the young-uns at home. Gay or straight, PDA’s aren’t for kids).

You are correct except for the genetics. It’s biological and psychological, not genetic. Only genetic predisposition, not genetic determination. No gay gene.

… unacceptable and objectionable,” said Jacob Meister, Governing Board President of TCRA and the attorney who filed the complaint.

What is unacceptable and objectionable is this stupid, patently false allegation by this heterophobe who wasting court resources with his nonsense.

    re: The Gay Gene

I don’t know, but historically speaking there have always been gays and their percentage of the population hovers around the same over time; they are not a new phenomenon. Now I’m not talking pederasty, but homosexual relationships as occurred in Sparta and other places. Biological and psychological? More than that, I think. When a man writes an ode to his male lover, it ventures into the realm of love, for want of a better term. I just think to love sexually your own sex is a distinct pattern that has survived history even through changing dogma and various levels of persecution.

    Anyway, interesting conversation.

I read in the past about the brains of gay men being different (at least in a certain area/section of which I don’t recall), possibly indicating some tyoe of genetic reason. I can relate to the story of the 4 or 5 year old who felt different. It does bother me somewhat when people who are NOT gay presume to know what causes homosexuality. I have no idea why I am the way I am, but I know that it’s given me a lifetime of inner pain due to a society that at times seems incapable of accepting people for who they are as God so created. I would never wish homosexuality on anyone, not because I think gay people are inherently evil, but because society can make a gay person’s life a living hell. You’ll never understand unless you’ve walked in a gay person’s shoes. With that said, I am not one to force a gay lifestyle down anyone’s throat, but I do believe in live and let live, and I have the belief that God knows more about the person that I am than any one of you. Additionally, it’s only through acceptance of oneself that one can begin to find a little happiness and peace in his or her life.

Who said it was genetic? I said it was congenital. Look them up.

The first brain scans showing obvious differences in homosexuals’ brains were published thirty years ago. Since then there have been countless studies that confirm physical differences. The “why” still eludes researchers but the “what” is well documented.

I’m a fraternal twin to a heterosexual female. I read the comment about hormones, and I’ve wondered about that in the past. I wonder what the effect of hormones were upon my development in the womb. I am not an effeminate man, but Iam not Mr. Extremely Macho either, for which I am thankful.

FreetobeMe: A decades-long friend of mine, a gay man, told me that if sexual orientation was a choice, he’d not choose to be gay because it makes for a more difficult life, with more opportunities to be hurt and sad.

“I am not one to force a gay lifestyle down anyone’s throat…”
That should be a given but since it’s not to so many, I appreciate that from you.

“but I do believe in live and let live…”
Your rights end where mine begin. Don’t mack on your boyfriend in my presence and I won’t mack on mine in yours. That’s an activity best left at home, for straight and gay couples.

I won’t venture to even guess God’s plan for you or for anyone else, either. It’s long been a personal policy of mine to leave the afterlife of others up to them and God. The same for your relationship with Him. I got plenty of my own sin for which to answer. God said that homosexual sex is an abomination; He didn’t say homosexual men and women are abominations. Many Christians will tell you that they don’t accept homosexual sex to be anything but sin. They are not saying that homosexual people are nothing but sin. Most Christians don’t hate homosexuals but they do hate sin, including homosexual sex. The most honest among them hate their own sin, too; they hate the lies they tell, they hate the lust the feel; and so on. They don’t accept their own sins; don’t expect them to accept your sins, either. (I don’t claim to be a Christian. Don’t dry hump your boyfriend in my presence and, in kind, I’ll not make mention of your sin, leaving it a matter to be worked out between you and God. I got my own ‘splainin’ to do when I meet Him.)

Finally, cheer the hell up, why don’t ya? Things could be worse. You could have been born a ‘mo in Iran, years ago executed by public stoning. Instead, you were lucky enough to be born in the US, where others may say mean things that hurt or true things that sting, and where you can respond with a raised middle finger.

Snap @ #40: “in mammals the natural rate of homosexuality is a tad under 4%” In “mammals”? You mean in humans, right? Because there is no such thing as homosexual animals.

The homosexual community is on the ropes and it knows it.

It has lost in 31 out of 31 state-wide referendums dealing with same –sex “marriages.” Why don’t they get the message, America frowns on sexual perversion?

Homosexuals can sue us all they like but we will protect our religion and the right of free speech no matter what the homosexual community tries to do to us. Be assured that we will win because this is not a civil rights issue, and because this is not Canada, it is America.

John Quincy Adams said that “it is with the power of a nation to do whatever it pleases but that does not mean that it has the right” to do whatever it pleases. Homosexuals do not have the right to promote or sanction sexual perversion.

America is a free society it must not be turned into an open society which is what the homosexual community wants; therefore I salute Chick-fil-A and its CEO.

AuntieMadder: I agree with much of what you wrote, including what your long term gay friend intimated to you. One correction, though about me. I am not coupled with anyone, and I don’t have much interest in being coupled. I also am mostly a happy person who loves the simple things in life like nature, and animals. I have no doubt that I also like the finer things in cars, nice homes, etc., but my personal life has spiraled downward in the past decade, and I’m praying for a rebound. Yes, I am happy to be alive, and to be in this great country, but things are tough right now. The only times I get depressed sometimes is when my finances become extremely burdened. I can’t seem to get myself out of this hole that I have dug myself into due to reasons both in and out of my control. I’ve come to realize that prayer helps with that.

re: oldlineconservative – Unfortunately they will implement this the same way they have in every state it’s passed-through the courts. The people, state constitutions, and longstanding cultural realities have been tossed aside and the elites rule through their unelected servants in the judiciary.

Until we get back to republican principles and dismantle the progressive edifice I don’t have much hope for this nation.

Obama didn’t care about Gay Rights until it was Election Time, nor did he care about granting Immigrants legal status. CFA has the right to believe what ever it wishes to believe, just like a Gay Person has the right to believe however they wish to believe.

Speak out against Gay marriage: get excoriated, threatened to be run out of cities, and get sued by a bunch of gays.

Speak out in favor of Gay Marriage: get praised as a hero standing up against bigotry. More importantly not get threatened to be run out of cities and not get sued by a bunch of straight guys/girls… christians… etc.

    Which side is practicing bigotry?

And can you really call this equal rights when one side is shouted down almost every time by the heckler’s veto?

    I love Gays!!

Did some research on this lawsuit, since the gay movement loves to lie. The name on the lawsuit was redacted because the complainant is a hypocrite. How do I know? You can see his name in the upper right on most pages: John Zaharakis, 44 y/o, owner of the gay bar Cocktail in Chicago. They regularly have mostly naked men dancing for the customers, so his claim to be a Christian is more propaganda. His lawsuit doesn’t even state he entered a Chick-Fil-A. Also, look up the Illinois statute. You read further and it plainly states the free exercise of religiously based views shall not constitute a civil rights violation! There’s no record of him having a daughter with his partner, Dusty Hoffman.
But the most hypocritical thing about this all is that his bar discriminates against straight women…they even have a sign! CFA doesn’t bar anyone from their restaurants in ANY way, but John will. Don’t believe me, just google discrimination and Zaharakis. Many of the gay blogs that talk about it even admit that it’s discriminatory. So where’s Rahm & Moreno now? Public records also reveal 15 liens/judgments from the IRS, the state, and private individuals – one of whom was the General Manager of Cocktail! The most recent liens were on July 16, 2012. This is the same day he alleged he felt discriminated against. Someone needs money badly.
This is the best complaint they could muster? The suit itself is baseless and the complainer is the one who should be sued. The arguments these GLBT extremists have are hollow and sensational. Just question their sources before believing the hype.

The best part about gay people is that they don’t get to make more gay people.yeah!!!
The Freakishness stops with them!! The only good thing about gay people is they usually have money to spend because they aren’t raising a family..at least not their own. They think it’s their duty to raise other people’s kids and make them share in their freakish views..these people are totally sick and nothing but bullies. Why don’t the lgbt groups support and throw their money behind church groups that support traditional values… are lgbt prejudice against traditional churches??

The gay rights people want us to be tolerant of them and what they say but the refuse to be tolerant of our standing as what we see is right according to the bible. But we are the ones the military will come against to stop our freedom of speech.
