It Begins… Sandra Fluke & Obama Use Todd Akin to Trash Romney-Ryan & Raise Cash

Thank you Todd Akin for bringing down the Republican Party with you.
From the DNC website

Thank You Todd Akin.
Thank You Akin campaign media consultant, Rex Elsass.

The Obama Campaign used radical activist Sandra Fluke tonight to tie the Romney-Ryan ticket to Todd Akin and their “war on women.”
Let’s pray Todd Akin reads this and has a change of heart. We all appreciate Todd Akin’s service but now he it taking down the Romney-Ryan ticket and the country with him.

From the Barack Obama website:

Here is the Obama Campaign letter:

In a recent statement that was both factually inaccurate and horribly offensive, Republican Missouri Senate candidate Rep. Todd Akin said that victims of “legitimate rape” don’t get pregnant because “the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.”

Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan tried to distance themselves from the remark—but the fact is they’re in lockstep with Akin on the major women’s health issues of our time. Just this morning, the Republican Party voted to include the “Human Life Amendment” in their platform, calling for a constitutional ban on abortions nationwide, even for rape victims. Several Romney supporters and advisers stood silently by while this vote took place, and the Los Angeles Times reports that the platform “was written at the direction of Romney’s campaign.”

President Obama spoke out yesterday in response to Akin’s comments: “What I think these comments do underscore is why we shouldn’t have a bunch of politicians, a majority of whom are men, making health care decisions on behalf of women.”

This controversy is not an accident, or a mistake, or an isolated incident. It’s a reflection of a Republican Party whose policies are dangerous for women.

There is a clear choice for women in this election.

I entered this national debate on women’s rights in February, when, as a Georgetown Law student, I testified before members of Congress on the issue of contraception.

Without knowing me or my story, Rush Limbaugh called me a “slut” and a “prostitute” on his radio show.

Many Americans stepped forward to tell me they agreed with me, and supported my right to speak out without being verbally attacked. President Obama stood with us.

Mitt Romney, on the other hand? He didn’t even condemn the remark, instead saying only: “It’s not the language I would have used.”

Since that moment, I’m even more resolved to continue the fight to make sure every single woman—and every man who cares about the women in his life—knows exactly what’s at stake in this election. The Republicans are frighteningly clear on these issues.

The party platform itself includes a “salute” to states that have pushed “informed consent” laws, such as those that force women seeking an abortion to first undergo an invasive and medically unnecessary ultrasound.

Just last year, Paul Ryan joined Todd Akin and more than 200 other Republicans in co-sponsoring legislation that would have narrowed the definition of rape, limiting which victims of rape were “legitimate” enough to receive financial assistance for access to abortion care.

Mitt Romney famously says he would “get rid of” Planned Parenthood if he had the chance. And both Romney and Ryan pledge to go back to a system where insurance companies can discriminate against women and charge us more than men for the same health insurance.

Akin’s comments shouldn’t be surprising. But this isn’t about him—just like it was never about me.

President Obama has told us what he’s fighting for: “I want women to control their own health choices, just like I want my daughters to have the same opportunities as your sons.”

Republicans, led by Romney and Ryan, have made it clear that they want to make our decisions for us.

President Obama trusts us to make our own.

It’s as simple as that.

It is time for Todd Akin to step down.

More… Ann Coulter writes: MISSOURI: THE ‘SHOW ME ANOTHER G.O.P. CANDIDATE’ STATE

“This guy Akin is more selfish than Eliot Spitzer… There’s no rehabilitating this guy. It’s a waste of money. His comments are going to cost Republicans an easy Senate seat in a moment of crisis for the nation.”

    it doesn’t really matter, at this point, if akin steps aside or not…the damage has been done. he’s handed the dems a huge diversion and become the poster-boy for all the stereotypes of woman-hating, sexually-ignorant, theology-thumping republicans. the dems have already parlayed this mess into an excuse to make a Big F’n Deal out of a couple of the party’s platforms that they may have, previously, only been able to capitalize on with some difficulty and blowback. but now they can paint the coming GOP convention as a festival of backwardness and bigotry and theirs as a hymn to womanhood.
    economy? what economy? we don’t need no stinkin’ talk about the economy. my worst fears that my party would be bit in the butt by the ‘social issues’ would seem to have come to pass and we’ve got this moron, akin, to thank for really getting the ball rolling.

    What’s happening is that the Russians and Chinese are waiting in the wings to promote Obama to status of dictator.

    1. First they MUST demonize the opposition.

    2. Then they have to create a crisis.

    3. THEN they have to have more boots on the ground to control the population.

    Obama is a Russian agent, trained and groomed by the Soviets way back when. Son of not the Kenyan, not Davis, but MalcolmX and white Jo Ann Newman. They tried to make him irresistible to Americans–a “chocolate baby” as they call mixed race children, and the “proof” through the vote that those who voted for him are not racists (an important issue for us). Still … YAWN.

    The Ruskies did pretty well at covering their tracks, but back then there was no such thing as the “information highway” and so they were sloppy by today’s standards. Which is why they’re scrambling now to cover tracks and obfuscate.

    What they NEVER figure in is the American spirit–the PEOPLE, because their systems are essentially systems that serve a small elite (despite the talk which they use to fool the people in their countries). Americans already are at the bottom of this little conspiracy and it’s become a race: who will win first–the American people (enough of them) armed with the truth? Or the Soviets and Chinese via their robot Obama.

    We will see . . .

    an utter lie. He said no such thing, but at this point I guess it doesn’t matter, because even a lot of right leaning people are repeating it. Its one of those popular culture things that people buy without question even though its complete crap.

    Sandra Fluke, really? I just haven’t the words to describe this Obama campaign. What are they thinking? and where is the mind set?

    We are in a time, a serious time in this nation’s economy, growth and the direction we need to on. This isn’t a Fluke or Biden moment.

    What they both have said should be worse then Akin. They are created a distraction from our nation’s dire problems. Obama manipulated a war against the classes. Starting with Wall street and then the top earners in our nation.

    Then when it seemed that this didn’t seem to have an affect he started on Religious freedoms and the we got one of the most have witted no body’s in America to stand up and tell a nation what Obama couldn’t, out loud, Republicans hate women.

    Then the dumb witted Biden said racist things, a VICE PRESIDENT and calls for his resignation were nil.

    What are the leaders doing really, we have some in the Republican party standing up but only massaging the comments made by irresponsible and irrational figures.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    When must get back to the problems that we and our children are facing. It must be done and will take time and Obama and his distractions are reprehensible. Biden and Fluke are a distraction from all the above things I have mentioned.
    Akin said what he did, apologized but I am waiting for an apology from Obama, Waters, Pelosi, Biden, Holder and too many to mention for much worse things than Akin. And now is the time for Fox News to stand up and let the liars have it. I have noticed that Hannity is doing this but all of America doesn’t watch him.
    So, you and must stand up and tell everyone who will listen what is really going on in the Obama campaign and with Obama himself. Enough distractions we need to take our country back. This isn’t just words, we are looking the devil square in the face and we must stand up and denied him to enter.
    This nation is our to take back, we can’t keep going down a path where our tradition are being destroyed each day. It is shameful how this government has gotten away with squandering well this:
    President Obama: The Biggest Government Spender In World History
    Recall, however, that in 2008 Congress was controlled by Democrat majorities, with Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House, and the restless Senator Obama already running for President, just four years removed from his glorious career as a state Senator in the Illinois legislature. As Hans Bader reported on May 26 for the Washington Examiner, the budget approved and implemented by Pelosi, Obama and the rest of the Congressional Democrat majorities provided for a 17.9 percent increase in spending for fiscal 2009!
    Actually, President Obama and the Democrats were even more deeply involved in the fiscal 2009 spending explosion than that. As Bader also reports, “The Democrat Congress [in 2008], confident Obama was going to win in 2008, passed only three of fiscal 2009’s 12 appropriations bills (Defense, Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, and Homeland Security). The Democrat Congress passed the rest of them [in 2009], and [President] Obama signed them.” So Obama played a very direct role in the runaway fiscal 2009 spending explosion.
    Experience is something that can’t be bestowed on a person, it’s something that must be earned over time. Hopefully, in the future, people won’t vote for someone who has never managed so much as a lemonade stand and expect them to be able to manage a government responsible to, and for, over three hundred million people.
    Support your beliefs, vote Todd Akin for the Republican Missouri Senate seat.
    If you want Obama out of office, vote Republican.
    We have to stand firm and get the corrupt dems out of Washington.
    This should be our main focus, because it’s harder to throw a dem out of office than it is to throw out a republican simply because the dems lock arms and stand together no matter what while the republicans seem to eerily ready to throw each other under the bus.
  • Is there not ONE other “good” man or woman in Missouri who could replace Akin on the ticket if it means winning the election and the Senate? Compassion for the man or “standing by him” has NOTHING to do with the main issue: Will the voters of Missouri elect him over McCaskill? If the answer is a resounding (or even a very likely) NO!!!, then he should step aside while there is still time to get the conversation OFF of him and “war on women” and back on Obama and McCaskill and the damage they will do to the country if they are reelected.
    What good does it do to continue to run KNOWING it is hopeless and the election will be lost? NOTHING else should be considered either by Akin or his supporters. NOTHING!
    Rape Pregnancies Are Rare
    John C. Willke, M.D.
    April 1999
    [Finally, factor in what is certainly one of the most important reasons why a rape victim rarely gets pregnant, and that’s physical trauma. Every woman is aware that stress and emotional factors can alter her menstrual cycle. To get and stay pregnant a woman’s body must produce a very sophisticated mix of hormones. Hormone production is controlled by a part of the brain that is easily influenced by emotions. There’s no greater emotional trauma that can be experienced by a woman than an assault rape. This can radically upset her possibility of ovulation, fertilization, implantation and even nurturing of a pregnancy. So what further percentage reduction in pregnancy will this cause? No one knows, but this factor certainly cuts this last figure by at least 50 percent and probably more. If we use the 50 percent figure, we have a final figure of 225 (or 370) women pregnant each year. These numbers closely match the 200 that have been documented in clinical studies.
    So assault rape pregnancy is extremely rare. If we use the figure of 200, it is 4 per state per year. Even if we use a figure of 500, we’re talking about only ten per state, per year. In the United States in one year, there are more than 6 million pregnancies. Roughly 3 million eventuate in live birth, 1.5 million are aborted and 500,000 miscarry. And so while each assault rape pregnancy is a tragedy for the mother (not for the baby, though), we can with confidence say that such pregnancies amount to a minuscule fraction of the total annual pregnancies in the United States. Further, less than half of assault rape pregnancies are aborted, even though that course of action tends to be vigorously pushed by those around the woman.
    One final thought, Sandra Mahkorn, in two excellent studies, has asked such women what was their chief complaint? One might fully assume it was the fact that she was pregnant, but that is incorrect. Her chief complaint was how other people treated her. Such treatment ranged from negative, to simply getting little support from those around her. Even in a culture that offers little support and aggressively pushes abortion as a solution, fewer that half of such babies are killed by abortion. Think of how many fewer yet there would be if each pregnant victim of a rape were given the support, aid and tender loving care that she and her baby deserve.]
    Full Interview With Todd Akin
    more here (#7)
    “It seems to me, from what I understand from doctors, that’s really
    rare,” [Mr. Akin said of pregnancies from rape.] “If it’s a legitimate rape,
    the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down. But let’s
    assume that maybe that didn’t work or something: I think there should be
    some punishment, but the punishment ought to be of the rapist, and not
    attacking the child.”
    Dave Catanese, Politico Reporter,
    Defends Todd Akin Rape Comments
    [“So perhaps some can agree that all rapes that are reported are not
    actually rapes? Or are we gonna really deny that for PC sake?” he said.
    “So looks like he meant to say — ‘If a woman was REALLY raped, it’s
    statistically less likely for her to get pregnant.’ What’s the science?”]
    and here (#89)
    Chris and Dana Loesch. The conservative commentary power couple both
    lept to Akin’s defense. Chris claimed that “what [Akin] said was medically
    correct” while Dana wrote that Akin’s comments were less bad than his
    opponent Claire McCaskill’s record by “any real standard of measurement.”
    WASHINGTON — A Democratic official says Sandra Fluke will try to solidify President Barack Obama’s support among women during a speech next month at the Democratic National Convention.
    Fluke is the Georgetown University student who gained notoriety after conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh called her a slut for supporting Obama’s health care law requiring contraception coverage.
    Republicans deny the Democratic charge that the GOP is waging a “war on women.” Ann Romney, the GOP hopeful’s wife, is expected to counter the accusation at the GOP convention next week. The Democratic official demanded anonymity in order to speak candidly about plans that have not been released publicly. The news comes as Republicans urge Senate candidate Todd Akin to abandon his bid over comments he made about rape.
    Bryan Fischer: Akin: Hyenas in the GOP ignore medical science, eat their own
    The slavering, slobbering hyenas in the Republican party, by tearing at the flesh of their own senatorial candidate Todd Akin, are doing their best to blow their shot at taking control of the Senate. By eating their own, they are consuming themselves. And they seem too brainless to know it.
    You expect a Jaws-like attack of this nature from winger-left liberal sharks, who mercilessly go for the carotid artery whenever they smell blood in the water. But this mindless, freakish and frenzied forcible assault on one of their own by the GOP and its allies in the conservative punditocracy could be the thing that hands the Missouri senate seat to the hapless Claire McCaskill.
    If he loses this race, it will be the fault of party poobahs, not Todd Akin. One of the party leaders actually suggested last night that the GOP try to run a third-party challenge to their own candidate. That would be a certifiably guaranteed way to forfeit victory to the opposition. You can ask Bill Clinton all about that.
    Akin’s words, for which he apologized even though he had no need to, were right. He was entirely correct to say that pregnancies in cases of forcible rape are rare. Even if the exaggerated figures of the pro-abortion medical community are accurate, pregnancies due to rape amount to just 0.005% of all pregnancies. That’s rare in anybody’s book. Because of the horror of assault rape – which ought to be a capital crime again in the U.S. as it was for most of our history – we can be grateful for that.
    Akin has confirmed Romney is a complete fake on the issue of abortion…but this comes as no surprise….. Akin has also given Romney the opportunity to prove he cannot be controlled by women because they wistle heavy death metal slayer tunes from their vagina. So far Romney has shown he lacks the stomach to face a screaming mad prostitute with the same skills of a Vladimir Putin style Madonna put down. This isn’t Akin’s problem…Its Romney’s problem…He should have known the vagina monologues were coming even though feminists are aware Romney is not a real threat to abortion rights.
    So truth be damned, if it gets in the way of the elections.
    Shallow, Hoft. REALLY shallow.
    “Until Obama is defeated, the GOP has announced a moratorium on any condemnation of killing your own infant children, because the election matters more!”
    Can you please stop with these “It begins” Every time you add that as part of your headline, it is never true. This began long ago but was brought to the forefront when the dems tried to pull a fast one, what…January or February…throwing her at the committee when it was too late to properly vet her. These people plan ahead. She was always going to be the poster slut for taxpayer funded birth control pills and abortions and their contrived republican war on women. Did you think this issue faded from their agenda? Hell, no. It was always going to be part of their platform.
    Bammy cannot run on his record. They need distractions.
    So you can whine and moan and blame Akin or Rush or whomever you want. The dems show us every day of the week what they’re up to and if you choose to ignore them that’s your problem.
    Yet, instead of demanding accountability on Soetoro/Obama’s Columbia records and all of the sealed records behind the man himself to determine allegiance, the best that conservatives in power, behind the microphone or behind the TV cameras have done is to turn what should be a national security issue into a Republican presidential strategy. Those who watched the Sean Hannity program last evening had front row seats into how the assertion by Wayne Allyn Root was molded into a political game of “I’ll show you mine if you show me yours.” Have we, as a people, reached the glass ceiling of our collective intellectual prowess and concern for the future of our nation by reducing a vital national security issue into a mere election strategy?
    The elected leaders sworn to uphold the laws and protect our nation have had four years to properly address the questions regarding the bona fides of the man known as Barack Hussein Obama. The conservatives of the airwaves have had ample opportunities to step up and define ethics and integrity by their actions. Both have failed us, and failed us miserably.’
    Barry Soetoro, the Invisible Man
    Hussein is the issue, not Akin.
    Indeed.
    “It Begins: Stanley Ann Dunham has a baby Communist to be raised from birth to take America.”
    That’s when “it” begun. Here, at least.
    “It Begins: Mao enacts Great Leap Forward.”
    “It Begins: New School formed in NYC.”
    “It Begins: Lucifer is tossed out of Heaven.”
  • Sasja
    Hope and change degenerated to hoax and chains. They can’t run on that so they picked Forward which isn’t as exciting as the hopey changey tripe they spewed in 2008, but Bammy isn’t exciting anymore so why should their slogan be any different?
    Your last paragraph belies your last sentence.
    Hussein is the issue, not Akin.
    And your last para:
    The elected leaders sworn to uphold the laws and protect our nation have had four years to properly address the questions regarding the bona fides of the man known as Barack Hussein Obama. The conservatives of the airwaves have had ample opportunities to step up and define ethics and integrity by their actions. Both have failed us, and failed us miserably.’
    I’d say cowardice and godlessness among both the Left and the Right are the issue.
    Taqyi. There are days when I think we are on a journey already chosen and that we are almost to the final battle. The “Winds of War” are blowing hard in the middle east. We may have entered a new cold war era with Russia and China is saber rattling against the Phillipines again. I don’t know if defeating this regime in November will stem the tide. I do know that if this devil wins another term our Republic will be lost and with it, the world.
    which candidate will they support/crucify when the following
    is an issue, and it will be an issue sooner than anyone thinks..
    Killing babies no different from abortion, experts say (#63)
    [Parents should be allowed to have their newborn babies killed
    because they are “morally irrelevant” and ending their lives is
    no different to abortion, a group of medical ethicists linked to
    Oxford University has argued.]
    Might want to listen to Dick Morris on Greta’s show today.
    He has a happier take on how this Akin thing is playing out for Republicans.
    Not working, most likely, as well as the Dems would want.
    Thank you for posting this article again. I tried to find it earlier to show to family members and now I have it. It’s totally unbelievable the way the minds of these people churn, it certainly isn’t reasonable intelligent thought.
    Good grief. As a woman, this is just plain condescending and insulting. Apparently aiming for that low hanging fruit (as usual) who can’t think for themselves.
    I really think they are going to regret making this social issue a focus of their convention, because the videos of Obama’s own words and about his actions regarding partial birth abortions and botched abortions will come out on a grand scale. Sickening stuff.
    When Republicans had majority before, they didn’t do anything about the abortion issue. There are too many other things to worry about anyway. If people want to go to hell, they will, one way or another.
    Ann is stirring up controversy so she gets free air time to pimp her new book, which she was more than happy to talk about on Hannity’s radio show today.
    So far this election cycle none of the Prog/Dem/Leftist-manufactured “hot button” issues has been anything but massive failures for Barry and the Dems.
    its clear the republicans are terrified of contraversy…hence the reason of pushing akin out. its too bad ‘publicans are STILL out of touch with the grassroots…(dana is no part of grassroots as she is too involved with politics anymore). conservatives are once again on defense, when we should be playing offense. but we are an apathetic bunch. We can CHANGE the conversation….but we are way too busy condeming our OWN candidates. our condemnation of akin has just confrimed the re-election of mcckaskill. thanks repub’s, you’ve just put more green behind the 8 ball!!
    re Your last paragraph belies your last sentence
    How so? If Akin had simply used the word ‘rape’ without the qualifier ‘legitimate’ all would be well, by using the phrase legitimate rape he made himself into a shiny object for Hussein to use as distraction from Hussein. But Hussein IS the issue, not Akin. Akin has not been wreaking havoc with the U.S. for the last four years, bin Obama has.
    re cowardice and godlessness. So true. Are there no longer courageous men and women of faith in God and country in power any longer? Have those in power become so sotted with decadence and easy living they no longer have any feeling but contempt for the ‘little people’, even so-called conservatives? Never mind, I think we all know.
    Bryan Fischer: Akin: Hyenas in the GOP
    ignore medical science, eat their own..
    [The slavering, slobbering hyenas in the Republican party, by tearing at
    the flesh of their own senatorial candidate Todd Akin, are doing their best
    to blow their shot at taking control of the Senate. By eating their own,
    they are consuming themselves. And they seem too brainless to know it.]
    a sad Amen to that bit of truth.. 🙁
    [The bottom line for Shapiro? There is now “scientific evidence that
    stress delays time of conception in healthy women…even low levels
    of stress can have an impact on conception.” In fact, she adds,
    “Stress is the one consistent factor that shows an effect on how long
    it takes to get pregnant, of all the lifestyle factors studied to date.”
    Who knew? Well, Todd Akin, for one.]
    Let it die. Let the left cling to Akin because they only have that to talk about. They can’t talk about their record. They can’t talk about the economy. They can’t talk about jobs. ETC. Independents don’t care about Akin and honestly, half the country doesn’t even know who he is and don’t pay enough attention.
    Also, be grateful this happened in August. There’s a lot of election between now and November and the American people are notoriously fickle.
  • Hambone Jones
    That Fluke gal is one fine honkey. She alls got more fingerprints on her then the old FBI has on file.
  • President Obama has told us what he’s fighting for: “I want women to control their own health choices, just like I want my daughters to have the same opportunities as your sons.”
    Pretty amazing from the same guy who created over 700 agencies to oversee your health care in Obamacare. We all remember the organizational chart that showed us just exactly WHO will be making health care choices under Owebama care.
    Sandra F is the latest incarnation of Obama’s demented attempt to make humping insurance a cost to bear for all reasonable Americans. Hey, why shouldn’t an over indulged reprobate like her be a national example for all women. Soon to be further catapulted to national prominence as she upchucks her raunchy needs at the oh so sensitive, women embracing hoards at the DNC Convention. But then again, she needn’t worry, if all else fails, Obama will be there to assist to abort the creature if her commie boyfriend should slip up next time he drops one on her. Further yuck from the Clinton generation. Oh that, lowlife will be there too. So exciting for America.
