Hannity Tells Todd Akin to Resign …(He Must Resign By Tomorrow or We Are Screwed)

Sean Hannity told Todd Akin to resign today.
Real Clear Politics reported:

In an interview with nationally syndicated radio talk show host Sean Hannity this afternoon beleaguered U.S. Senate hopeful Todd Akin (R-Missouri) said he is staying in the race despite controversy and widespread condemnation of his remarks on rape.

“I’m announcing today that we’re going to stay in,” Akin said on the radio.

This led Hannity to ask if he is thinking about anyone but himself.

“As a political observer I see it differently here. I think for the next week all you’re going to hear from Democrats is your comments. And, look, I’m a Christian so I believe in forgiveness. And I can just tell by the sound of your voice that you’re very sincere in your apology. But I also — I think there is one political reality that I think has to be faced by you and your campaign and that is that you know, the reality here is that Democrats now have a ton of ammunition and they are now going to try to use these remarks to hurt everybody they can. And if I was put in that position, I would at least be thinking about what is in the best interest of the party. hat is in the best interest of, you know, Mitt Romney in this case. What is in the best interest of the people of Missouri, are they going to be able to hear a campaign about issues or is this going to be the distraction of the campaign. Are you — you’re not even considering that?” Hannity asked.

“Those are all legitimate points, Sean, and you know I’m trained as an engineer and you look at both sides of the equation and you say, ‘You know, what are the pros and the cons?’ On the other side, here you have somebody who is a conservative, unabashed pro-lifer where as Claire McCaskill is the exact opposite. And you got a real contrast and a simple choice for the people of the state of Missouri. And I think that strong voting record and that record that is the exact opposite of hers — the question is, does that overcome, you know, the question of people that are upset over one word spoken in one day in one sentence. And I think that there is an awful of people that believe in mercy and forgiveness and God’s love. I made a single error in one sentence,” Akin said.

Akin must resign by tomorrow or we are screwed. He would then have to go to court to get off the ballot. Democrats would fight that tooth and nail. Todd Akin must resign by 5:00 PM Tuesday August 21, 2012.

?????Is there another Republican on the ballot and available to run? What about an Independent? If not, keep him!

Why should his opponent get to play Barack Obama and run unopposed?

  • Kate

Christian values don’t seem to mean much to Democrats from what I have observed. If Akin wants Missouri to have another 6 years of Claire from hell, then he should stay in the race. If he is thinking of what is best for Missouri, he needs to get out. I am sure he is sincere. However, in politics, it won’t mean much. He’s a Republican, and they are held accountable. If a Dem had said it, we wouldn’t even be having this conversation.

  • CT

If Akins does not remove himself it will be due to his crotchety conceit and total lack of understanding of the American electorate. Apparently he still has no clue how much damage he has done and will yet do if he remains in the race.

This is why im getting so damned sick of celebrity mouth pieces that carry he “voice” of the right.
Even limbaugh pissed me off this last presidential cycle. Guess limbaugh had to at least once since we are human and cant always agree with each other 100% of the time.

But this total absolute BS nonsense of throwing constitutional conservatives under the bus in preference to someone who is currently popular because they talk a good game is asinine.

Hannity, limbaugh, malkin, coulter, palin all did it to Perry when he ran for president and kept the Right juggling from cain to newt to santorum and left us with romney (here is a shocking revelation to you guys who didnt already figure out, each of those twits ARE ALL INSIDER ESTABLISHMENT CRONY’s who vote the same way on the same bills and endorse the same politicians and make the same nominee LEFTIST actions we are all SICK of) because “Perry doesnt talk pretty and stumbles on his words” cost us a constitutional conservative that would have championed tax and welfare and congressional reforms and drastically changed our government for the better.
Instead now we are hoping to get in a democrat light candidate to replace obamao with and like any good battered wife, telling ourselves “maybe it wont be as bad as all the other times this time”

The reason one must use the term “legitimate” when using the term “rape” is because of the left redefining what rape is. In their mind, consent can be withdrawn expo facto.
Speak to any police department about the number of “rape” cases which are reported that clearly are not what any sane (read: non-left worldview) person would define as such. When I say police department, I mean speak to an actual police officer off the record (unless you believe the police are facilitators of rapists, in which case go away because you are hopeless).
“Rape and incest” they say. Infanticide has never been about it. Actual cases of such are minute at best (resulting in pregnancy, that is). If you did conceed these cases, one of two things would happen: the left would still insist on acting out their wretched bloodlust of killing human beings who are weaker than they, or the reported cases of rape/incest would increase by a magnitude of 1000.

Why can’t some of you stand up and defend a candidate who made a poor statement? At the very least, stop joining in the canibalism of our own.

Courage. Try it. You’ll find it quite uplifting. Who knows, perhaps it is not to late to reverse the cowering reaction that you have when someone says ” boo!”

  • JR Dogman

For those who are saying this is unfair, Democrats never get called on their outrageous gaffes — you’re right. But the GOP isn’t the Democrats; like it or not, there’s a double-standard with our candidates, whereas there seem to be zero standards with regard to theirs. Our candidates don’t only run against their actual opponents but against the media as well.

Secondly, Akin’s comments were not only tone-deaf, they were moronic: women’s bodies do not reject sperm because of their trauma while being raped. Akin is exactly the distraction Democrats have been praying for. This shouldn’t even be a discussion — Akin should have had a coherent answer for the pro-life question, but he didn’t. His ill-preparedness is his own fault, and he should do the honorable thing and step down.

Lastly, I think his replacment should be either of the two other candidates from the primary.

Akin can not win. He needs to get out. Now.

If he had said this very early in the primary, he might could have cleaned it up. It is much too late and since he killed his chance of winning, himself, he needs to go quickly.

I consider he should go just on the stupidity of the statement itself. Even if I had voted for him, I would not vote for him after this one, and I feel it is okay to vote for a turd instead of Obama. Akin built this one by himself and it’s impossible to defend. I wonder if all the “small government” social conservatives (aka bible thumpers and busybodies) would care to tell us HOW they will implement their “no abortion” nirvana? Since laws against bank robbery has not stopped bank robberys, how is a LAW against abortion going to stop abortion? Will you put a policeman or an “observer” in every doctors office in the country? Or will you take the “Chinese” method and force every woman able to procreate to PROVE they are/are not pregnant every month? Is that how you will “solve” the unemployment problem? And if so, will you charge women that have a miscarriage with MURDER or manslaughter? Will you start giving stillbirths autopsys? How far does your religious superstition require you to delve into actions that are NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS?

  • Mad Hatter

    Fiftycal,

If we use your “since laws against bank robbery has not stopped bank robberys” logic, we might as well erase all laws from the books. And if you haven’t been able to put one plus one together, laws are an attempt to have a right and wrong in society and set punishment for those who break laws.

Strong enough laws curve illegal behavior, it can never be stopped at 100%. At least efforts are made to do so. As far as abortion goes, it’s simple. I’m sure you’re against torture of those “poor little innocent Muslims, I mean, victims” at Gitmo. Then I’m sure you would be against the torture that takes place in the abortion mills, right?

I’m sure you’re against those “poor little innocent Muslims, opps, I did it again, I mean victims of that mean ole torture” down at Gitmo. Therefore you probably cry out for their human rights to be protected. Then I’m sure you would be against the unborn children having their human rights violated in the abortion mills, right?

I’m sure you’re against child abuse, right? Then I’m sure you would be against the child abuse that takes place in the abortion mills, right?

Bible thumpers? Religious superstition? Is that all you atheist can come up with, name calling? Wow, how impressive. By the way, what ever happened to being “open minded” about other peoples beliefs? I love how you atheist never practice what you lecture.

Well the whole rape and incest question is a problem for Republicans. If they truly believe abortion is murder then one crime does not justify another. It is a tragedy a woman was raped but it is a greater tragedy to murder a child as a result.

However, forcing a woman to carry a rapists child to term seems incredibly heartless since pregnancy is not an easy thing and could be seen as punishing the woman for something she did not do.

    A real quandary.

On the other hand if we believe our souls really do come from Heaven then killing the body of one unborn baby is immaterial. That soul will just enter a different body. Afterall, the soul was not destroyed, only the body.

This is a tangled web with many contradictions and no easy answers. It is too bad we cannot ask the baby themselves “What would you like us to do?”

ask yourself, i mean, using your
    logic, you were once aborted..

but hey, that’s old school, you really gotta
keep up, the culture of death is expanding..

Killing babies no different from abortion, experts say

[Parents should be allowed to have their newborn babies killed
because they are “morally irrelevant” and ending their lives is
no different to abortion, a group of medical ethicists linked to
    Oxford University has argued.]

    The pro-choice case for infanticide.

[When circumstances occur after birth such that they would have justified abortion, what we call after-birth abortion should be permissible. … We propose to call this practice ‘after-birth abortion’, rather than ‘infanticide,’ to emphasize that the moral status of the individual killed is comparable with that of a fetus … rather than to that of a child. Therefore, we claim that killing a newborn could be ethically permissible in all the circumstances where abortion would be. Such circumstances include cases where the newborn has the potential to have an (at least) acceptable life, but the well-being of the family is at risk.]
