Ethiopia’s Meseret Defar won the women’s 5,000 meter final Friday night.
It was an amazing sight.
Defar crossed the finish line with her arms in the air. Then she knelt down and pulled a religious picture of Mother Mary from her top. She kissed it and fell to the track weeping.

    I saw this! Not a word from the media. She held it to the camera. I felt she was crying out against the persecution that is becoming more and more common in Ethiopia today. Another Ethiopian runner that night was wearing a huge cross necklace. God bless and protect them.

    Christianity in Ethiopia dates all the way back to the 1st century AD. The largest Christian denomination is the Ethiopian Orthodox church and has a membership of more than 32 million.

    The Orthodox faith reveres Mary as the Theotokos, the Godbearer. The icons of Mary almost always show her holding the infant Jesus.

    Obama’s foreign policy has victimized Christians & secular or moderate Muslims. His foreign policy has spread Sharia Law, fascism, and suffering. Libya, Egypt, and Tunisia have less freedom because of Obama’s strategic intervention.

    Obama’s policies have created hardship in Ethiopia, just as they have in Syria. The Syrian rebels are for the most part not Syrians but foreign agitators, despite lies to the contrary coming out of the Obama Whitehouse.

    If the world was sane; if the UN was not a cesspool of Third World despotism; and if members of Congress were mindful of their oaths of office, Obama would have been impeached by now. It is ludicrous that he is even allowed to seek a second term.

    In her own way, the young runner (Meseret Defar) is Tebowing. May God bless her and keep her safe.

    Bangladesh (AP) — At least 13 devotees have been killed by lightning outside a mosque in northeastern Bangladesh.

    Local police chief Bayes Ahmed says 20 other people were injured by the lightning late Friday in Sylhet district. The victims were struck by the lightning as they were exiting the mosque following special prayers tied to the holy month of Ramadan.

    Ahmed said Saturday that some of those who were killed died at the scene, while others died on the way to the hospital. He said the imam who led the prayers was among the dead.

    What a beautiful and thoughtful act – - to pay thanks and homage amid the challenges and strife she faces in her home country.

    Can we say that her gesture of Thanks and Reverence is called – - Defarring? Akin to Tebowing. . .

    Perhaps more of us need to “Defar” and “Tebow” at the voting booth when change comes in November to the White House . . and see MSM heads explode with hate & contempt.

    G-d bless this girl. She brings to the forefront something that the Vintage Media thinks they can suppress by not talking about it: belief and trust in G-d; particularly Christ. Despite lving in places where believing in Him can get you killed as in the case of Shahbaz Bhatti.
