Barack Obama Slams MO Republican Todd Akin at NBA Fundraiser

Thank You Todd Akin.
Thank You Akin campaign media consultant, Rex Elsass.

Thank you Todd Akin for bringing down the Republican Party with you.
Missouri Republican Todd Akin continues to make headlines.

Obama used Todd Akin’s outrageous rape remarks tonight in New York speech.
Yahoo-ABC reported:

President Obama laid into embattled Republican Rep. Todd Akin of Missouri for his recent comments on rape and abortion, telling a crowd of campaign donors on Wednesday night that the congressman must have “somehow missed science class.”

“Recently some of you have been paying attention to the commentary about the senator (sic) from Missouri, Mr. Akin, who … the interesting thing here is that this is an individual who sits on the House Committee on Science and Technology but somehow missed science class,” Obama said, drawing laughter and applause.

“And it’s representative of the desire to go backwards instead of forwards and fight fights that we thought were settled 20 or 30 years ago,” he added.

The president was addressing a group of 120 current and former NBA stars and other wealthy supporters attending the $20,000 per plate “Obama Classic” fundraiser in New York City. Spotted in the crowd were co-host Michael Jordan and his fiancee, Yvette Prieto, Bill Bradley, Patrick Ewing, Education Secretary Arne Duncan and Walt “Clyde” Frazier.

“This is my dream team,” Obama told the group at the top of his remarks.

Meanwhile the Obama Campaign continued to link the Romney-Ryan ticket to Todd Akin in another donations email on Wednesday night.

    Ryan hammers on Obama economy

[As chairman of the House Budget Committee, Ryan authored a budget
plan aimed at reducing debt largely by restructuring Medicare and other
    entitlement programs.

“This is a debate that we want,” Ryan said.
“This is a debate that we’re going to win.”

Obama and Democrats have attacked that plan, largely because it calls
for creating an alternative to the Medicare program that would give future
retirees a fixed amount of money to purchase private health coverage.
Ryan, however, fired back, citing $716 billion in planned cuts to Medicare
that are scheduled to occur under the federal health care overhaul. Obama
has said the savings would be used for other health care costs, including
    preventive care for senior citizens.]

Well, what a lovely set of wimps we have on board here — I mean particularly the crush-Akin-under -the-bus GatewayPundit hosts, whomever among you is doing the writing this go-round.

So, big guys: You gonna let the leftist media set the terms of the debate – – – – – AGAIN? Is that it?

Pause. Just pause for a minute and think about what you’re doing. You’re following the leftist playbook, replete with character assassination from a MARXIST press hell-bent on distracting EVERYONE from the disaster that has been the Obama presidency. Moreover, to compound the evil, you are more than willing to dismiss, DISMISS, the FACT that every child conceived, in whatever blissful or horrible situation, is STILL A CHILD CONCEIVED. A person. A human being.

If America is determined to turn its back on life, then America will receive the death it deserves, in whatever form that takes. Todd Akin said nothing that warrants his being catapulted into the hall of infamy, as the left, the Republican establishment, and many conservatives have pushed him. For you, he’s just a convenient “headline,” the grist of the mill to show up how “dangerous” pro-lifers are in a nation hell-bent on exterminating the next generation, without remorse or guilty conscience.

What is happening to Akin is essentially domestic terrorism, and just like most terrorism, it wouldn’t be the least bit effective if there weren’t so many spineless people in the GOP ready and willing to run away screaming. Terrorists depend on publicity to achieve their ultimate goals of fear and hysteria, and the GOP has played right into their hand. The media screamed “fire” and rather than sitting tight and dispatching someone to put it out, they ran screaming like a bunch of children.

As much as I hate to say it, the GOP really is the stupid party, and we’re being played like a fiddle. Nobody in the GOP seems to have the courage to stand up to these media assaults, and until that changes, we are going to be at a serious disadvantage.

I mean, they have the Democrat sample +9 in friggin OH! I mean c’mon. When have Democrats EVER turned out +9 in OH? How about a nice +6 in FL?

The sad part is that even though Independents are going to Romney by 6 points in each state, Obama still wins by a mile.

Also, just as in their last poll, Obama is conveniently above 50% in each state.

I’m really surprised at the conservatives here who continue to support Akin. I’m as conservative and pro-life as can be, but that one simple term ‘legitimate rape’ completely offended me as a woman, and made it absolutely impossible to defend this man. To use the clarifying term ‘legitimate rape’ means that he believes there is such a thing as ‘illegitimate rape’, which can only mean somehow the victim is responsible. I don’t care how pro-life he is. I don’t care how conservative he is. His thinking is embarrassingly backwards. He is tainting our entire party and this distracts from the economy. Well, that does it. The hand had been dealt. Now we know that anyone who has been just too darn busy trying to make a living and hasn’t heard of the Akin Affair, but intended to vote for Akin in November, will not vote for him now because Obama has slammed him. Now we know that those Republican voters are going to be swayed by Obama, and his telling the public how Akin must have missed a science class.

Sorry, this doesn’t make any sense to me, Jim Hoft. You are expecting me to believe that those who were going to vote Republican are now going to be influenced by Obama? I agree and also what Jen said. Linking ‘legitimate’ with rape and then to explain that the body was suppose to take care of it, felt like someone hit you between the eyes with an offensive comment.

I suspect this issue is only defended by those that believe there should be no exception for health, rape or incest. If you do not believe that, you are offended by the way he said it.

    Rape Pregnancies Are Rare

    John C. Willke, M.D.
    April 1999

[Finally, factor in what is certainly one of the most important reasons why a rape victim rarely gets pregnant, and that’s physical trauma. Every woman is aware that stress and emotional factors can alter her menstrual cycle. To get and stay pregnant a woman’s body must produce a very sophisticated mix of hormones. Hormone production is controlled by a part of the brain that is easily influenced by emotions. There’s no greater emotional trauma that can be experienced by a woman than an assault rape. If we use the 50 percent figure, we have a final figure of 225 (or 370) women pregnant each year. These numbers closely match the 200 that have been documented in clinical studies.

So assault rape pregnancy is extremely rare. If we use the figure of 200, it is 4 per state per year. Even if we use a figure of 500, we’re talking about only ten per state, per year. In the United States in one year, there are more than 6 million pregnancies. Roughly 3 million eventuate in live birth, 1.5 million are aborted and 500,000 miscarry. And so while each assault rape pregnancy is a tragedy for the mother (not for the baby, though), we can with confidence say that such pregnancies amount to a minuscule fraction of the total annual pregnancies in the United States. Further, less than half of assault rape pregnancies are aborted, even though that course of action tends to be vigorously pushed by those around the woman.

One final thought, Sandra Mahkorn, in two excellent studies, has asked such women what was their chief complaint? One might fully assume it was the fact that she was pregnant, but that is incorrect. Her chief complaint was how other people treated her. Such treatment ranged from negative, to simply getting little support from those around her. Even in a culture that offers little support and aggressively pushes abortion as a solution, fewer that half of such babies are killed by abortion. Think of how many fewer yet there would be if each pregnant victim of a rape were given the support, aid and tender loving care that she and her baby deserve.]

    Full Interview With Todd Akin

    more here (#7)

“It seems to me, from what I understand from doctors, that’s really
rare,” [Mr. Akin said of pregnancies from rape.] “If it’s a legitimate rape,
the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down. But let’s
assume that maybe that didn’t work or something: I think there should be
some punishment, but the punishment ought to be of the rapist, and not
    attacking the child.”

    Dave Catanese, Politico Reporter,
    Defends Todd Akin Rape Comments

[“So perhaps some can agree that all rapes that are reported are not
actually rapes? Or are we gonna really deny that for PC sake?” he said.
“So looks like he meant to say — ‘If a woman was REALLY raped, it’s
statistically less likely for her to get pregnant.’ What’s the science?”]

Chris and Dana Loesch. The conservative commentary power couple both
lept to Akin’s defense. Chris claimed that “what [Akin] said was medically
