The Obama Record: Deep Poverty at Record High, Homeless Families on the Rise & 6.4 Million More Living Below Poverty Line

Under Barack Obama: Deep poverty is at record high level, homeless families are on the rise, and the media is silent.

Barack Obama is not just the food stamp president.
A record one in seven Americans is on food stamps today thanks to Barack Obama.

But, that’s not all.
Barack Obama is also the poverty and pain president.
Under Obama, 6.4 million Americans are living below the poverty line and there is a record number of Americans living in deep poverty.
PJ Media reported:

The nation’s homelessness czar in the George W. Bush administration says that programs enacted back then have had a dramatic effect on cutting the chronically homeless population, but warns that families are increasingly being left out in the cold as the economy struggles to recover.

“There have never been as many poor people in our country as there are now,” Philip F. Mangano told PJM today, adding that the “highest number ever in the history of our country” are living in “deep poverty,” which is 50 percent below the poverty line and under.

“One of the great indicators of homelessness is poverty,” he said. “Poverty is the waystation before you fall into homelessness.” And with the economic indicators such as the unemployment rate stagnant as they have been, “you can anticipate more people falling into homelessness.”

They’re startling, tragic facts that rarely make headlines in a campaign dominated by conversations about the middle class and a Congress inundated in debate over middle- and upper-income tax cut extensions.

“The poverty rate has never jumped higher than in the past few years and the media is silent on it,” Mangano said. “Most media coverage is focused on middle-class trauma during the recession, not focused on the very poor.”

With Obama we have more and more poverty and more and more pain.
America can’t take four more years of his failed policies.

That is what Obama wants, make everyone so poor they can only depend on the government to survive. Everybody under his thumb.

  • ……and in #Califailure, San Bernardino County is the test bed for a national roll out of Eminent Domain to seize homes and other private property.

The ‘was-a-secret’ plan is fronted by a #HeilObama campaign bundler who by sheer chance dies stuff for George Soros, along with Bubba’s old Dep. Treas. Sec. — But I’m sure this is all a big misunderstanding and we’re all simply crazy bitter clingers for even bringing it up.

Well, yes – this goes without saying really. Where else does anyone think all those millions upon millions of people who no longer qualify for unemployment and can’t get a job go? Or the millions upon millions who are working a part-time job or a 32-hour a week “full time” job for minimum wage?

The MSM has been portraying the homeless as mostly made up of drug addicts, alcoholics and crazy people for more than twenty years when the truth of the matter is that a fair number of them are folks who simply couldn’t make enough money to keep a roof over their heads.

This is nothing new, except to the MFM. The BBC was reporting on record number of Americans in poverty back in Sept. 2011.

The number of Americans living in poverty rose to 46.2 million last year, nearly one in six people, according to the US Census Bureau’s annual report.

The 2010 data shows the poverty rate at 15.1%, from 14.3% in 2009. The number of Americans without health insurance also rose slightly to 49.9 million.

The poverty rate was the highest since 1983, and tied with the level in 1993.

The number of Americans living below the poverty line has now risen for four years in a row.

  • this is all part of the plan to bring about the glorious revolution. make things so bad you will rise up and overthrow the government, then the marxists will step in and seize control to create their marxist utopia. they don’t seem to understand they already control the government. this failure is what every socialist economy accomplishes. create an economy in which the politicans give a majority of people just enough to keep them permanently in poverty. with no incentive to work we will have the same stagnant, unproductive economy every marxist country has one in which the PRODUCTS of production belong exclusively to the ruleing political class.

if we don’t take our income back from the politicans and have a citizen dominant economy this is our permanent future.

The scary thing is as more fall into poverty the democratic voting block grows.

    This is by design.

    The liberals are destroying America.

“6.4 million Americans living below the poverty line” – just wondering: are they Americans or are they people currently residing in the US?

Actually, Jim made a mistake when writing that. It is not a mere “6.4 million American’s living below the poverty line” it is “6.4 million MORE Americans living below the poverty line.

I think that Jim also linked the wrong source for that figure above, as I can not find any mention of the poverty rate in the article. That statistic is borne out here, however:

We checked the bureau’s poverty figures to compare with the Senate Republican Conference’s data and found that the group was comparing the number of Americans in poverty in 2008 to the number in 2010. In other words, the Senate group used the bureau’s 2008 statistic — 39.8 million — for the number of people in poverty on Obama’s inauguration day in January 2009. And it used the 2010 statistic — 46.2 million, the most recent — for its count of poor Americans in April 2012.

Note that while the 2008 figure is likely fairly close for obama’s 2009 inauguration, it has been 2 years since the most recently available statistics were gathered, so this number if likely incorrect by some little bit. Since there has been no significant positive change in the economy in that time, I would expect 6.4 million to be a low-ball figure.

    Why so many comments deleted?

Are they so hateful that we can’t keep them as evidence of the liberal’s black heart?

  • Granny

    @spider –

I’m not sure comments actually were deleted. I’ve noticed for some while that the count is almost always off. The main page will say there is 1 comment when there are none and so forth.

Alternatively Jim has installed a script that obliterates comments that use certain words automatically but the script doesn’t renumber the thread. Given some of the lunacy people post here with the all-too-obvious intent of making us all look like candidates for the looney bin or Homeland Security re-education camps, it wouldn’t be a bad thing if he has.

  • snap boy

#11 granny, so what percentage of these people – however many millions – actually reside legally within our borders? I note that the DC has an article stating that USDA has buddied up with Mexico to provide food stamps to just about any level of Mexican you could stumble across.

Obama grew up in a local culture deeply steeped in drug use and dependency. He understands dependency and how it destroys the Human Spirit. Obama needs as many people as he can to fall into the trap of welfare addiction with him as the supplier, the drug dealer if you wish. That is how he plans to “transform” Americans from Citizens to his “Subjects”. Obama want to “help” welfare recipients just as another fix of heroin will “help” junkies.

If some Americans are concerned Mitt Romney is “only for the rich”, consider that we, as a nation, used to be rich. We had the highest standard of living in the world for decades.

🙁 And soon I fear that a flood of ‘American white-backs’ will flood into Canada, in search of a better life.

    What’s wrong?

High unemployment is good! These unemployed people can now become dependent on WIC or Food Stamps and vote for me!

Look, I am just taking out the work rules in our welfare system. This way people on welfare will not be required to do any work! They didn’t make welfare succeed. I did!

Let me be clear, I take from the productive and give to the slothful. It’s a great way of buying votes… at the Taxpayer’s expense! Ha-ha!

And when my cronies hear of a government bailout then they give themselves a fat bonus for doing a crappy job! When Barney Frank screwed Fannie my cronies demanded a bail out.

When we bailed out of Fannie with the Taxpayer’s money my crony James Johnson raked in $21,000,000.00! Is that so wrong?

    http://michellemalkin.com/2012/07/18/your-guide-to-sleazy-democratic-party-backed-banks/

There are many more “community re-investment” shake-downs to do and so little time to do them. That’s why I need for more years in office. Vote for me. Send me 300.00 before midnight.

My campaign bus is belching black smoke and David Axelrod has a new scam to foist upon my Hollywood donors. It’s the old “Fear the Mongering” scam.

I’ll tell Hollywood that if I lose the elections all their 0bama donation money will be spent in Switzerland while I am on vacation! Besides Hollywood always votes for me – so screw them! Hollywood sucks! I cannot answer anymore questions. Good day.

He wants people to be poor so they can overthrow a demonized Capitalist system.

  • Militant Conservative

Yes, yes, yes we all know he is using class envy to gin up an overthrow of

our system. what he is counting on is the poor to have the “equipment”.

Most of them have no equipment and many a obese welfare terds.

    Unitended consequences of welfare subsistence.

Me, I’m in shape and armed to the teeth. I also have good relations with the

local Sheriff and cops. (most are my masonic brothers).

This is not going to go well for the terds of society. It will help us purge the

We keep saying Obama when this is really progressive Democrat policies responsible for this slaughter.

The GOP would be well served to start pointing that out. Change the personification while still showing Obama is king of the progressive Democrats. We need congress and the presidency.

  • Blacque Jacques Shellacque

This whole thing is easy to explain: We’re currently in a depression, and it won’t be regarded as such until after Obie has left office. By then, it’s likely that the Republican will find themselves the “owners” of the title, courtesy of the Democrat Party propaganda arm, known as the media.

Poeple need to realize this “collapse” is all part of Obama’s plan. He hates America. He wants to bring us down. Dreams of his father. Go see 2016 Obama’s America and drag your friends who still do not get it. The film is good for anyone who is still in LA LA land.

  • I’m not a racist; I don’t like Biden or Pelosi either

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that the Lefties rarely (never?) post in response to articles like this one … you know, the articles that provide facts and figures about Obysmal’s job performance? Whereas on articles like the “ghost of Brietbart”, they come out of the woodwork! No coincidence methinks.

Joe Blow is exactly right. The situation we’re in is NOT a result of Obama’s inexperience, lack of skill or “mistakes”. His intent is to destroy our economy and to “Cloward/Piven” (overwhelm) the system so it collapses. I’d say that he’s been extraordinarily successful, and that the commies in Congress have, and continue to be, very helpful to him. The checks and balances in our government are gone, except for the facade. This is not a poltical campaign going on- it’s an all out war for the survival of our Republic.

More Than Half a Trillion Dollars Spent on Welfare But Poverty Levels Unaffected

The federal government is not making much headway reducing poverty despite spending hundreds of billions of dollars, according to a study by the libertarian Cato Institute.

Despite an unprecedented increase in federal anti-poverty spending, the national poverty rate has not declined, the study finds.

“[S]ince President Obama took office [in January 2009], federal welfare spending has increased by 41 percent, more than $193 billion per year,” the study says.

Federal welfare spending in fiscal year 2011 totaled $668 billion, spread out over 126 programs, while the poverty rate that remains high at 15.1 percent, roughly where it was in 1965, when President Johnson declared a federal War on Poverty.

In 1966, the first year after Johnson declared war on poverty, the national poverty rate was 14.7 percent, according to Census Bureau figures. Over time, the poverty rate has fluctuated in a narrow range between 11 and 15 percent, only falling into the 11 percent range for a few years in the late 1970’s.[…..]

I see this every time I go to the local Aldi’s grocery store. It seems like every other person is pulling out a government EBT card… and buying lots of junk. (Hey – it’s my tax money they’re using, so you can bet I look in their carts!)
A friend of mine who is a cashier says food stamp/EBT use has skyrocketed at her Aldi’s store since Obama took office. (Aldi’s is a discount, bag-your-own grocery store, in case you don’t know.) She told me it’s easily 70% of their business now, and that most EBT people are, as she puts it, “fat slobs” who buy junk food, soda, bottled water, candy, etc. She’s working her tail off at this store to take care of her family, and she has to deal with these people daily. She says it takes a lot of strength not to say something as she checks them out. (She’d lose her job is she did.) She says, “I bite my tongue at least 100 times a day.”

How can we all just blame Obama for everything? Obama walked into this situation. Yes, things are getting worse since he has been in office yet the same people who re elected stupid Busch are complaining about Obama. The recession was on its way long before Obama became president. It pisses me off that he is taking the blame for something Busch created. I believe in our president and I believe he want’s what is best for everyone. Obama is for the people and that is what we need in a president.
And to RESTLESS, how do you know that person who is using food stamps doesn’t pay taxes as well? Just because someone gets food stamps doesn’t mean they don’t work and contribute. The reason your friend is seeing an increase in the use of food stamps is because more people are unemployed not by choice or making less money than they were before.
