It was a historic night yesterday at the London 2012 Olympics.
Saudi Arabia allowed women to compete on the team for the first time.

They even let them march into Olympic stadium.

  1. Very nice.
Is there a women’s sumo wrestling event this time?

  2. I bet those women were thrilled – we should be applauding the step forward. I’ll bet in another 10 years those women will be dressed like all other athletes for their competitions. As for the opening ceremonies, the men were in costume too.
(What sports do the man and the woman on the right compete in?)

  3. “Saudis Allow Women to March in Olympics Opening Ceremony… In Black Hijabs Behind the Men”

…Something American’s will NEVER SEE on the N(itwit)B(iased-socialist)C(lowns) network’s delayed and edited broadcast of the olympics. But, then, these leftist propagandists would rather focus on the phony Repub “War on Women” than discuss the real islamic war on women.

  4. Looks like a Klan rally. The white robes march up front. And the black(clad) servants follow up in the rear.

  5. We noted that IOC Prez Jock Rogge (in his speech immediately after the Parade of Nations) commended the Great Oly movement because for the first time every nation sent women athletes and so what a Great Day for Gender Equality, and everyone dutifully applauded that Great Leftist feelgood mantra because as we all know The Left’s first priority is Equality not Liberty and as we all know he was talking about the Arab States because the camera showed us those wonderful Islamic participants and yada, yada, yada

    and we thought…

y’know, there is a Middle Eastern State that has observed Gender Equality for lo all these many years because they’re alot like us, the U.S.
    uhhhh, that would be Israel.

  6. btw, I watched the BBC’s live, commercial-free feed on the ‘net

  7. #9, or anyone else: so, what happened last night? I couldn’t tell from the feed

  8. pi$$ off and go home

  9. Forgot about the BBC. Won’t make that mistake again tonight. Was I the only one that just wanted some of the announcers to SHUT UP? I do not want to hear about politics during the Olympics!

  10. Is Glutonous eating considered an Olympic sport? Because the man and woman on the right would give some stiff competition in that category.

  11. What on earth is so holy about a headscarf? A Saudi woman told me that rule is NOT in the Koran. It’s just because Mo had one of his wives cover up due to jealously if a man looked at her. Does anyone know more about this?

dang hard to come by info, that said..

    Saudi Arabia

info ie: Restricted Civil Liberties: expand

[Women’s freedom of movement is severely restricted: legally, they need permission to leave their homes, and are forbidden from leaving their local neighbourhood without the company of their mahram, although these legal restrictions may not always be applied in practice. Women are not allowed to drive cars, although as of 2010, there were indications that this restriction might soon be lifted. They can only access certain public services if accompanied by their mahram, and need to be accompanied by a male relative when travelling inside or outside the country. Women are however now able to check into hotels or rent apartments on their own, and a women-only hotel opened in Riyadh in 2008. Saudi Arabia also applies rules of strict gender segregation: women are forbidden to be in physical contact with unrelated males, and unrelated men and women are separated in all public places. Mosques, most ministries and some public streets are reserved for men. Doumato reports that women have only limited access to parks, museums and libraries, which they can only visit at certain times. The Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice (CPVPV) police are responsible for maintaining gender segregation in public places, and reportedly are often arbitrary and vindictive in their interpretation of laws relating to contact between men and women, and other aspects of ‘morality’, often harassing and physically abusing women who they deem to be breaking the law.]

    sad sick sharia..

for the record, somehow I linked to a clean, clear BBC feed- it was like watching C-SPAN.
there were moments when an announcer would’a been nice to describe the visual.

let last night be a lesson, always scout out the “Information Superhighway” (until The Left grabs totalitarian, utopian control)

  14. nations with laws and practices contrary to the olympic spirit and western values shouldn’t be invited to attend or compete.

  15. #18
South Africa got that treatment during apartheid days. but such high idealism doesn’t apply to Mugabe’s Zimbabwe Zombieland today
    (remember when it was Rhodesia?)

btw, what should be done with nations whose athletes refuse to participate with Israel? should they receive the same treatment as that female Greek athlete? after all, we love Equality, right?

  16. And you all though the last three years were, ah, “surreal.”

This year will make the last three seem like the Dream-time, like Eden.

    Good God.

Franz Kafka, Salvador Dali, Marcelle Duchamp, and George Orwell, put together in a room to write and illustrate a possible future, would all have abandoned their arts if shown what we have seen in the last two months.

They’d all be saying, “No, we can’t top that. F**k it. I’m gonna go be a carpenter.”
