Ouch!… Mitt Romney Slams Obama’s Attack on Business Owners, Says “The Context is Worse Than the Quote” (Video)

Governor Mitt Romney joined Larry Kudlow tonight on the Kudlow Report to discuss the context of President Obama’s ‘build that’ statement.
Mitt slammed Obama’s record of scolding business owners and punishing success.

From the Mitt Romney website:

LARRY KUDLOW: “Why do you think President Obama, what did he mean, if you’ve got a business, you didn’t build it, someone else made that happen? He claims it’s being taken out of context. What do you think it means? Do you think this is Obama anti-business, anti-entrepreneur? Or do you think maybe he has been treated unfairly?”

GOV. ROMNEY: “Well, just read the whole speech. I found the speech even more disconcerting than just that particular line. The context is worse than the quote. The context, he says, you know, you think you’ve been successful because you’re smart, but he says a lot of people are smart. You think you’ve been successful because you work hard, a lot of people work hard. This is an ideology which says hey, we’re all the same here, we ought to take from all and give to one another and that achievement, individual initiative and risk-taking and success are not to be rewarded as they have in the past. It’s a very strange and in some respects foreign to the American experience type of philosophy. We have always been a nation that has celebrated success of various kinds. The kid that gets the honor roll, the individual worker that gets a promotion, the person that gets a better job. And in fact, the person that builds a business. And by the way, if you have a business and you started it, you did build it. And you deserve credit for that. It was not built for you by government. And by the way, we pay for government. Government doesn’t come free. The people who begin enterprises, the people who work in enterprises, they’re the ones paying for government. So his whole philosophy is an upside-down philosophy that does not comport with the American experience. And if we want to get people working again–and that’s my priority–if we want to get people working again, we have to celebrate success and achievement and not demonize it and denigrate the people who have worked hard, who are smart, who have made the kinds of investments to build a brighter future.”

This may shock Obama but 72% of Americans believe entrepreneurs who start businesses do more to create jobs and economic growth than big businesses or government.

Obama acts as if we are lucky to know him.
In my experience govt. exists to regulate and prohibit businesses.
It is very expensive to protect yourself from local state and federal govt.
They are not your friend.
It is an adversarial relationship.

Good shot. I would have liked to hear 2 more points on this:

1) RISK, Small business owners risk a lot and MOST of them fail. They took out loans or put their savings into the buiness, and MOST of them fail. They get credit for that.

2) FAILURES ARE NOT SEEN, for all the success stories are those that are not here because they failed. Many of them failed BECAUSE of heavy governemnt taxation or regulation. In the end, here we have Obama running up saying, “I helped! I helped!”

Please, ask any small business owner what they think of government help.

And NO, Obama was not talking about roads and bridges.

I’ve been reading up on the differences between Socialism and Communism, and frankly I don’t think Obama fits perfectly in either category. “Collectivism” is probably a more accurate term for his ideology. They are all related schools of thought, with some basic differences. The fact that we know so little about him doesn’t help.

Below is the list of Communist goals contained in The Naked Communist, a book written in 1958 by Cleon Skousen. This should help you decide if he has a communist agenda:

U.S. acceptance of coexistence as the only alternative to atomic war.
U.S. willingness to capitulate in preference to engaging in atomic war.
Develop the illusion that total disarmament by the United States would be a demonstration of moral strength.
Permit free trade between all nations regardless of Communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war.
Extension of long-term loans to Russia and Soviet satellites.
Provide American aid to all nations regardless of Communist domination.
Grant recognition of Red China. Admission of Red China to the U.N.
Set up East and West Germany as separate states in spite of Khrushchev’s promise in 1955 to settle the German question by free elections under supervision of the U.N.
Prolong the conferences to ban atomic tests because the United States has agreed to suspend tests as long as negotiations are in progress.
Allow all Soviet satellites individual representation in the U.N.
Promote the U.N. as the only hope for mankind. If its charter is rewritten, demand that it be set up as a one-world government with its own independent armed forces.
Resist any attempt to outlaw the Communist Party.
Do away with all loyalty oaths.
Continue giving Russia access to the U.S. Patent Office.
Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States.
Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions by claiming their activities violate civil rights.
Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers’ associations. Put the party line in textbooks.
Gain control of all student newspapers.
Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations which are under Communist attack.
Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policymaking positions.
Gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures.
Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all forms of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to “eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings, substitute shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms.”
Control art critics and directors of art museums.
Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them “censorship” and a violation of free speech and free press.
Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.
Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as “normal, natural, healthy.”
Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with “social” religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity which does not need a “religious crutch.”
Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of “separation of church and state.”
Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.
Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the “common man.”
Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of the “big picture.” Give more emphasis to Russian history since the Communists took over.
Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture—education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc.
Eliminate all laws or procedures which interfere with the operation of the Communist apparatus.
Eliminate the House Committee on Un-American Activities.
Discredit and eventually dismantle the FBI.
Infiltrate and gain control of more unions.
Infiltrate and gain control of big business.
Transfer some of the powers of arrest from the police to social agencies. Treat all behavioral problems as psychiatric disorders which no one but psychiatrists can understand or treat.
Dominate the psychiatric profession and use mental health laws as a means of gaining coercive control over those who oppose Communist goals.
Discredit the family as an institution. Encourage promiscuity, masturbation and easy divorce.
Emphasize the need to raise children away from the negative influence of parents. Attribute prejudices, mental blocks and retarding of children to suppressive influence of parents.
Create the impression that violence and insurrection are legitimate aspects of the American tradition; that students and special-interest groups should rise up and use “united force” to solve economic, political or social problems.
Overthrow all colonial governments before native populations are ready for self-government.
Internationalize the Panama Canal.
Repeal the Connally reservation so the United States cannot prevent the World Court from seizing jurisdiction over domestic problems. Give the World Court jurisdiction over nations and individuals alike.

Obama is trying to advance an idea that justifies, even requires, raising taxes on businesses. It is also part of one of his apparent philosophies, which is that of the group over the individual.

We see this idea in communism and socialism. In Obama’s case, we see this in his background of associations with certain socialist and Marxists. Strangely enough, we also see this idea in his religious association with Wright. Black Liberation Theology also emphasizes the group; in fact, salvation occurs within the context of the group and not individually with an individual’s eternal salvation.

Salvation is only obtained when conditions have been made sufficient for the group to advance its cause, which is also a utopian idea. The desire to create utopia has animated tyrannies throughout history, as the goal is seen as superior to the methods required to achieve that goal. It also happens to be the case that Islam is a utopian philosophy that strives for paradise not in the afterlife but here on earth, and justifies extreme and totalitarian methods to achieve these results.

Obama has a double dose of religious group fervor, combining his moslem upbringing with the teachings of his spiritual mentor Wright.

So Obama has a very strong foundation, both politically and religiously and socially, that does not emphasize support of the individual, but instead places supremacy on the concept of the group. This is a value that is foreign to the core of America, and thus Obama is foreign to the core of America.

Bingo, Mitt…but Obama’s actually more sinister in why he’s saying such tripe. He wants to erode the value of private enterprise. He wants a culture clash of denigrating private enterprise in order to create the proletariat of the masses, and virtually enslave the owners of businesses to do the bidding of government and his types of cronies. He’ll say he’s doing it for the masses, but they’re merely to be the dupes to politically force businesses into being harnessed via taxation and regulation into being the “work mules” of his social programs. In Obama’s eyes, government isn’t there to serve the needs of creating a stable economic and business environment, but rather, business is there to merely feed his government machine.

Obama actually believed the word “stimulus.” The belief that the sole reason some people don’t do anything is because they don’t have any money. It’s usually the other way around, they don’t have any money because they don’t do anything. Well, that and being a product of the public school system.

He’s a big picture kind of guy (doesn’t sweat the details, except where he’s concerned) who dreams of absolute power, but he’s flawed by his lack of intelligence and abundant disdain for this country.

You know, between the Aurora aftermath speech (which really was just fantastic if you havent heard it all) the meeting with certain foreign people Obama has not as well as one who denied Obummer previously, and this moment right here, well Romney is really winning me over the last couple days.

I’ve had my reservations before, but I’m beginning to see less and less McCain with more and more Reagan in its place.

Getting rid of Obama and his disastrous ways was always the cake – now it looks like there is a possibility I may get to eat it too!

I agree obama is foreign to the core of America. But if you want to figure out what he is, you have to start with racist first. He knows the only way to stop white capitalism, or in other words, the American way, is by government domination. All the money he spent his 1st term was for his voting base or for massive expansion of government. In a 2nd term you will really see what he is all about, the debate will be over. As far as his speech goes, Romney is spot on regarding context. obama is amazing. He says we all know what he meant and this is all silly. Yeah we know exactly what you meant and it’s on tape so we can hear your arrogant cocky tone. You went off script and we heard the real obama. Romney you are running against a child.
