The official Hizbullah website Moqawama, along with the Iranian weekly Panjereh, published an infographic titled “Hormoz [sic] Straits– A Choke Point In the Hand of the IRGC [Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps]

The graphic, by the Iranian regime proxy group in Lebanon, depicts a potential attack on a US Carrier group in the Straight of Hormuz.
MEMRI reported, via Right Side News:

The infographic simulates an attack on a U.S. aircraft carrier in the Strait of Hormuz using IRGC missiles, including the Nasr (3 ton cruise missile with anti-ship capabilities), Zafar (short range radar guided missile fired from swift watercraft), Khalij-e Fars (solid fuel ballistic missile with a range of 300 km), Saeqhe (a missile with a range of 300 km), Tondar (a ballistic missile fired from land), Qader (a cruise missile with a range of 200 km, designed for aircraft and watercraft), Noor (A surface-to-sea or sea-to-sea missile with a range of 170 km), and Kowsar (a surface-to-sea, sea-to-sea, and air-to-sea medium range, radar and TV guided missile).

The publication of the infographic by Tehran’s proxy, Hizbullah, indicates that the former, which is currently facing harsh sanctions, is attempting to convey threats to the international community through all available channels.

  1. It’s all just a one shot deal for Iran, They won’t get a second try, (ask japan how that worked out for them) But also we have upgraded our ship board defenses, I don’t think they will do has much damage as they expect. Then they lose everything!

  2. So Iran has a their NYT, too, it seems?

“Here’s our top-secret plan!” — NYT and a few Iranian news outlets.

  3. I’m not a military expert, Gwillie, but many times sheer numbers will overwhelm the most sophisticated defense. If I remember correctly, there are several hundred Chinese-made Silkworm missles in very close proximity to the 5th Fleet. The Fleet has very little room to maneuver, and I think most of it will be lost unless we launch a huge preemptive strike. The Iranians will have numbers in their favor as well, with small speedboats all over the place. It is likely to be a confused battlefield. One hopes we have enough submarines in the area to do massive damage.

Pentagon Bulks Up Defenses in the Gulf

A U.S. military facility in 2008 in the Negev desert in Israel that deploys an X-Band radar system. The Pentagon is building a new radar station in Qatar for an X-Band as part of a buildup to counter Iran.

The Pentagon is building a missile-defense radar station at a secret site in Qatar and organizing its biggest-ever minesweeping exercises in the Persian Gulf, as preparations accelerate for a possible flare-up with Iran, according to U.S. officials.

The radar site will complete the backbone of a system designed to defend U.S. interests and allies such as Israel and European nations against Iranian rockets, officials told The Wall Street Journal. The minesweeping exercises, in September, will be the first such multilateral drills in the region, and are expected to be announced by U.S. officials Tuesday.

The Pentagon’s moves reflect concern that tensions with Iran could intensify as the full weight of sanctions targeting the country’s oil exports takes hold this summer. Though U.S. officials described both the radar site and the naval exercises as defensive in nature, the deployments likely will be seen by Iran as provocations.[...]

  5. Why in God’s name put the ship thru the straights? Sitting around 100 miles off shore is enough and the Aegis class escort’s would not be sitting idle. It’s called power “projection” for a reason. There are plenty of aircraft on board to do land strikes and there would be more than a little help from land based aircraft also. The worst case scenario would be one of the mine sweeping ships would be hit to try to provoke a retaliatory strike, but the response is nothing that the Iranians could handle (unless Obummer takes the helm). The only thing to really watch out for are the diesel electrics that they have.

  6. Why in God’s name put the ship thru the straights?

A similar question would be “Why in God’s name put a couple of dozen of our very best and most secretive spec-ops troops on a helicopter which is the equivalent of a flying UPS truck?”

Yes indeed. Why? I believe anyone with two synapses can now answer the second question. (Google “Execution of Seal Team Six”)

Which should lead anyone else with two synapses to the answer to the first question.

  7. Let’s move our very best equipment and troops as close as possible to every offensive measure at the enemy’s disposal! Yeah, that’s the ticket! When we could wipe their every military capability off the map from FAR OUTSIDE THE RANGE OF ANY of their offensive capabilities!

Calling Mr. Occam. Occam, there is a call for you on the white courtesy phone.

  8. Someone should come up with a graphic depicting a nuke coming down on Tehran.

  9. I hate to explain the punchline to a “joke”, but here goes:

“Why in God’s name put a couple of dozen of our very best and most secretive spec-ops troops on a helicopter which is the equivalent of a flying UPS truck?”

This question has never been asked by any investigative body, nor answered by anyone who could do so.

The RESULT of the decision IS THE ANSWER to the question. TO KILL THEM. The less VERY highly-trained VERY INTELLIGENT and VERY DRIVEN and VERY PATRIOTIC special operations troops that exist, the better for our current regime.

  10. Raise your hand if you know what the f&ck I am talking about.

    Anyone? Bueller?

  11. Arrgh!

Wake up, America. Your best soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Constitutional defenders are being intentionally KEPT AWAY from America (from what’s to come, Mao-Style) — or outright murdered en masse.

  12. Hate to link here, but at least this Art-Bell-Style crew archived it:

  13. Aww. Look at all the toys they have. They have that aircraft carrier completely surrounded. What will the American military ever do now?

Now when it comes to turning a crisis into an opportunity, the US military wrote the book.

    They got it covered.

(Thank you. I know you have it covered and I like to tout your strength and dominance. But I know you give your lives everyday and it’s a shame the news media seems to have forgotten. God Bless the men and women of the US armed forces).

Rock The Casbah if you have to:

    Now over at the temple
Oh, they really pack ‘em in
The in crowd say it’s cool
    To dig this chanting thing
But as the wind changed direction
Then the temple band took five
    The crowd caught a whiff
    Of that crazy Casbah jive

    The Sharif don’t like it.

    He really, really hates it.

  14. August 6, 2011: A Chinook helo is shot down in Tangi, Wardak Province, Afghanistan. Within hours, before family notifications could possibly have been completed, global press accounts positively confirm that 22 of the 30 Americans killed were not just SEALS, but members of SEAL Team 6. Again, DEVGRU operations have been, up until now, highly classified. Today, the Obama regime made a point of immediately revealing the unit identities of the SPECOPS forces among the dead.

We’re not in Kansas anymore, Toto.

  15. Time to fck up their plans.

  16. #17 Frank Martin

It would sure be nice if we had a CinC with your comment’s ideas, and not with mine.

We don’t live in that world. Unless some Commander of some U.S.S. (Insert State Here) SSBN decides to take matters into his own hands, of course.

Barring that hope… our CinC, given that he all his rowdy friends actively and vocally hate our nation and its military more than anything else, is unlikely to pursue that option.

I hope we have some leaders in our great military who understand that Obama is not our Constitution — but that hope is very slim, given that promotions in our military since Bill Clinton have been based on politics (Communist, Islam get promoted over American Patriot and Lover of Good…).

That hope is slim…. for one JUST ONE SSBN Captain to do what is right.

  17. Oh Noes! How could we withstand Carrier-sized missiles sent from all directions?
