Maine Governor Paul LePage accused the Obama Administration of organizing an army of “new Gestapo” agents to enforce the ObamaTax law.

Maine Governor Paul LePage called Obamacare’s army of IRS agents the “new Gestapo” today in his weekly radio address.
The Portland Press Herald reported, via Conservative Nation News

Gov. Paul LePage used his weekly radio address to blast President Obama’s health care law and described the Internal Revenue Service as the “new Gestapo.”

The IRS description was a reference to a provision in the Affordable Care Act that requires most Americans to buy health insurance or pay an annual penalty when filing their tax returns. The provision, known more broadly as the individual mandate, was the subject of a multi-state lawsuit, but was recently upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court.

LePage said the court decision has “made America less free.”

“We the people have been told there is no choice,”
he said. “You must buy health insurance or pay the new Gestapo – the I.R.S.”

The debate over the mandate has become a political flash point since the health law was enacted. Republicans maintain that the requirement is an unfair tax. Democrats say the mandate was originally a Republican idea borne from the conservative Heritage Foundation, which introduced the measure in 1989 as counterpoint to calls for a single-payer health care system.

The Gestapo were Nazi Germany’s official secret police under Adolph Hitler, who imprisoned and murdered thousands of people without cause.

LePage also addressed another element of the health-care law that was immediately thrust into the public debate: Medicaid expansion. Originally the Affordable Care Act required states to increase eligibility for low-income residents or pay a penalty. The court decision struck down the penalty, however, the federal government is still offering to pay for the expansion.

The federal government will fund 100 percent of the expansion from 2014 to 2016, gradually declining to 90 percent after that.

The Obama administration is building up the IRS by another 16,500 agents to enforce Obamacare.

  1. gutsy but gets crucified up here (I’m from Maine) for not being politically correct.

  2. This is all in the ‘hands’ of the individual States now…
the Governors, the Sheriffs, & the 10th amendment.

  3. “The court decision struck down the penalty, however, the federal government is still offering to pay for the expansion.

Don’t you love how they spin it as some kind of separately beneficent federal government paying for it all, why it’s practically free, except in reality… Actually it just adds another enormously expensive layer of government bureaucracy to the real costs, reducing personal and other choices and alternatives, in addition to the left-wing police state attributes now nipping at our heels everyday by first eroding our wallets. Every dollar the Democrat’s police state steals from us is money which can’t go to our families, or to the charitable causes we personally value most.

  4. As the wheels start to come off Obamatax, and the issue of freedom is now at the forefront of the campaign (although dumbass Romney still can’t grasp it), and Obamatax is NOT a liberal rallying point, the governors are starting their rebellion.

Welcome to the new civil war, fought this time in courts- hopefully. Scott in Florida says no way, Jindal the same, I think about thirty now.

As the horror that is Obamatax bleeds into the minds of the people, something that would not happen if the SP went the other way, the people will simply reject it and anybody who supports it.

Watch and see how many democrats in the House change sides as a way to see how effective our votes can be.

  5. Here’s a joke to lighten the mood.

What’s the difference between Chief Justice John Roberts and Benedict Arnold?

One’s a traitorous, back-stabbing, feckless coward who weakened the republic and the other’s a general.

Thank you, I’ll be here all week.

  6. I have a f(r)iend whose mother grew up in Germany in the 20s-40s. She lived through WW-II before coming over. Now she’s talking about going back, because she recognizes the politics, and does not want to go through it again.

    She calls Zerobama Schwartzenührer.

  7. If “The Power To Tax Is The Power To Destroy”, then the IRS is indeed the new Gestapo. They are the enforcers of Liberal policy.

  8. The McCain/Palin picture hanging on the wall is a nice touch.

  9. Just received this one in an email. pass it on if you agree…….

How do you tell a Romney supporter from an Obama Supporter?

Romney supporters sign their checks on the front; Obama supporters sign their checks on the back!

  10. As recently as June 27th, the Government Accountability Office was reporting that the number of new IRS employees would be around 4,500.

Now that the Supremes have endorsed Obamacare, they don’t need to be so conservative with their numbers. Now, it’s 16,500 new employees looking through your underwear drawer. On top of the 110,000 employees they reported in 2010 (most recent numbers I could find). You do the math yourself, and figure average payroll and fringes cost for each employee at $120,000 per person.

They’ll be spending $330 Billion to “upgrade their systems” to accomodate the law that Obama promised would not replace private insurance. That’s almost the total “savings” from “streamlining” Medicare.

Man, this just keeps getting better and better. Last week, it was announced that there are already 13,000 pages of new federal regulations, and they’re just getting warmed up.

I wonder how much federal money has ACTUALLY already been spent ramping up for this monstrosity and how much more money we can afford to “save” before our economy collapses.

  12. I do not have the link but is this why the IRS bought all of those guns a year or so back?

  13. “Democrats say the mandate was originally a Republican idea borne from the conservative Heritage Foundation, which introduced the measure in 1989 as counterpoint to calls for a single-payer health care system.”

The Republicans don’t pass it; they rejected it. Now the Dems are running scared about what they have done. They are turning every which way to avoid taking responsibility for their abortion. Taking responsibility is literally the last thing any proper Dem would ever do. Why heck, you can’t take responsibility and still claim that you are a victim! What to do? Blame it on the Republicans. Yeah, that’s it; the Republican made them do it. Well, there is one other thing Dems do all the time: lie, lie and lie some more. They may be trying to block out 2009 and 2010 when they were trying every imaginable corrupt way to cram ObamaCare down our throats, but the rest of us remember those times, vividly.

  14. Correction:

    The Republicans didn’t pass it

  15. Obama speech, July 2, 2008 (Colorado Springs, CO):

“…a national civilian police force that is just as big, just as powerful and just as well funded as the military…”

    He told us.

Who’s that kicking in your door?

  16. FWIW factcheck.org and politfact say this claim of thousands of new IRS agents is completely false.

I know, I know — can’t believe anything they say; I’m just saying that claims like this are going to get pounced on by the LSM and the lefties. They live for this stuff so they can paint us all as a bunch of right wing wingnuts.

  17. How could it possibly require thousands of IRS agents to enforce Obamacare? From everything I’ve read, it’s pretty simple … if you don’t have health insurance, you pay a tax/penalty. Seems to me, it’s just another line on your tax return. Not a line that I think should be there mind you, but just a line. How it could require thousands more agents to enforce something like that is beyond me. I smell a rat …
