Danny Boyle tweets ‘Proud to be British’
UPDATE: Not everyone was impressed with the production tonight.
Aidan Burley, a lawmaker from Prime Minister David Cameron’s ruling Conservative party, tweeted:
The most leftie opening ceremony I have ever seen – more than Beijing, the capital of a communist state! Welfare tribute next?
The lefty kooks are at it on twitter with their #RomneyShambles hash tag – they think this is going to throw the election for Obama. Yeah, it’s not like we have a bad economy or anything. I’m so tired of liberals!!!
Too many scandals, too much rigging etc… Holyfield, Roy Jones, the 72 Basketball team. I hope the USA team does well and all but sorry, I’m still bitter.
Playing the Exorcist theme while extolling the virtues of the British Healthcare System was priceless—- the highlight of an overall rather dismal and uninspired show.
Worst I have ever seen. Turned it off and I am usually a HUGE fan. A large high school with a field and a couple of cranes could have done the same or better. Just terrible, boring and mercilessly sloppy. Just UGH!!!
Cheesy hoopla to mask the sunset years of a great nation. The streets of London will be filled with barfing drunkards and lewd youth making more spectacles. Sad.
Until the NAZI’s and PLO sympathizers are removed from the IOC, there will be no televised Olympics in this household. Shame on all of them — They have a lot to regret.
Good luck to our USA athletes; I wish them the best.
Olympics: Opening ceremony grapples with weighty issues
A celebration of free healthcare, the trade union struggle, the battle for women’s rights and a fleeting lesbian kiss: the Olympics opening ceremony Friday did not shy away from weighty social issues. Unsurprisingly, the show devised by Oscar-winning British director Danny Boyle drew accusations from the British political right that it had strayed into “leftie” issues. Aidan Burley, a lawmaker from Prime Minister David Cameron’s ruling Conservative party, tweeted: “The most leftie opening ceremony I have ever seen — more than Beijing, the capital of a communist state! That “tribute” to the Industrial Age was just awful.

The tribute to their National Healthcare Service was even more awful.
They over did it on paying tribute to British music.
I did enjoy the James Bond/Queen moment, I wasn’t expecting that.
The fireworks was impressive.
I watched the opening ceremonies on BBC online, because NBC sucks.
Union Jackoff commented:
Lemme just say this.
Britain, just stick with coronations, weddings and funerals.
The rest of it is like your food,
Mad Hatter commented:
Also, I watched the opening ceremonies streaming live on BBC since NBC wanted people to pay for their streaming live coverage.
NBC didn’t show the opening ceremonies live on one of their networks, it was taped delayed.
If they’re going to show the games on a taped delayed basis, they’re going to have terrible rating. Couldn’t happen to a more bias network.

Is there even an opening ceremony if North American Networks do not show it on television or live stream it? Sort of like a tree falling in the woods with no one to hear it.
