Once a rising star, the Illinois Representative has not been seen in Congress since early June. Friends and colleagues say Jackson was being treated at a facility in Arizona for depression and drug addiction. Andrea Mitchell at MSNBC reported:

    I live in a nearby district. I sincerely hope Mr. Jackson is able to rest, recover and deal successfully with his demons.

    However, that will be a full-time process. That means, he should resign as a member of Congress. He can’t recover from addiction and also handle the pressures of the job.

    He should step aside. That would be the private and public consensus if he were Republican, and it should be the private and public consensus for a Democrat.

    ABC News also reported that Jackson “will likely not return to Congress until after Labor Day,” citing an unnamed source.

    But the Rev. Jesse Jackson Sr., in an interview with POLITICO, pushed back on an unconfirmed report that his 47-year-old son attempted suicide.

    The elder Jackson was responding to a “rumor” broadcast by an Illinois radio station Tuesday. WLS of Chicago cited “two high-ranking people on the Democratic side of the aisle, in both fundraising and in the legislative branch,” as the source of this information, none of which had been confirmed with Jackson’s office or family.

    Shedinger said the issue arose when a Muslim student challenged
    his teaching about Islam, and he rethought not only Islam, but all

    came to the conclusion that it was a social justice movement and

    Looks like The Skull U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez is biting at Shakedown Jr.’s Jackson Jr.’s heels.

    Perhaps Gutierrez is still smarting from Jackson Jr.’s suggestion last year that their state’s growing Hispanic population might require a second majority district. And both had considered running against former Mayor Richard Daley.

    Gutierrez is the only Hispanic Rep in the state, he’s very, very pro illegal alien rights. And he probably wants to stay numero uno.

    This is how it starts. Then we find out some Anthony Weiner type behavior. By then he claims to have already paid the price by spending time at a five star resort, er, rehab clinic. So let the speculations begin. I suspect a gay relationship, caught with hard drugs or, that they have him on the whole buying Obama’s senate seat. Possibly real hard evidence that leaves no doubt. But Illinois, the California of the midwest will happily not press charges and the voters will send him back to congress for the rest of his life.
