    1. I don’t see anything in this announcement that says that President Obama will be attending any fundraiser in foreign venues. If George Clooney and these other fat cats are hoping he will scratch their backs in return, what’s the big deal? That’s just American politics as usual, isn’t it? … Friends supporting friends. …… 2. Raising campaign funds in foreign climes is NOT illegal, as long as the money is given by American citizens. I will not be in attendance to make sure of this, but I believe that all contributors will be required to sign a declaration that they are U. S. citizens, and that the contribution is their own money, and I expect that these records will be available to the Federal Election Commission. It is illegal to obtain campaign funds from foreigners including citizens and entities controlled by the citizens or governments of foreign countries, but it is not illegal to accept contributions from Americans residing (or, just traveling) abroad. Exactly how this law would be enforced, is not clear, but, no doubt we can rely upon the campaign staff to “dot all the i’s and cross all the t’s.” I am sure David Axelrod knows what he is doing, and the media watchdogs are ever alert for any campaign transgression. After all, Americans know: If Brian and Diane and Scott don’t say it’s a bad thing, then it can’t be a really bad thing, can it? Also, remember Vice President Al Gore’s guideline in the 1996 campaign, “My lawyers have advised me that there is no controlling legal authority …”
