Bill O’Reilly respectfully touched on the controversy over the parents bringing children and babies to a movie theater at midnight to watch a Batman movie. One six year-old girl was murdered at the Aurora theater by madman James Holmes. A three month-old baby was also at the theater with his father. The baby was released today.
“They didn’t want to pay $15 for a babysitter.”

So when did this start anyway? When did it become “normal” to bring babies and small children to violent midnight movies?

  1. I didn’t listen to the clip but do agree this venue is no place for children. There is no way I would let any child of mine view this film. Young children need to be at home, tucked into their beds at midnight. Not out in theaters with adults watching a very violent movie.

  2. The unspoken:

This is God’s Judgement on his people in this nation.

How DARE this man insinuate this!

Ezekiel faced similar charges by the people of his time who said “how dare you?”

God was right. The people were wrong. And all Ezekiel said came to pass.

    What a crazy, loony mofo.

How can a nation of evil not be judged by a just God, and punished as that God sees fit?

The whole of the Bible is proof enough for most. The rest of History since is ample proof for most of the rest. Only the incredibly obstinate will fail to see.

This guy was probably an atheist, typical of the OWS types, and even more typical of mass murderers, like the Columbine Christian-killing God-haters were.

But God has always used the Godless to correct His people, and to bring even more to him as a result. Saul was brought upon God’s people by God — even though Saul was a practitioner of evil. Whenever God’s people (see Chronicles) strayed from him, and went back to worshipping the Idols, God appointed them a wicked, terrible ruler.

The rest of history has proven this 20x over. God GIVES MEN OVER TO THEIR WICKEDNESS.

And he gives us over to wicked, godless rulers, and wicked, godless killers.

This guy wasn’t Doing God’s Will — he was doing his own, fed by that of his Master in Hell — and, for some reason — GOD ALLOWED IT.

Why? O’Reilly has a hint here. The Bible, and all of human history, has countless iterations of the SAME EXACT HINT. From the Garden of Eden ONWARD.

  3. he said what we were all thinking.. wtf was a baby and a 6 YO doing in a midnight movie.

  4. I thought Bill’s handling of this story was reasonable. I took a 6-year old to a hockey game, once, and he fell asleep in Blackhawks’ stadium. Young parents are going to take their kids out late, at least once in a while.

  5. I am very sorry for the lost of all those people and certainly the young children. But,what is it they say about lack of common sense in the modern world. The same might be said about the young girl shot on her front porch at 10:45 at night shortly before the family vacation to Disney World. Silly me for thinking children should be tucked into bed long before those times. I cannot imagine the guilt the parents will feel for the rest of their lives.

  6. This is most upsetting. I am so happy the baby is doing fine. But the six year is dead.

I wish parents wouldn’t allow their children into a PG -13 film. I wish that if the movie companies when getting their ratings would be diligent and have the Theaters comply and not allow these little ones in at all.

We live in a nation where it is easy and readily available for disturbed people to get powerful ammunition and on the internet. Our children watch some violent videos and the parents are just not doing their jobs.

We live in a nation free to own guns and freedom of speech but parents aren’t doing their jobs properly and I do believe in this case the parents of this shooter could have offered something to the police, especially the mother. It seems a mother’s instinct when it comes to her child is 99.9% of the time correct.

And for your son to have collect all the ammunition and his arsenal of weaponry up to a third floor apartment with no one seeing a thing for me is insanity.

Now, Bloomberg is wanting Control and he has to be out in the limelight again. I disagree and I can only pray that this never happens because these incidents are few and far between. We have great laws, people break them.

And yes, parents should have gotten a sitter for child. And for the police, yes, I realize they work on weekends at theaters but this was a BIG opening and at midnight and sadly I have to blame someone for not have police security. And at every theater there should be scanners front and back, entrances and exits.

  7. We have both President Obama’s & Mitt Romney’s reaction to the midnight killings at the Colorado Movie Theater…

stupid to bring the subject of babysitters..

  9. You know, with me, it’s not only the lateness of the hour, but the decision by the parents to expose a 6-year-old to this film. What ever were they thinking?

  11. Why were parents taking their young children to a midnight movie? That was one of my first thought on hearing that there were babies and children there. I guess I’m old fashioned and think that young children should be in bed well before midnight. As I recall when my kids were young I couldn’t even stay up for a midnight showing. What a tragedy, prayers for all those involved.

  12. Local Theaters Step Up Security In Response To Colorado Theater Massacre

Many are still searching for answers Friday night following a devastating and deadly shooting at an Aurora, Colorado movie theater during a midnight showing of “The Dark Knight Rises.”

Officials are holding a press briefing right now to provide updates on what is being called the “Colorado Movie Massacre.”

Earlier, New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said the gunman suspected of attacking the crowd resembled Batman’s arch-villain “The Joker.”

“It clearly looks like a deranged individual. He had his hair painted red, he said he was ‘The Joker,’ obviously the ‘enemy’ of Batman,” Kelly said about the suspect, 24-year-old James Holmes, at a news conference Friday.

A source also told the Associated Press the suspect is not cooperating and has asked for a lawyer.

It takes the deaths of 12 or 14 still not sure and 70 injured for some to wake up. Our society is changing. Yes, there are wonderful Americans, they are the majority but we must begin to come to the realization there are some incompetents too. Violent ones.

  13. Having an alarm on the exit doors would help. Push it open and a loud siren goes off. From what I have read, the shooter purchased a ticket, entered the theater and when the movie started propped open one of the doors, exited, geared up and returned.

    stop blaming the victims..

it could have happened anywhere at any time..

the kids could have been “safe at home” home with a babysitter,
where any number of things have occured a thousand and one
times more often than getting gunned down at a theater.. :-(
