A Tale of Two Charts: Bush Tax Cuts Created Jobs – Unlike Obama’s Spend Your Way to Hell Plan

A Tale of Two Charts–
The Bush tax cuts created jobs.

The Bush tax cuts in 2003 created 8.1 million jobs. (Investors)

Investor’s reported:

From June 2003 to December 2007, the economy added 8.1 million jobs, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The unemployment rate fell to 5% from 6.3%. Real GDP growth averaged close to 3% in the four-plus years after that, and the budget deficit fell steadily from 2004 to 2007.

And despite Obama’s claim, Bush’s policies did not increase income inequality. In fact, inequality was the same when Bush left office as when he came in.

Unfortunately for America, Barack Obama’s ‘Spend your way to hell’ plan did not have similar results.

Since the trillion dollar Obama-Pelosi stimulus was passed the labor force participation rate has dropped to a 29 year low. (RSC)

Since Obama took office the labor force has shrunk from 66% to 63% as almost 5 million American adults stopped looking for work.
The Republican Study Committee reported:

Democrats said their costly plan ($1.2 trillion, including interest) would “save or create” up to 4 million jobs and bring the unemployment rate down to about 6% today. The unemployment rate has not fallen below 8% at any point in the last 36 months. Furthermore, the official unemployment rate does not actually count unemployed people who have given up looking for work.

The above chart shows the “labor force participation rate.” This statistic represents the share of working-age Americans who are either employed or unemployed but looking for work. It is not a pretty picture. Only 63.7% of working-age Americans are currently in the workforce – the lowest in almost 29 years!

Here’s another way to look at it…

(Zero Hedge)

Remember this the next time you hear Obama spout off about how Bush did not create jobs.

Liars…. Those charts are facts that dont show anything…

    Bush’s fault

  • bigkahuna

    I forgot… you are Racists !

  • Ann In L.A.

When I look at those charts, I like to look at the point during the summer of 2008 when the polls permanently shifted towards Obama, when it was clear McCain wasn’t going to run any kind of winning campaign, and that Obama would be the next president. By about mid-August, the election was pretty much over and done with.

Now, pull up a chart of employment and see the level line of a no-growth employment situation start dropping off the cliff right around mid-August 2008.

In other words, as soon as the writing on the wall came into focus, employers headed for the hills.

  • Carole Ray

@bigkahana….and you have absolutely nothing intelligent to say…racist, really? based on what….obeyme’s failure? the dumpocraps failure and determined efforts to bankrupt American once they got a hold of Congress in 2006?? I couldn’t care less if obeyme was a little green man from Mars, he’s incompetent, surrounded himself with incompetent academic eggheads, it looks good on paper therefore it must work…AND he’s a flaming marxist, muslim!!!

  • SoWhat

Oh boo hoo, since you are probably very racist yourself. Bomb-out boy couldn’t get anything right in D. C. Obummer needs to go with all his little robot followers so this country can get back on track to prosperity.

Turning America into one big Detroit.

They destroy everything they get control of. The arrogance doesn’t compensate for the stupidity.

  • bigkahuna

Sorry I should have added sarcasm note…. Those are the things libs will say… Its Bush’s fault and its racist to blame Obama…

Obama is a disaster but also if people remeber and take note it was in 2006 when Libs took over control of congress and larger and lager deficits and idiotic regulations began.

Add this to the disaster that was the community reinvestment act that forced banks to lower loan standards for minorities and poor people to be able to buy a home and Freddie and Fannie buying up most of these loser loans….and you get a complete and total collapse laid on the libs doorstep

  • Sasja

Bammy knows jobs were created. He doesn’t care. Creating jobs is not on his agenda. Punishing and destroying America is. I’ll bet he thinks he’s pretty much right on tract in those regards.

Huma Abedin Under Federal Guard After Michele Bachmann’s Muslim Brotherhood Charges, Threats

Police and federal officials have placed security around ex-Rep. Anthony Weiner’s wife, Huma Abedin, after a New Jersey man threatened her, law-enforcement sources said.

An individual, described as a Muslim man, made the unspecified threat after Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) last week claimed Abedin’s family had ties to the Muslim Brotherhood and asked for a probe to see if she is helping the Islamist organization.

The man was questioned by the NYPD and the State Department and has not been charged, sources said.

Bigkahuna…………I got it immediately but #4 probably has not read you before.

#4 Good point about 2006. I keep wanting a flashing arrow over that date that says Pelosi/Reid. Of course, I have never bought (even from the right) that this is Bush’s fault.

OT but have you wondered about this:

Crovitz: Who Really Invented the Internet?

As for the government’s role, the Internet was fully privatized in 1995, when a remaining piece of the network run by the National Science Foundation was closed—just as the commercial Web began to boom. Economist Tyler Cowen wrote in 2005: “The Internet, in fact, reaffirms the basic free market critique of large government. Here for 30 years the government had an immensely useful protocol for transferring information, TCP/IP, but it languished. . . . In less than a decade, private concerns have taken that protocol and created one of the most important technological revolutions of the millennia.”

It’s important to understand the history of the Internet because it’s too often wrongly cited to justify big government. It’s also important to recognize that building great technology businesses requires both innovation and the skills to bring innovations to market. As the contrast between Xerox and Apple shows, few business leaders succeed in this challenge. Those who do—not the government—deserve the credit for making it happen.

Hope & Change™ update: Poverty expected to reach levels not seen since mid-1960′s

Poverty is spreading at record levels across many groups, from underemployed workers and suburban families to the poorest poor. More discouraged workers are giving up on the job market, leaving them vulnerable as unemployment aid begins to run out. Suburbs are seeing increases in poverty, including in such political battlegrounds as Colorado, Florida and Nevada, where voters are coping with a new norm of living hand to mouth.

    Character, Not Skin Color Matters

[The unvarnished Obama on display of late confirmed the suspicions of Conservatives, tasered many Independents from hibernation, and chilled many sensible Democrats to the bone, for it was black – hearted hate speech without so much as a scintilla of tolerance or respect for the sacrifice and risk taking abilities of not just small businesses, but of business writ large. He stepped on the entities of commerce as if he were killing a spider, and once the lid on his Pandora’s Box of enmity opened he continued grinding his shoe over this symbolic image to officially declare war on free enterprise and creativity, and announce that in the next four years he fully intended to reward sloth, encourage dependency, penalize and tax success, with the ultimate intent of distributing the spoils on a selective basis like Big Daddy Cool. If this is the Mr. Nice Guy version he and his toadies are trying to sell for reelection, his encore will make the first four years seem like a toga party.]

Big Kahuna, you are an ignorant slothful cretin. I wonder about what kind of taste you must have in your mouth after chowing on all of that sweaty Obingobango junk. That chart was prepared by The Republican Study Committee, and that chart is THE TRUTH, not some sh*tty “scientific non-partisan” nonsense. Have fun in your liberal pee hole, you liar. Thanks to the failed policies and business-bashing actions of OBOZO and his dictatorial regime, the American economy is no longer on life support – it is stone cold dead. Rigor mortis has passed and the economy has now become just a decaying, stinking corpse. In spite of this, bailout bernanke, to justify his massive salary and humongous benefits, continues to provide mouth-to-mouth resuscitation to this rotting pile. All that is doing is creating asset and bond bubbles which help his Wall Street masters reap massive profits, but which also will inevitably collapse causing equally massive harm to the poor and middle class. Even with bailout bernanke’s desperate and potentially harmful actions, the labor force participation rate – the most significant measure of US employment – continues to decline and is now at nearly a 40 YEAR LOW, while “disability” claims and food stamp recipients are at an all time high.

If bailout bernanke and the feckless Fed really wanted to help the US economy (which they don’t – they just want BILLION DOLLAR profits for Big Banks and Wall Street), they would do what the rest of us must do: defeat OBOZO and elect Romney.

Obama ‘Didn’t Build That’: Hawaii Residents Were Forced to Build Their Own Road in 2009

Their livelihood was being threatened, and they were tired of waiting for government help, so business owners and residents on Hawaii’s Kauai island pulled together and completed a $4 million repair job to a state park — for free…

So Slack, other business owners and residents made the decision not to sit on their hands and wait for state money that many expected would never come. Instead, they pulled together machinery and manpower and hit the ground running March 23.

And after only eight days, all of the repairs were done, Pleas said. It was a shockingly quick fix to a problem that may have taken much longer if they waited for state money to funnel in.

“We can wait around for the state or federal government to make this move, or we can go out and do our part,” Slack said. “Just like everyone’s sitting around waiting for a stimulus check, we were waiting for this but decided we couldn’t wait anymore.”

A reminder that individuals are prior to the state, and the common good is often at odds with government.

Federal Government’s Debt Jumps More Than $1T for 5th Straight Fiscal Year

By the end of the third quarter of fiscal 2012, the new debt accumulated in this fiscal year by the federal government had already exceeded $1 trillion, making this fiscal year the fifth straight in which the federal government has increased its debt by more than a trillion dollars, according to official debt numbers published by the U.S. Treasury.

Prior to fiscal 2008, the federal government had never increased its debt by as much as $1 trillion in a single fiscal year. From fiscal 2008 onward, however, the federal government has increased its debt by at least $1 trillion each and every fiscal year.[…]

The government’s special inspector general in charge of oversight of the Troubled Asset Relief Program (the “TARP” bank bailouts) – Neil M. Barofsky – wrote a stunning editorial for Bloomberg yesterday, concluding:

Americans should lose faith in their government. They should deplore the captured politicians and regulators who distributed tax dollars to the banks without insisting that they be accountable. The American people should be revolted by a financial system that rewards failure and protects those who drove it to the point of collapse and will undoubtedly do so again.

Only with this appropriate and justified rage can we hope for the type of reform that will one day break our system free from the corrupting grasp of the megabanks.

There is no use even thinking you will get an intelligent comment from kool-aid drinking sheeples, They are so brainwashed, when they can not show any defense for Obama you are called racist! Get this I just saw a post about the murders in Colorado and can you believe it a person posted a photo of the murder and along side the photo about how the press down played how bad he was,,,because he was white! If anyone believes for one second that Obama is pushing race division. This is about destroying America..Obama is not a democrat..he i s a Marxist..he will not settle just being President..he wants to be a dictator! Americans better get with it real quick, this is not about just our country..this is about aa one world government! Fact!

I’ll admit that I am not perfect. Most would stay I tried!

But, the good new is I have 8,753,935 people on Disability. That takes them off the unemployment rolls… and puts them on my voting rolls. Ha-ha!

Five percent of America’s work force has now gone on the dole, either by retiring, living with relatives, or on welfare, since Obamee took office.

Should Obameecare kick in fully by 2014, that number will drop from 58% to 50% or less. Why should people work when you can get the government to pay for your health insurance as long as your family household income is low enough? Cheaper to not work and take the handout.

And as more and more people do this, we’ll have fewer and fewer workers paying taxes into the system and more and more looters and moochers taking it out.

Obamee wins? Make plans to move to another country. America won’t see another decade or two without a civil war.

Count on it. Get your family out.

Another factor: All the uncertainty regarding the tax rates. They were going to expire a couple of years ago, then the Dems begrudgingly agreed to extend the Bush-era tax cuts 2 years. Now, they’re set to automatically expire in January with the Dems calling for a 1-year extension. All this uncertainty is driving businesses and individuals to curb spending and stop hiring. Throw Obamacare and all its massive taxes into the mix, and you have a perfect storm that explains the staled economy. Businesses HATE uncertainty.

Question: Why are tax cuts always temporary, but tax increases always permanent? Seems it should be the other way around. They should consider a Constitutional Amendment that caps tax rates at 20% (The Monday Rule), and only allows Congress to raise taxes above that level for 1 year at a time, and only with a 60% majority. That would guarantee accountability for any elected officials choosing to vote for tax increases, and ensure taxes only go up in times of national crisis (i.e. a major war).

Ah, disingenuous charts. Nice. Put a label over the labor force participation that says “where are the jobs,” as though the labor force participation rate is in fact a count of the number of total jobs, which it’s totally not.

You can make a better case without the lies and manipulations, which only serve to dismiss your entire thesis as that of a hack.
