Too bad, so sad.
Poor Democrats will not have the opportunity to beat up on Bush at this year’s RNC convention. The president will not be attending the event this year.
USA Today reported:

Former president George W. Bush will not attend the GOP convention next month.

A spokesman for the 43rd president, who has largely stayed out of politics since leaving the White House, said he has declined an invitation to attend.

“President Bush was grateful for the invitation to the Republican National Convention,” said Bush communication director Freddy Ford. “He supports Gov. Romney and wants him to succeed. President Bush is confident that Mitt Romney will be a great president. But he’s still enjoying his time off the political stage and respectfully declined the invitation to go to Tampa.”

  1. That’s a shame, Bush was a great president. But can someone remind me what happened to the United States’ national debt during his administration? I forget.

  2. Some things are just more important than political conventions.

  3. Well said. Let the man enjoy his retirement.

  4. I don’t blame him, stay out of the H*ll hole of what is coming, after all, he will just be blamed for everything wrong anyway.

  5. Good decision. Those that love him, love him. Those that don’t, don’t. The torch has passed and his presence would be a distraction to that.

NBC’s Alexander to Romney Sons: ‘Are You Out of Touch?

In an interview with Mitt Romney’s five sons aired on Thursday’s NBC Rock Center, campaign correspondent Peter Alexander took a jab at the family’s wealth: “Their life of privilege, plus a reported $100 million trust fund, continues to draw harsh scrutiny….The criticism is that a family like yours, the Romneys, can’t really understand what the average American family is dealing with right now….are you out of touch?” [Listen to the audio or watch the video after the jump]

Earlier in the segment, Alexander explained the role of the sons: “For a candidate who at times has struggled to connect, the campaign hopes the sons can also help explain some of their father’s more idiosyncratic moments.” In a preview of the interview on Thursday’s Today, Alexander proclaimed: “For a candidate who’s been called aloof, even awkward, the Romney boys help highlight their father’s human side.”

  7. Well, I for one will miss my favorite president (Reagan second). I do not blame him for skipping the beating and the FALSE blame, be it coming from Dem or Repubs. That latter group makes me want to puke when I hear it.

God bless Mr President. Shame some forget facts, such as the that high price of gasoline and food. No? $1.80 not high? Dems had a stranglehold and the brave Repubs hid when ole Barney and Pelosi were romping. I think you did a wonderful job with herding those cats.

I can tell you. It rose — pretty severely.

About one EIGHTH of what is has risen in the last three years.

And all us conservatives complained about it like we do now. More than one eighth, at least.

So spare us the “Bush Did It Too! routine.”

We know. We also know that you who called him BushHitler for 8 years now call Obama the One, the Won, and the Savior… when everything you hated about Bush, Obama and the Democrats are OCTUPLING in severity, brazenness, opacity, and magnitude.

    EVERYTHING.

But we also know that you know Alinsky’s Rules. And we also know that you follow, whether you know it or not, the entity to which Alinsky dedicated his Rules for Radicals.

  9. Reagan: a Hollywood Liberal pretending to be a Conservative, pretending to “beat Communism”, and doing it so well that he should have received posthumous Oscars.

While doing nothing about Communism in our EVERY SINGLE INSTITUTION.

    What, I’m wrong?

Who is in the White House?

  10. Communism won, while conservatives gave each other fellatio for 30 years over how Reagan Beat Communism!!

    —-

Who is in the White House?

  11. Who owns every public school from K-PhD?

    Who owns every publishing house?

    Who owns every recording company?

    Who owns Hollywood?

    Who owns the stand-up-comedy circuit?

    Who owns television?
    —-

    Keep smokin’ Reagan’s pole.

  12. WHO GOT DUPED?

  13. Kennedy: my favorite recent president.

Who was killed for fighting against Communism.

Every president since has either said “ah, f**k it,” or “Rah, Rah, Sis Boom Bah!” regarding Communism AT HOME.

Reagan fought Communism. He said “ah, f**k it” regarding Communism at home.

McCarthy was 1/100th of the way to being right.

you on the sauce again?? :D

[Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, Chairman of the bipartisan Commission on Government Secrecy, responsible for securing the release of Venona project materials, in the Introduction to his book Secrecy states, "The Venona intercepts contained overwhelming proof of the activities of Soviet spy networks in America, complete with names, dates, places, and deeds." The release involved careful consideration of privacy interests of individuals mentioned, referenced, or identified in the translations. Some names have not been released when to do so would constitute an invasion of privacy. Over 200 named or covernamed persons found in the VENONA translations, persons then present in the U.S., are claimed by the KGB and the GRU in their messages as their clandestine assets or contacts.]

hmm, may be that’s how he managed to fight back against Islamists
more viciously than any other president, with the possible exception
    of Jefferson, before him..
