The Keystone Pipeline project was expected to create tens of thousands of high paying jobs in the oil industry. The project itself would create 20,000 construction jobs. And the pipeline would bring oil from Canada and North Dakota to refineries in the United States.
But it was just a big pipe dream.

With gas prices at record levels…
Barack Obama rejected the pipeline earlier this year.
TransCanada reapplied for presidential permit to build the Keystone pipeline this week.
Financial Post reported:
TransCanada Corp. on Friday reapplied to the U.S. State Department for a presidential permit to build the controversial Keystone XL oilsands pipeline, immediately triggering a new fight with opponents over the scope of a coming environmental impact study into the project.
In an interview with Postmedia News, TransCanada executive Alex Pourbaix said the Calgary-based company expects the Obama administration’s review of Keystone XL to be limited to the new rerouted portion of the pipeline through Nebraska.
“Certainly our expectation is that the only required new review would be on the actual reroute itself . . . What we are talking, in the scheme of things, (is) a relatively modest reroute,” said Pourbaix, president of TransCanada’s pipeline division.
“As we look at it, we don’t see anything material that was not reviewed in the original application, other than the specific reroute in Nebraska.”
TransCanada submitted its new application for a presidential permit just two weeks after it proposed several new routes for Keystone XL that avoid the ecologically fragile Sand Hills region of Nebraska.
President Barack Obama denied TransCanada’s original permit application in January.

Keystone offered these options for the Nebraska segment of the pipeline.

What happened to the Congress in treaties for this kind of thing? GWB never had total approval

I think there is a story to be told and it concerns craven appeasers…

Amazing the procrastination by Obama. The left and environmentalists should be running this nation. Ooppss! they are. Every time something great comes along the left groups come out and lobby or protest and then the Supreme Court gets involved.
When we try to create jobs, another hurdle, why is it so difficult when we need jobs to get back on our feet.
This is unbelievable in an economy that is struggling. Our progress and growth are stalled and have been for 3 1/2 years. Those in business know how to produce and grow our economy but when lawyers and professors are running this nation we stagnate.
Real leadership is lacking for the sake of Political left. More concerned about alienating their far left base.
We have been given a gift, instead of tapping our resources we have to rely on another country and one a hope, skip and a jump for us. So sad, yet not good enough for Obama.

OT-sort of.
Here is what I am talking about
FOOD LOBBY FLEXES MUSCLE IN CAMPAIGN 2012
The industry’s political spending has increased since the 2010 Citizens United Supreme Court decision, but its lobbying efforts have long carried a hefty price tag, and critics warn that the lobbying has influenced the highest levels of government.
Critics say that first lady Michelle Obama has made the administration vulnerable to the powerful food lobby in her push to address childhood obesity through the Let’s Move campaign.
Reuters reported a meeting in the White House with executives from companies including Kellogg, General Mills, and Nestle USA, Let’s Move backed off of its messaging against diet choices and began to emphasize exercise as a means to end childhood obesity.
Yale professor and director of the Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity, Kelly D. Brownell, believes that the first lady has found herself in a bit of a catch-22, becoming friendly with the food industry, while trying to advocate for healthier food.
“It does seem that there’s been a shift in priorities in the Let’s Move campaign in an election year,” Brownell said. “And with the Citizens United case and the companies being able to lobby almost without limit, it’s not surprising that the White House is more friendly toward the industry.”
Center for Science in the Public Interest director Margo Wootan reflected a similar sentiment, telling Reuters, “I’d focus more on exercise, too, if my husband was up for re-election.”

Well, the only thing I see is we are in a Political time. Elections are coming! Are we better off than we were 4 years ago. Slow and stagnate growth, I see a pattern and nothing is being accomplished, while people sit at home depressed and jobless.
I cannot imagine what Obama has in store for America, if he is re-elected.

We don’t need oil. We’re all going to run everything on the power of the Holy Unicorn and the Endless Rainbow after Obama is re-elected.
Oh, and remember when I said Romney wasn’t a fighter and couldn’t win? He’s trailing in battleground states and he’s making McCain-ian speeches calling for keeping a civil tone of respect on “both sides” of course. L O S E R. Newt would be having breakfast with middle American construction workers asking them how they felt about the President killing 20,000 jobs for guys just like them? Romney is going to respectfully discuss the pipeline’s potential implications for Climate Change and see if we can come to a sets of respectful dignified talking points about which we can agree to disagree. Awesome to watch this happening AGAIN!
Better hope we hold the House and don’t lose any Senate seats. I predict Romney will be praising Obama’s vision, leadership, later this year and he will have made his concession speech by October 1st. Then Obama will just pack the Supreme Court with 10 more libs like Kagan and it’ll all be over for us.

Any bets on BHO agreeing to this as his “October surprise” in a last ditch attempt to win over Independents in the election??? Although agreeing to this could alienate his “illegal alien” base–but then again, by the time he would possibly sign on to this in mid-late October–the lefty’s might have already sent in their mail in ballots–just a thought!!!
Wouldn’t put it past the “narcissist-in-chief”!!!!

This is quite a little stage play oBama is putting on. Pipelines and free trade corridors are the backdoor way to implementation of UN/ Agenda 21 plans to dismantle and part out the United States:
“The UN is laying the groundwork to ensure that its bogus sustainability agenda will offer enough inducements to the global business community to ensnare them in its control.
In an article by Terence Corcoran in the Financial Post, he characterized Rio+20 saying, “It’s as if the high priests of Occupy the Planet and the Green Apocalypse—having run their old socialist and environmental engines into the ground—have stumbled across a new set of rationalizations and slogans.”
As if the Obama administration hasn’t wasted billions on its green energy agenda, funding one failed renewable energy company after another, the White House Council on Environmental Quality announced in March that it will sponsor its third annual “GreenGov” Symposium September 24-26 in Washington, D.C.
“The Symposium will bring together leaders from government, the private sector, non-profits and academia to identify opportunities to create jobs, grow clean energy industries, and curb pollution by incorporating sustainable practices into the Federal Government’s operations.” If this wasn’t so ludicrous, I’d laugh, but these are the lies the Obama administration wants you to believe.
And people wonder why President Obama killed the Keystone XL pipeline, imposed an illegal moratorium on oil drilling in the Gulf of Mexico, and his administration has issued fewer leases for the exploration and extraction of oil on federal lands than any other.
….the sustainability hoax is being rolled out and will be on full display June 20-22 in Rio de Janeiro conference when the usual suspects and charlatans gather to plot the continuation of their socialist revolution.
There is not one single reason why the U.S. taxpayer should be contributing to this communist cabal and conference.”

Obama has a delicate balance to maintain with this… he wants environmental campaign money, but if he blocks this again, he will lose a lot of moderate and independent voters. The problem for America is that Canada is willing to sell their oil on the world wide market, including to the Chicoms if the pipeline doesn’t get built. Who can blame them?
Rachelle commented:
Obama isn’t procrastinating…he wants to destroy American jobs. And he is doing it very effectively.

Bluntly, I hope Bammbamm rejects it again … if he approves it, he might gain some “independent” votes … and we need to eject this Bozo from Washington. The next president could then make a couple of important moves on his inauguration day or the next day: (1) Reinstate the Mexico City policy (2) Send a courteous request to Canada that they re-apply for the pipeline … what a wonderfully affirmative day that would be.
