Score another win for Sarah Palin.
Grassroot’s candidate Deb Fischer won the GOP primary for senator last night in Nebraska.
AG Bruning, the establishment pick, was expected to walk away with this race as little as two weeks ago.
KETV reported:
The Associated Press has projected Deb Fischer as the winner of the GOP nomination for U.S. Senate.
Most of the evening, Jon Bruning maintained a lead over Fischer; however, during the 9 p.m. hour, the lead switched in favor of Fischer.
Just under 6,000 votes separated the top two candidates when the Associated Press called the race.
“We kept our focus on the issues. We kept our focus on the people. We’re Nebraskans,” Fischer said in her victory speech.
Bruning conceded the race to Fischer on Tuesday night.
A super-PAC controlled by Chicago Cubs owner Joe Ricketts pumped $200,000 into the race to support Fischer and attack Bruning.
Sarah Palin released this statement following Deb Fischer’s amazing win.
As recently as a week ago, Deb Fischer was dismissed by the establishment. Why? Because she is not part of the good old boys’ permanent political class. The message from the people of Nebraska is simple and powerful: America is looking for real change in Washington, and commonsense conservatives like Deb Fischer represent that change. I applaud Moms like Deb Fischer who are bold enough to step up and run on a conservative platform to restore America and protect our children’s future. Congratulations to the people of Nebraska. As the Huskers’ fight song goes: “The eyes of the land, upon every hand, are looking at you. Fight on for victory!”

Time to defeat the true war hero turned liberal Bob Kerry in November. And by the way Bob — take obama with you.

I hope Romney and Republicans use Palin to go after Obama and his merry band of Czars and misfits. . .

I certainly have no problem with SP backing Tea Party patriots over establishment types. I do notice, though, that she backs women over men quite a bit. Admittedly, I haven’t looked at the two candidates yet,so it’s just an observation, but I’m starting to wonder if “good old boy network” isn’t code for “boy network”.
Hope that doesn’t come off as anti-Sarah, coz I’m not.
I am going to go back and look at her endorsements, though. It seems she’s backed the woman pretty much every time there was one in the race.
OK. Just thought of an exception, Lisa Murkowski. But there was bad blood between them to start with, and Murkowski is practically a democrat.

love sarah!
maybe she will run in 2016!
Multitude commented:
Remember, the Tea Party is a failure because they’re not squatting in city parks, crapping on cop cars, smoking pot in “protest.” They’re just effectuating grass roots change and reform in their own local political structures.
I know, it sounds like the classic definition of citizen activism, peaceful and purposeful, but it can’t be that. The manufactured media can’t be wrong all the time, or else it’d be irrelevant.

The Hill article says Tea Party Express backed Bruning as did the establishment. I’m very glad I never joined Tea Party Express. What an embarrassing choice for them to make. Sarah picked the right one.

Sarah Palin, you did it. Thank you, GOOO Deb Fischer!

I don’t like to brag, but I called this race.
Sure, it was a few hours after the polls had closed and the winner was announced… what’s your point?

Gary, I have a feeling that the “girl power” bit is simply a reflection of the percentages of establishment males vs. conservative female challengers. I hope that’s the case, at least.
The most disappointing thing I’ve seen within the Republican Party (and society in general) of late is the over-abundance of wimpy males compared to the number of gutsy principled females coming along. What has happened to my gender? Why are so many guys turning into useless effite pushovers? When the ladies show more guts and determination than the so-called men, it’s a bellwether of a more serious and widespread problem.
More power to the ladies, and all credit due. But guys, come on. Man up, for cryin’ out loud.

Actually, this has less to do with the tea party or Palin than meets the eye. Stenberg would have been a great alternative for conservatives too. However, Bruning and Stenberg savaged each other for months. People got tired of it and looked for an acceptable alternative. They were already moing to Fischer when Palin came aboard. Sarah, I think, was xrucial as a cue to conservatives to leave Stenberg and unite with the best chance to win (also, it was great advertising that Fischer was conservative–since she was less known). I think the real credit should go to Fischer though. She put herself in position to win the noination AND the election in November.

Interesting times!!!!! Hooray for Deb Fischer. Over the past couple of weeks the Bruning and Stenberg campaigns have morphed from being simply intrusive to just plain annoying. I was averging 3 robocalls a day from the Bruning camp and Stenberg’s smiling face greeted me on every website that I visited. I even got a robocall from Bruning’s mother on Mother’s day for crying out loud!.
Stenberg has shown an inability to win a statewide primary in the past and people actually told me that they wouldn’t vote for him because he is not a winner. But he wasn’t Bruning so if he had been the only alternative He would have gotten my vote.
Bruning on the other hand, supported Eric Holder during his confirmation process. This was and is a fatal flaw for a candidate in my book!! A lot of credit goes to the “Great One” Mark Levin for pounding this fact home over and over again. I know of at least a dozen votes that flipped fromm Bruning just because of this one issue. The fact that Stenberg and Bruning have both been fixtures on the Nebraska political scene for many years certainly didn’t help them in the current anti incumbent environment either.
Deb just kept plugging away with a positive message and a smile one her face. There are plenty of Nebraskans that are pretty tickled this morning!!

You’re exactly right. I’m delighted that the conservative ladies are stepping in to fill the enormous void left by many of the metrosexual guys who are allegedly on the right (e.g., Boehner, McConnell, McCain, et al) who seem incapable most of the time of demonstrating that they even ‘have a pair’. Unfortunately, this is exactly what the left has been working so diligently at over the past 30 years or so… fully emasculating anything that even looks like a male. Now that the professional libtards seem to be nearing their grand finale, it’s up to the ‘mama grizzlies’ to save us from ourselves. Go get ‘em Sarah!!!

Watching across a state line for many years, I get the impression that Stenberg is generally well liked as far as serving in a state office, but when it comes to sending him national, he’s seen as always a bridesmaid, never a bride.

Eric Erikson has a column over at Red State on how the 2010 tea party favorites voted on fiscal policies, sourcing the Club for Growth. It does not look good. In fact, I would recommend everyone checking out Club for Growth from time to time to see how these freshmen are voting.
