SNL Takes First 5 Minutes of Show Bashing Mitt Romney in Stale Skit (Video)

That didn’t take long. Mitt Romney is not the official GOP candidate yet.
But that didn’t stop Saturday Night Live from taking the first five minutes in last night’s show to bash the former governor.
Via NewsBusters:

And, next week they’ll take the first five minutes to bash Obama.
Just kidding.

Nasty Joy Behar Mocks Sarah Palin: ‘Shouldn’t She Be Turning Letters on Some Game Show?’

A nasty Joy Behar on Wednesday appeared on MSNBC’s Last Word to attack conservative women such as Sarah Palin and Nikki Haley. Talking to the ultra-liberal Lawrence O’Donnell, Behar mocked, “Shouldn’t [Palin] be turning letters somewhere on some game show at this point? Why is she still involved in the conversation politically?”

Palin’s sin, according to Behar? Daring to opine on who Mitt Romney should pick as his vice presidential choice. Behar had more insults for the governor of South Carolina, who recently appeared on her ABC show, The View. Regarding Haley’s comment that women don’t really care about the contraception issue, Behar dismissed, “…I mean, that just shows you she’s not thinking. I don’t know where her head is at.”

So, SNL was not racist in its characterization of East St Louis? Race-baiting?

  • Timwi

SNL knows what the Obama people will do to them if they make fun of him. I’m sure Obama’s people are instructing them on what to do and on ideas for skits. The staff at SNL know how to follow orders quite obediently.

  • comedy is so bourgeois. but if you do it for the cause the politiboro wong hold it againist you.

  • #10…won’t not wong

  • Monkey Wrench

Is being bourgeois a bad thing? I thought only the elite and the intelligentsia looked down on the bourgeois.

  • #12…shows how much you know the term was coined by marxists as a sign of contempt for the middle class that would resist the dictatorship of the proletariat. people like your president.

  • Monkey Wrench

Sure. I’m quite familiar with Marx. But I’m not a Marxist, so I’m not influenced by Marx’s opinions.

For me, bourgeois is not a negative term. It’s property owners, the middle class, people like me.

  • “It didn’t take long”? Jim, have you been watching SNL? They have been doing this since last year. Way to be up on things. But every time they try to bury the Repubs it is never ever funny.
They just can’t get a foot hold on how to make this stuff funny – period. But they are trying.

Meanwhile, asskiss media mythologizes the life of one of its most dishonest practitioners — Mike Wallace.

  • Well, mock this:

‘The two young men had woefully little in common: one was a wealthy Mormon from Michigan, the other a middle-class Jew from Israel.

But in 1976, the lives of Mitt Romney and Benjamin Netanyahu intersected, briefly but indelibly, in the 16th-floor offices of the Boston Consulting Group, where both had been recruited as corporate advisers. At the most formative time of their careers, they sized each other up during the firm’s weekly brainstorming sessions, absorbing the same profoundly analytical view of the world.

That shared experience decades ago led to a warm friendship, little known to outsiders, that is now rich with political intrigue. Mr. Netanyahu, the prime minister of Israel, is making the case for military action against Iran as Mr. Romney, the likely Republican presidential nominee, is attacking the Obama administration for not supporting Mr. Netanyahu more robustly.

The relationship between Mr. Netanyahu and Mr. Romney — nurtured over meals in Boston, New York and Jerusalem, strengthened by a network of mutual friends and heightened by their conservative ideologies — has resulted in an unusually frank exchange of advice and insights on topics like politics, economics and the Middle East.’…

A Friendship Dating to 1976 Resonates in 2012

I wouldn’t call Willard conservative but ABO and being friends with Netanyahu makes it easier to vote for him.

  • Blacque Jacques Shellacque

Ol’ Willard is going to have to buck it up. He wants the nomination and it looks like he’s eventually going to get it, along with all the other things that are included.

  • Tim in Cali

If it weren’t for conserative radio or websites ,I wouldn’t even know SNL was still on the air…Is that Eddie guy still doing Gumby? That was kinda funny..Haven’t watched in a few decades now.

Yeah, “Madmen” even managed to reach back in time to take a swipe at Romney’s dad, George. Betty Draper’s 2nd husband, Henry Francis, in a throwaway line, calls Gov. Romney an idiot.

The saturation bombing will probably go forward in time as well. Look for some lame show to have Mitt’s spawn as evil rulers in a dystopian fascist future, or hapless goofs in an enlightened socialist utopia.

I’d like to say that today’s SNL gang is a pathetic shadow of the original not-quite-ready-for-primetime cast back in the 70s. But come to think of it, they were just as liberal back then.

What I note about SNL today (yeah I still watch it as punishment for things I got away with when I was a kid) is that they continue to take 10 seconds worth of a humorous notion and drag it out for five minutes until I almost feel sorry for them. They clearly aren’t capable of building out a funny idea, so they have trouble conveying it to the audience at home (though not to the libs in their studio audience) so they frequently wind up the skits on some odd note or with some totally meaningless non sequitur.

It’s even worse in the many, many SNL movies where half the cast is in the movie, and they clearly can’t come with 85 minutes of story around a single idea, so they usually toss in three or four painfully drawn-out toilet humor scenes or silly montages. All this rather than admit the idea didn’t merit a movie.

  • Gary

As for Romney, I guess Jason Sudekis just guaranteed himself 4 (or maybe 8) more years of employment at SNL. Funny to watch the 40+ comedians linger on past their time when a gang of new kids are coming aboard.

And I doubt Romney watches SNL, but I’m sure he’ll laugh hardily at the portrayal like all Republicans seem to do (even Sarah Palin sadly).

  • Gary

    Final comment about SNL:

Probably holds the record for untimely deaths of its performers:
    John Belushi
    Michael O’Donoghue
    Chris Farley
    PHil Hartman
    Charles Rocket
    Joe Bodolai (writer)
    Sam Kinison (frequent guest)

I’m leaving off Gilda Radner, Danitra Vance, and Andy Kaufman who all died of cancer, but
this should say something about who they are and how humorous their lifestyles are.
They’re haters, hate themselves and hate us too. It’s obvious when comedy comes from a dark place instead of good humor.

  • SpideyTerry

Remember that time Romney said there were 57 states or that it was unprecedented for the Supreme Court to strike down a law or that Hawaii was part of Asia or that Austrian was a language? Course, he never said any of that. Only a complete moron would.

“this should say something about who they are and how humorous their lifestyles are.”

Uh, you are aware that Hartman (a man everyone praised as the nicest guy you could possibly meet) didn’t die from his lifestyle, but was murdered by his wife. Kinison was killed in a car accident caused by a drunk driver. You’re gonna harp on these two when their deaths were caused solely by the actions of others? WTF. And Belushi – for all his personal problems – was regarded as kind to anyone he came upon unless seriously provoked. Farley was also well-regarded by his friends, just deeply troubled.

SNL is liberal propaganda garbage devoid of any genuine humor, but what the hell do ANY of the people you listed have to do with the state of the series today? Nothing. They all died AFTER their times on the show had ended and well-before this mind-numbing skit came along. How dare you use the dead to try to score points in this manner? Next time, try showing some class, harp on the people CURRENTLY working there and do some research before brazenly attacking the dead.

  • Gary

The story going around at the time was that Hartman had been cheating on his wife and she found out about it.

As for Belushi and Farley, drugs cut their lives short.

So what do all of these people have to do with the show today? Simple. It speaks to a culture that has existed on the show from the beginning.

As for research, I’ve watched the show since the 70s. I don’t need any more research than that. They have had mean-spirited anti-Conservative skits on the show since season one, episode one. That hasn’t changed, and I think I also made that point.

  • Gary

    All right, fine.
I probably shouldn’t have posted that last part about the cast members that died.
    Sorry for the offense.

I just can’t stand the one-sided nature of the show that has been there since day one, but I feel compelled to watch to see how they’re portraying our side.

So I’ll retract my 29 and 31 posts, but not the ones before that.

  • Nebular Remulak

This SNL skit is really is rich in irony. To be truthful, it should be run again with Obama standing in for Romney.

As a former resident, I can testify that the characterization of East St. Louis Illinois as a ‘Hell-Hole’ is at best an understatement and very generous. Even Mos Eisley, a “wretched hive of scum and villainy” from Star Wars has nothing on East ‘Hell-Hole’ St. Louis. As bad as conditions continue to decline in Chicago, they can always say, ‘At least we’re not in East ‘Hell-Hole’ St. Louis.’

East ‘Hell-Hole’ St. Louis is THE greatest Black welfare encased crime ridden ghetto city of all time, bar none, created and maintained by the Illinois Democratic machine solely to perpetuate voter fraud, welfare fraud, deficit spending, and to test and perfect all other types of government aid fraud. For example, East St. Louis School Board: 275 employees, 4 families.

Where is East ‘Hell-Hole’ St. Louis? In Illinois. Did Illinois have any self proclaimed “champions of the poor” Black senators that can help East ‘Hell-Hole’ St. Louis? Yes they did but they never got around to it in the brief time they were here.

Does Illinois now have any ties to important Black federal leaders that can do anything about or for East ‘Hell-Hole’ St. Louis? One comes to mind yet nothing was done or is being done about East ‘Hell-Hole’ St. Louis.

We must conclude current East ‘Hell-Hole’ St. Louis conditions are fine. The latest batch of national welfare schemes and deficits suggest East ‘Hell-Hole’ St. Louis is a prototype for the rest of the country. Accordingly we will never know the difference between success and failure, when everything is a failure. That is socialism in a nutshell.

If anyone suggests Mr. Obama has done anything right or has had any success, one need only point to East ‘Hell-Hole’ St. Louis to see his real record of abject intractable failure.
