EPA Official Resigns Over “Crucify Them” Attack on Energy Producers

The EPA official who bragged about “Crucifying” American energy companies has resigned.

Senator James Inhofe (R-OK) released video last week. In the video, Obama EPA official Al Armendariz promises to “crucify” potential foes of the EPA who disagree with the agency’s war on fossil fuel.

Al stepped down today.
Poor Richard’s News reported:

The Obama administration’s top environmental official in the oil-rich South and Southwest region has resigned after Republicans targeted him over remarks made two years ago when he used the word “crucify” to describe his approach to enforcement.

In a letter to EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson sent Sunday, Al Armendariz says he regrets his words and stresses that they do not reflect his work as administrator of the five-state region including Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana.

The horse dung is gone but not the horse’s rear. Lisa Jackson must go!

Good but there are many more in this administration doing even worse. This guy just is on of many.

    How about this:

    I’ll say it again…
EPA management is currently filled top-to-bottom with environmentalists.
They were taught that traditional forms of energy production are inherently evil.
They were recruited not just for their academic prowess but for demonstrating in their writings and extracurricular activities their total devotion to this creed.
They were chosen for being ‘true believers’.
They believe our continued usage of our most reliable and abundant sources of energy is a criminal act for which our country should be punished dearly.
Their mission is nothing short of the systematical dismantling of the coal, oil, and natural gas industries in the United States.

As someone said The horse’s ass is still there…. But its Obama….not Lisa Jackson. She is a flee on the horse’s ass.

  • olm

    Why bother with resignation?
The whole agency needs to go. At this point the resignation of one commie is meaningless as there are countless more to take his place.

President Obama’s top energy and environmental officials are casting their work as a core piece of White House efforts to boost the economy while using rough-and-tumble language to parry Republican attacks.

Four speeches over four days by Interior Secretary Ken Salazar and EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson signal a political all-hands-on-deck approach to defending the White House’s economic record ahead of the 2012 elections.

“The fact is we can’t create an economy that is built to last by putting our nation into a race to the bottom, a race for the weakest health protections and the most loopholes in our environmental laws,” Jackson said Friday in criticizing GOP proposals to kill or delay several regulations.

Inhofe to Investigate EPA’s “Crucify Them” Strategy

In a speech on the Senate floor, Senator James M. Inhofe (R-Okla.), Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, announces that he has launched an investigation into the Obama-EPA’s apparent “crucify them” strategy targeted at American energy producers. This investigation will look into EPA’s actions towards domestic energy production specifically in light of the agency’s recent efforts relating to hydraulic fracturing.

Inhofe’s announcement today follows several questionable statements from top EPA officials, including comments released in a little-watched video from 2010, which reveals EPA Region VI Administrator Al Armendariz admitting that EPA’s “general philosophy” is to “crucify” and “make examples” of oil and gas companies.

Yet another failed Government official, head for the familiar liberal graveyard: postgraduate school.

  • driguana

Like all government issues, whether local, state or federal, the problem is at the top. While this guy is a complete idiot, it is just a reflection on a poorly visioned and inadequatley managed department. Obama has made some of the most ineffective and destructive appointments in memory. Time for a good Spring cleaning.

Like Van Jones, he will be hired by a Soros funded commie think tank.

Only because it’s an election year…

And I’m betting there are a number of carbon copies to replace him.

These leftists are just like cockroaches. When the light of Democracy and justice shines on them, they run for the shadows, hoping that nobody will notice what they were doing, and hoping they can convince us that their comrades don’t share those same evil, sick philosophies and ideologies. They aren’t fooling me. This country does indeed face a domestic terrorism threat, but it’s not coming from the radical right, or from the Muslim community as Homeland Security and the MSM would have us believe it is. It’s coming from the Progressive left. The enemy is among us, attacking from within, and the sooner we realize that and extricate them from our government and our schools, the sooner America greatness will be restored.

His special skills are needed over at TSA screening. Torture one random flight passanger who looks strong and righteous in front of the crowd, and the rest in line will be humbled into passive submission.

  • Blacque Jacques Shellacque

The guy’s resignation is no indication that the attitude he described has been discontinued. The resignation of ONE official is typically nothing more than theater to keep the masses pacified.

The only action that is likely to get results is firing of ALL the managers and executives from the top on down.

We really do not need what the EPA has become – an attack arm of anti-American forces seeking the destruciton of the American way of life.

After Barry is gone, EPA nees to be dissolved and made a minor department within Commerce. Will save taxpayers Billions and save America generally.

To this I would add demolishing its old HQ building. Salting the bare ground would be optional.

  • DavidC

All his resignation means is that he got caught. I want to know how he ever got hired? Who hired him? How did he get promoted? Who promoted him?

The fact that he was OK with getting in front of a group with a microphone to put forth such an over the top analogy to put forth such a virulently anti-business diatribe is telling. It says that the agency is full of this leftist, business hating ideology.

  • dunce

He is leaving the EPA but he will got to an indirectly govt. funded think tank or activist non profit organization and continue to throw sand in the transmission of industrial progress with law suits and lies. He may also be hired by some university to stay on a payroll funded by unwilling taxpayers and to teach others how to subvert our nation.

Getting rid of one of these idiots is a faint victory, meaningless given the size of the runaway EPA juggernaut.

Investigate this to the fullest letter of the law..This is abuse of power, that’s why he’s gone so fast..They committed crimes and they know it .Extortion,Coercion, possible Bribery (think judges)..to many to mention ..EPA,you gotta go

He says his comments do not reflect his work in the agency…..

How stupid does this man think the general public is?

Is there a Democrat in this administration who is NOT a pathological and habitual liar??

Perhaps leaving “in this administration” out of the previous question is more accurate.

  • Blacque Jacques Shellacque

How stupid does this man think the general public is?

The outcome of the 2008 presidential election probably gave him some ideas…

  • Robert

“he regrets his words and stresses that they do not reflect his work as administrator”

His words do reflect his mindset, and the actions subsequently taken speak for themselves.

By the way, is he still getting a nice fat pension?

  • tommy mc donnell

this guy is typical of the people appointed and hired by this administration. to the stop the havoc they are and will wreak on this country not only does the myth have to be voted out of office, everyone he appointed and everyone they hired will have to be removed from the government. does anyone think romney is up to that challenge. all romney will do is make sure that the elites in the republican party maintain their power.

  • valerie

“In a letter to EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson sent Sunday, Al Armendariz says he regrets his words and stresses that they do not reflect his work as administrator of the five-state region including Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana.”

Al Armendariz did not just toss off a word. He spent some time clearly explaining how the analogy applied to his philosophy of enforcement. He said his agency engaged in selective prosecution, with the intent to do as much harm as they could to the businesses.

This of course leads immediately to the question of just HOW the victims were selected.
