When the Civil War ended, and after Republican President Abraham Lincoln liberated the slaves, Democrats initiated Jim Crow laws to punish blacks. Democrats discriminated against blacks. In fact, the KKK, was founded as the the terrorist wing of the Democrat Party.

The Ku Klux Klan assassinated many Republicans including Republican Representative James M. Hinds (December 5, 1833—October 22, 1868) of Little Rock. Hinds represented Arkansas in the United States Congress from June 24, 1868 through October 22, 1868.

But facts be damned…
Chris Matthews this week said the GOP was the “grand wizard” party.

The last KKK official to serve in Washington DC was former Senator Robert Byrd, a KKK kleagle. Byrd was a democrat.

  1. I quit watching C Mathews when he talked about the tingle up his leg He will go the route of Oberman sooner or later

  2. Matthews just isn’t smart enough to pull off the job he’s trying to do.

And then there’s the racial issues. There is no way someone could be this obsessed with race and not have some deep dark thoughts bouncing around in his head. He’s constantly making these “where the hell did that come from” type racial allegations.

He’s covering for something – badly. The guy should go get some mental help.

  3. Byrd was a Grand Kleagel.

Not your local KKK chapter but the leadership level.
The duties of a Kleagel is recruitment and retention.

    Democrats are just racist liars.

  4. I wonder if tingles can name a single republican that was a member of KKK?

  5. The clusterf*ck that is Chris Matthews is the racist. He sees color and race everywhere and it says to blacks that you are not good enough to be judged on your character or record and therefore I will define you and defend you based on a ridiculous racist charge.

The black community is slowly starting to see that the demorats are really the ones who are continulally enslaving them.

GOP wants them judged on content of character and not skin color.
GOP wants them judged on their work and record not skin color
GOP wants them to succeed or fail on their own merit and be responsible
GOP wants them to have the freedom we have promised them since the civil war.

Liberals use the bigotry of low expectation…thats worse than anything the so called racist GOP can do.

Chrissy Mattews is a turd that has circled the bowl for far to long and needs flushed

Also I’ve seen a picture of the Democrat National convention- 1924?, with Democrats marching down the street, thousand and thousands of them in KKK uniforms with the capitol behind them.

  7. Chris Matthews still has a show? Why does ANYONE go onto his show?

  8. lmao chris mathews is a real jerk, how many losers watch him?

  9. I have come to believe that those who practice liberalism are not merely ignorant fools, but clinically deranged. There can be no sane explanation for such outrageously irrational behavior.

Also a possible factor in this case is Chrissy Matthews using his loud soprano voice and false bravado to cover for his lack of male development during what should have been puberty.

  10. Holy crap. We woke up this morning and realized we’re all progressives now! Thanks Chris.

It’s actually remarkably difficult to see where he’s making the connection (other than the usual substance-less tourette-inspired name calling the left engages in). There is a teachable moment out of this, however. I’m quite insufficiently studied in progressive history (having spent more time in the greater Marxist category, ala Marx, Gramsci, Althusser, the Frankfurt School, Lenin, Mao, etc. – something necessary for some of us professional theorists who need to attack Marxism at its core; one must understand what one attacks).

What I do know is that the whole terminology of the movement based on the concept of “progress” is a myth according to how we innocently encounter it. To the movement’s founders, progress was not progression toward a radical new potentiality of a liberated humanity, free from the shackles of tyranny of prior political systems. It was instead a top-down progress, invented by societies elites as a counter-reaction to a reaction. Progressivism began out of white, elite fear to Marxist revolution, developed by “progressive, enlightened” rich white Europeans. It feared minorities would connect with Marx, realize the elite white folk were controlling everything, and like Warren Buffet and George Soros, had one hell of a guilt complex about it all. So it pretended to be progressive too!

What a lot of folks don’t know is that even Marxism was reactionary, not progressive. Marx was terrified of the extreme radicalism of the arts, individuality, creativity, etc. He was smack in the midst of the belief that science and math would perfect man, but felt man needed to have a sovereign that was the laborer (or his vanguard during transition to perfection). Dialectics, the belief that we can take pro and con, smash them together, and find a new pro/con, smash, etc. until we finally reach perfection, was intrinsic to this Ascension of Perfect Scientific Man thought. This was far better than the chaos of the hordes, the repugnant, smelly people that litter the esteemed halls of Congress as Harry Reid would say. Marxism subsequently is entirely about CONTROL. It loathes uncertainty. It desires 5-year-plans and predictable societies with little to no variance. It is cold, calculating and mathematical in its epistemological groundings and framings.

Progressivism therefore is a watered down, white elite educated European property-owning snob’s trickery to fool the masses that it too believes in a system of perfect control. But instead of going through the scary moments of revolution, it promises it will get there with the elite vanguard we already have (Soros, Buffet, and other global elites). “See, we’ve hired one of your minorities to be your President. He’s even dark skinned, but of course, went to Harvard and is half-white and pedigreed. Best of all, he reads the scripts we give him (but plays way too much golf and really isn’t one of us).”

Progressivism is closely connected to the Klan, given its southern elites seeking certainty. It just has nicer plantations and more comfortable quarters for the slaves and sharecroppers. Chris Matthews subsequently is modern Klan through his self identification as a progressive. To call his political opposition the KKK is mere distraction for the slaves on the plantation, no different than Warren Buffet whining that he needs to be taxed more (while being sued for not paying what he already owes).

  11. When will Steele learn? You can’t go on and smile and be nice to these morons.

  12. “Tingles” has never been one to allow facts to stand in the way of a (to him) good rant.

  13. “Facts are like kryptonite to a liberal.”

    Saw this comment somewhere before.

  14. Democrat Klansmen murdered thousands of Republicans, black and white, in southern states after the civil war. The Democratic Party used the KKK and other terrorist groups to eradicate the GOP in most areas of the postwar South.

  16. why let the facts get in the way of a good racist lie? the question is why does corporate america sponsor these lies made againist their customers?

  17. Do any of you know that Chris Matthews used to be a fill-in host for Rush Limbaugh?
I seriously think he needs to be checked for a brain tumor.

Also, I thought Steele stopped too short in response that.
I believe he said “don’t go there with me”. Should have launched into the history of the KKK as a wing of the Dem party. I assume he either didn’t know that, or was afraid to make a factual error off the cuff.
Oh well, I’m sure it’ll get settled on Twitter in the coming days.
