This is what you call a trust deficit.

US Marines were told to leave their weapons outside the tent during Leon Panetta’s speech today.

Obama officials are “getting itchy.” The administration asked US Marines today to leave weapons outside of the ten

The New York Times
reported:

“In a sign of the nervousness surrounding Mr. Panetta’s trip, the Marines and other troops who were waiting in a tent for the defense secretary to speak were abruptly asked by their commander to get up, place their weapons — M-16 and M-4 automatic rifles and 9-mm pistols — outside the tent and then return unarmed. The commander, Sgt. Maj. Brandon Hall, told reporters he was acting on orders from superiors.

“All I know is, I was told to get the weapons out,” he said. Asked why, he replied, “Somebody got itchy, that’s all I’ve got to say. Somebody got itchy; we just adjust.”

Normally, American forces in Afghanistan keep their weapons with them when the defense secretary visits and speaks to them. The Afghans in the tent waiting for Mr. Panetta were not armed to begin with, as is typical.”

Panetta says massacre will not deter Afghan mission

[In an earlier incident, a motorcycle bomb blast in Kandahar city that
killed an Afghan intelligence soldier and wounded two others, as well
    as a civilian.

A roadside bomb also killed eight civilians in southern Helmand province,
where Panetta began a two-day visit by meeting with U.S. and coalition
forces at two bases, Afghan provincial officials said.

Panetta told soldiers at Camp Leatherneck, the main U.S. Marine

  5. This is because Panetta knows that he is committing and supporting treason. Panetta knows that the only authority to allow the U.S. military to go to war is Congress, and not Obama alone. There are special circumstances for the POTUS to authorize to go to war, and that is when the U.S. is actually being attacked. This is a sign of guilt. They know what they are doing folks, and they know it is treasonous. They are also trying to say that they do not trust the U.S. military.

  6. Is the military still allowing “locals” to work inside our bases over there? It’s our understanding that they work at the base by day; fight with the bad guys against our troops by night!

What if they had been attacked while in that “stupid” meeting? If Panetta wants to meet with the “big wigs” over there and tell them to leave their weapons outside–fine–but it was irresponsible to put our troops in harms way by making them leave their weapons outside with no way to defend themselves if there had been an attack.

Wanumba #21 I do not underestimate the self discipline of our soldiers. In fact I will readily admit that this generation of soldiers is far better than those of my generation. We were all draftees, or , in my case, an enlisted refugee from the draft. But I speak from personal experience.

I’m glad I know your background better. The way you wrote might easily be picked up by those with an agenda … and taking far further than you intended, I was thinking.

Aside that, I take an idea raised and then expound on it much further beyond what the poster I responded to said … to expand the discussion, that is for people who do actually discuss as you do, except in the cases of trolls, who should be harrassed and berated to the closing preposition, semi-colon and period.

  8. This is not a sign of nervousness. it’s a sign of cowardliness displayed by this administration. Don’t they have an underground bunker at the Pentagon that Panetta can hide in?

  9. When you can’t even trust your own troops to protect you, it’s time to fold up your tents and get the hell back to Washington.

  10. Get the troops out now. Do a Dunkirk through Uzbekistan to Tashkent. Leave enough weapons and ammo behind so these 13th century savages can kill each other far into the future. We’ll be gone from the stan for a month and it will belike we were never there. And do a wheels up before Karzai and his clan can escape to their Swiss accounts.

Tank commanders are senior enlisted personnel. During Vietnam, river patrol boats were usually under the command of senior enlisted, Chief Petty Officers and above.

It all depends on the size of the command, really.

  12. The morons in this administration don’t trust American soldiers.

Think how they will act when they wake up not trusting American generals.

that may have been true in the days of yore, but they have nukes,
and left in unfettered Islamist hands these days, they will diligently
be raised as jihadists from birth to fight in their never ending Islamic
Crusades against the US & West in the name of Allah..

Bush was right, fight the fight they not only brought upon themselves,
but declared against US & the West over there, not that it matters now,
as Obama not only made it harder for US to win, but brought them back
here and assigned Muslim Brotherhood members US policy makers..

okay, back to sleep we go, we’re just too smart to let
that happen right under our noses in plain sight.. /s/
