Top US Bishop Accuses Obama Administration of Misleading Public – Promises Legislative & Court Challenges to HHS Mandate (Video)

The top Catholic bishop in the country, Cardinal-designate Timothy Dolan, promised legislative and court challenges to Obama’s contraceptive mandate today.
Via FOX News Special Report:
Bishop Dolan also accused the Obama Administration of misleading the public on the mandate.
USCCB reported:
Cardinal-designate Timothy Dolan, president of the USCCB, sharply criticized the decision by the Obama administration in which it “ordered almost every employer and insurer in the country to provide sterilization and contraceptives, including some abortion-inducing drugs, in their health plans….Never before has the federal government forced individuals and organizations to go out into the marketplace and buy a product that violates their conscience. This shouldn’t happen in a land where free exercise of religion ranks first in the Bill of Rights.”
He urged Catholics and the public at large to speak out in protest. Watch his video & then take action today!
The Obama administration, to justify its widely-criticized mandate for contraception and sterilization coverage in private health plans, has posted a set of false and misleading claims on the White House blog (“Health Reform, Preventive Services, and Religious Institutions,” February 1). The problem is not the mandate. The problem is Obamacare. When the bishops start protesting that, classwarfare, the false dogma that Christianity is socialism, and the increasing welfare state, then I’ll know they’re no longer liberal and are serious about Church teachings. Until then, they’re just blowing smoke.

He’ll have to excuse me if I politely decline to do as he asks, even though I’m Catholic.
I can’t say I have much respect for a leader who only decides to speak out against a governmental injustice only when it is discovered that all of a sudden, he and the community he heads is now affected in a negative way.
What’s more, Cardinal Dolan should have known better – he’s an American by birth, not a foreigner that has scant knowledge of the U.S. Constitution.

It’s not so much where the Church has been (esp since Vatican II) but what direction the Church is going. More Orthodoxy less liberal mainline protestantism behavior and reactions. Have faith – we are not the church of your fathers or grandfathers – but rather we are the church that includes militants for righteousness.

I heard earlier today on a talk radio show that if paying for free abortions stands, then Barry could start dictating how many children a couple can have all in the name of what is healthy for people. Give the government control of one aspect of people’s lives, health care, and they have defacto control over everything.

I don’t want to pay for your birth control, your abortions, your unplanned pregnancy, or your kids. Get out of my wallet and work, and buy some inexpensive birth control pills or keep your legs together. We need to stop coddling people and let them face consequences. We’re carrying too many losers and loafers as it is. The idea that other people should pay so that someone who doesn’t have a few dollars for some condoms or a trip to the free clinic can have sex anyway is ridiculous. We only consider it because of the threat that there will be a pregnancy and then we’ll have to pay for that. Well, we shouldn’t have to do that either. We had better toughen up and make careless people deal with their own messes by workiing 2 crappy jobs, going to school at night, giving up “accdental” babies for adoption, gettng married, etc. That’s how it was when this society worked, and it was hard for those who messed up, but everyone was better off for it. Anyone my age (old) knows people who were given up for adoption, raised in orphanages, married by necessity, went to night school to get ahead, etc. They all became better people than the shameless beggers the current system turns out by the boatload. Beggars who don’t know what’s wrong with them, can’t buy a clue, and show little initiative to even try.

That being said (and thanks for letting me rant for a second) I’m waiting for this to get really nasty. I’m glad to have Cardinal-Designate Dolan on our side. He’s from Wisconsin, ya know. We’re used to divisiveness and have learned to stand our ground.
