Rep Darrell Issa (R-CA) was on with Megyn Kelly this afternoon to discuss Fast and Furious.
Issa signaled that the House will hold contempt hearings against Attorney General Eric Holder.

TPM reported:

House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa signaled Tuesday that his committee will “move forward with the contempt proces against Attorney General Eric Holder unless the Justice Department commits to “providing, at a minimum, a detailed description of documents it is withholding” from his committee in the course of their investigation into ATF’s Operation Fast and Furious.

“The Justice Department’s request for additional time has, unfortunately, not been followed by efforts to bridge the significant differences between its legal obligation to Congress and the reality of its stonewalling,” Issa said in a statement. “The committee is determined to know what happened in Operation Fast and Furious and how the Justice Department responded when it was publicly confronted with evidence of reckless conduct after Agent Terry’s death.”

Issa wrote in his letter that DOJ “is playing political gotcha games, instead of allowing a co-equal branch of government to perform its constitutional duty to conduct oversight of the Executive Branch” (emphasis in original), commenting on Holder’s criticism of Issa’s investigation.

  1. I don’t know if Issa will prevail but I gotta tell you – he’s doing his job and a fine job at that. As a conservative Californian, I’m thankful for Issa. At least we have ONE on the right side…

  2. Finally, a Congressman with some big enough Chimichangas to go after one of Obama’s best and most reliable Corruptocrats!

WE have to many that sit back collect their pay and goodies and do little but trade legislation for campaign contributions. WE need to fill a prison in the Mojave with crooked politicians inside and outside of California.

  3. I’ve held this entire subprime administration in contempt since day one.

Let’s not make this historic mistake again.

  4. My question is, what would be the practical effect if Holder was found in contempt of Congress? Do they really think that Obama apparatchik Holder would actually feel shame or be so embarrassed that he would resign in disgrace?

Would a finding of Holder being in contempt of Congress trigger some sort of trial for Holder? As far as I am aware, Holder serves at the pleasure of the President, and only Obama can fire or remove him from office.

Do they think that Obama would jettison Holder if the heat got too intense?

  5. Issa and his dog and pony show is getting old and boring.

“They don’t believe you can make these decisions,” Sanatorium said to a packed high school auditorium.

    Sanatorium?

If Obama wins re-election, there will be impeachment proceedings. It really does take that long to put a case together. The Fast & Furious scandal has thus far failed to reach the Presidential level, possibly because Eric Holder is stonewalling.

There will be other cases, as well, some of them having to do with the distribution of taxpayer funds to Obama bundlers in the guise of “The Stimulus” and other antics.

What I don’t understand is why Harry Reid is still Senate Majority Leader, even though the Senate is three years behind on passing a budget. I would have thought the Democrats themselves would have had enough of this nonsense.

I guess somebody didn’t learn their lesson.
You’ve already been exposed on this website.
    Find somewhere else to play.

  10. By the time they’re forced to hand over the documents, there won’t be any documents to hand over.

  11. House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa signaled Tuesday that…

“Signals” don’t mean anything. Actions are an entirely different creature.

So when will we be seeing some action?

  12. When Issa is done with Holder I hope we let Mexico extradite him. He should have a good time in a Mexican prison with the killers he gave guns.

  13. This looks bad. Maybe we should get someone from the Department Of Justice to look into it because purposefully misleading congress is a serious crime… oh wait..

  14. Do they think that Obama would jettison Holder if the heat got too intense?

Obama won’t jettison Holder. Holder knows where the all the bodies are buried. No way in God’s little green apples would Holder keep his mouth shut to cover Barry’s crooked communist ass. He would spill the beans about the sins of Barry, in a heartbeat, if he knew that Barry was going to dump his ass. Perhaps it would be poetic justice if that would happen.

  15. Fake, phony, fraud Issa is selling another line to starved right of center Americans. He just gave Holder a complete pass on Fast and Furious, gave him unlimited time to get together anything he needs. It is over. Boehner, Issa, the whole crowd is working for Obama. How else would you explain them letting him have fake recess appointments, after giving a photo op saying they deplored it? I see the GOP has successfully fooled a lot of people here. The GOP doesn’t give a flip about America, they love ObamaCare as evidenced by the fact it sits untouched in a committee. You fell for Issa’s little PR move. Actions say much more. F and F will be forgotten.

  16. do it NOW

Then blame TPM for the coyness of the headline.

  18. Representative Issa is a real mench!

  19. I wish it would happen but I honestly believe this whole thing will be burried. It will never make it to the White House. The heavies in Washington will see to that. Even Boehner.

  20. Then blame TPM for the coyness of the headline.

I’m not sure that TPM is something worth focusing on; I’ve been hearing rumblings that the reason there’s been little headway with House proceedings over Fast And Furious is because there’s some sort of involvement by Boehner, and not for the better, either.

  21. Quit “signaling” and finally DO something, Rep. Issa.

Boehner sticking his nose where is doesn’t belong wouldn’t surprise me one whit. For all the “conservative” bleating he loves to do when it doesn’t matter, any action he pursues is to maintain the status quo of governmental expansion.

  23. This is as infuriating as watching the fire chief holding a meeting about the possibility of unpacking the fire hoses while your house burns to the ground. Do IT! Do it NOW! All I want to hear from him is the results. If he has time to be talking about what he is doing he has far too much free time on his hands. Do what you are going to do and move to the next target, he’s worse than a sniper that refuses to ever take the shot.

  24. ++

how long is this going to take.. gah!!

  25. I love reading comments here by the Obama trolls….if I’m reading their inane comments here it means that’s less time the’re spending actually doing anything constructive. If they think they’ll win any converts here they are so sadly mistaken. The more they troll the more convinced I am that the’re terrified that Obamessiah is going to lose the election and they’ll lose their government handouts, forcing them to have to work for a living to eat and keep a roof over their pointy, empty heads. Troll on!

  26. Time for playing politics is over. No more letters to Holder unless it is a Contempt of Congress charge. Bring this up before the full House membership for a vote, and lets see who the cowards are. “We the People” need to know which ones need to be weeded out of Congress. The DOJ asked for an extension and it was granted until the 9th of February, that has passed to no avail and now they want another extension. It is a sad day in our country when the DOJ will not comply with the law. Sets one hell of an example doesn’t it?

  27. This is a warning that anyone discovered impersonating a fellow commenter will be banned.

  28. For heaven’s sakes, I wish Issa would stop with the idle threats and just press the charge.
    Get on with it.

Thank you admin, I have seen a wave of this happening at several blogs. This is not an isolated incident but smacks of at least a little coordination. You might want to get in touch with a few other site admins to start compiling a list of impersonator ID’s to pass around.

  30. Congress is a co-equal branch of the government with the executive? You could have fooled me. If that is true why are they sitting on their hands letting obama push out all these executive orders eliminating our freedoms. I should think oversight is called for for obama’s cr*p. Yes, they are sitting on their hands and only raising them to pass a law abolishing the connection to millions of tvs in this country because of the cable industry lobby, or changing our light bulbs to benefit GE, or to make sponsors tone down the volume of their ads. All th the important stuff, you know. I don’t know what lobby wanted less water for our toilets so we have to flush them two or three times.

  31. congress tried barry bonds and roger clemens for lying but politicial appointees get a pass.

  32. EPA is blatantly passing regulations about CO2 when the Clean Air Act stated they could not do this. Where is the oversight on this?

  33. #30 bing………..better hurry before cry-baby Boehner pulls the plug on whole investigation……..just sayin

  34. What if Holder does an Obama-in-Georgia, and just doesn’t show up? Is Congress more prepared to force compliance? If not, we are without laws, or more accurately there will be laws for us to obey but not for the rulers.

  35. I want Boehner gone. Now. Today. Step aside and put in a he**raiser mouth. You blew it by doing the old nice way. Go. Thank you. Bye. Why did we take the House back? We want MOUTHS and we want them to be able to take on the DEMS and their army of Professional MSM Pooper Scoopers.

I heard a soundbite of Boehner today. Sounds right. So? So what. Calm. Dignified.

Give me a break. Obama is BACK and we get McConnell and Boehner and that smirking GOP head. Give me a break.

Issa. Much better than most of them. Thank you. Now get on with it. It’s about time. And if you can’t get Holder, start knocking heads of all those ELECTED leadership positions in our party.

We are in trouble folks. Obama is BACK.

Thank you, Blackbird. That’s a good suggestion.

  37. So has anyone else been reading elsewhere that Boehner has cut a deal to let Holder off? It could be just me clicking away at links and ending up somewhere I shoud not trust!

  38. Get on with it! Besides – there are still plenty of folks @ Gitmo awaiting the Atty Gen ‘pick up’ the al qaeda flag & continue to fight in their defense.

It’s just a darn shame that as Spring approaches that we know the coward, Mr. Issa, won’t be inviting the atty Gen to any of his BBqs.
