“Obama’s Hostage Crisis”
Newt Gingrich calls the 19 Americans being held in Egypt the “Obama Hostage Crisis.”

  1. Egypt holding Americans hostage. Who could have possibly seen this coming?

  2. HEYYYYY!!!!!

I wrote that when it happened.

Someone is thinking as fast as me, about time!

  3. Good job Newt. Now bring up Fast and Furious.

  4. Go Newt! You just gotta love him!

  5. It should be “America held hostage”

  6. Here it is-

Ummmmmm, excuse me, this looks awfully familiar. What country grabbed a bunch of Americans and held them after they went Muslim fanatic? Oh that would be Iran. So now Egypt goes Muslim fanatic and THIS TIME, they are just going to do the same thing but with an air of supposed legitimacy.

I have a suggestion, send a huge contingent of about 1000 Democrats over to negotiate. Just an idea.

  7. Tonight we’re gonna party like it’s 1979

  9. obama has caused more damage in the middle east than any president in history. Is this part of the arab spring. I’m sure the lib media will be all over obamas failure in egypt, turning an ally of the USA into an enemy. Who is obama gonna blame this time.

  10. Obama: the Carter flashbacks just keep coming.

  12. Thanks Newt, this story is eerily silent on the lamestream news channels. Imam Obama is in full agreement with the muslim brotherhood he is just waiting till the election to let his towel show. Now Newt needs to hammer the Imam on Fast And Furious. And and usual, Romney is taking the McCain stance and not wanting to ruffle any feathers on the Obama vulture that is feasting on the middle class.

  13. Duhh! Is Newt wrong? Of course not, the parallels are there for all to see (even if you didn’t read David’s comment above!)
So, what are we going to do this time?
Zero gonna’ try quiet diplomacy? Send in Pantsuit? We all know how the Muslims hold women in such high esteem! Pantsuit will get their attention!
Here’s an idea, cut off all aid to Egypt today. No warning. Just do it.
At the same time, sign an executive order (Zero’s good at this so, it shouldn’t take but a minute) Making it illegal to trade with Egypt in any way.
And last, freeze all Egyptian assets in the US, today.
Then we’ll talk after you let those hostages go. Maybe.

    Earth to Newt et al

i think he knows more than he’s letting on, i think Gingrich,
Cain and West have a plan to expose Obama’s Islamism..

  15. Newt is spot on…………….Obama helped create this mess……….Like i said on earlier post who are these so called hostages?………..Only one name has been release………….could it be Andy Stern’s World Unite people…………they sat-up shop right after so-call Arab Spring………..just sayin

  16. Newt has gotta kick the hornet’s nest EVERYDAY to bring Nerobama to account… and damn the consequences. Keep it up, Newt!

  17. We are abandoning ex-allies and BHOnehead does not believe that our country has legitimate self-interests to defend in the world. Politically, we will see drones used to pop a few terrorists and send in special ops to kill some bad guys once, or twice, a month until the election. Strategically, the drones and special ops count for virtually nothing.

Equating Egypt’s blundering to Iran’s 1979 declaration of war is typical Newt. Great sound bite, stupid politically.

The people held will be released, the media will interview a few who praise their captors and DumBHO will grandstand as the rescuer of captives. Clinton will be praised for brilliant diplomacy. We will cut a check for billions to Islamists and our enemies will laugh. Part of the funds will get recycled to the fall campaign to wreck America.

  18. Personally I don’t agree with using these individuals for political gain on either side. Newt is just trying to make points but whatever.

The US Government takes tax dollars from the middle-class and gives it to the Egyptian regime at a sum of over $1.5 billion. Now they are holding American citizens hostage, but the government is still planning on giving them our money. This is another perfect example of why the government, regardless of political party, should stop giving them our money.

I’m not one for wasting American money or lives on nation building via our military. It doesn’t work just look at the debacles in Iraq and Afghanistan. However, this is a perfect example of how we could use our military. Go in, get the hostages, and leave. Don’t occupy the country, just get in, grab the American citizens and leave.

  19. Hi.

Here’s the mess all in one, starting from a few hours ago with news you may or may not know……

Egyptians cancel meetings with US lawmakers.

I really don’t like using the ‘see, I told you so’ angle because this is NOT about me or anything I do, but hey……… See, I told you so.

  22. Good job Newt. Now bring up Fast and Furious.

The lack of attention this issue has received in this race (I don’t recall it ever being brought up) says a lot.

  23. The corruption of the Obama Administration makes Mexico look good in contrast…

  24. #17 spot on…………this all staged Hostage crisis to make Obama look a big hero ……………..smoke and mirrors here………just sayin

[The affair began with raids by Egyptian security forces on 17 offices of 10 advocacy groups last month, evoking denunciations from the U.S. and other countries and reinforcing charges by Egyptian protesters that the military rulers who took over a year ago from ousted President Hosni Mubarak are perpetuating his regime's oppressive tactics.]

You think the R’s might want to make some hay out of this?

  28. Uhhhh, who are these people, and what are they doing?

The only reason I ask, is Code Pink went to Tahrir Square in the early days of the uprising and tried to press money and help on the Jan 25 group, which politely declined, because they know what Code Pink is all about.

Right now, everybody is assuming these are simply election facilitators, and they may well be. It’d just be nice if somebody would identify the groups, the people, and their missions.

There are two reasons why it is not in the interest of the Republicans to bring up the Fast & Furious scandal right now:

    1) they all agree on it: it’s malfeasance of some sort.

    2) Their voters agree on it.

I am fairly certain the eventual nominee will have something to say about it.

  33. Newt: As a former supporter, (And I say that sadly, as I believe the damage to your cause is largely self inflicted.), I have to conclude that you will not get the nomination, barring unforeseen circumstances.
However you can do this country an enormous service nonetheless. Use the pulpit that you have to damage that pretender in the White House, and his enablers in the press, to whatever extent possible.
I am not keen on Romney, but he is the best bet to unseat Obama given the circumstances. As they say, you go to war with the army you got. But it is imperative that Obama be held to one term. The damage he has done to the republic is serious and will be fatal if allowed another four years.
Another term for Obama spells the end of America as we have known it. Put your country ahead of your ambition and pound Obama, not Romney.

    Valerie,

bit more info via #26 link here..

[Fayza Aboul-Naga, the Egyptian minister for international cooperation,
said earlier that Egypt has been protesting a "unilateral" U.S. measure
to direct part of its economic aid to human rights and democracy groups
since 2004, according to her office. She described it as political funding
that is not allowed by Egyptian law.

A statement from her office quoted Aboul-Naga as saying it was the duty
of the groups not to operate until they get permission. "They know they
are working illegally and without license," said Ambassador Marawan
Badr, a top aid to Aboul-Naga.

Abdel-Shahed said Egypt is wrong in its interpretation. "The Egyptian
government thinks that a prior permission is needed before U.S. directs
its money to its recipients," he said, "however, the U.S. government
says there are no conditions and it is free to use its money."

A cut in U.S. aid is possible as a result of the dispute.

    [..]

Abdel-Shahed said the National Democratic Institute, one of the
U.S.-funded groups, has been working since 2005 to obtain a
license through the Foreign Ministry, which sent the group a list
    of documents required for registration.

He said the NDI provided the ministry with lists of
names of employees, activities, and sources of funding.

Since then the government has recognized the group’s activities,
he said, allowing it to observe the recent parliamentary election.

The president of International Center for Journalists, Joyce Barnathan,
whose Egyptian staffers are among those facing trial, said that during
the application process, her center was asked to open an office to show
    that it was active.

“Everything was open and transparent,” she
said on the phone from Washington, D.C.

The center was working on a project to
train citizen journalists to cover local news.

“We never had a political agenda,” she said. “I am
concerned about their welfare of our staffers there.”]

  35. Amen #2…Newt has been tenacious at seizing on every opportunity to press issues as they break. Its the kind of leadership that has been sorely lacking .

  36. Middle East is a killing field. This administration is living a fantasy world if they believe that sanctions and words are going to ever bring peace. This administration has been inapt and no tough action.

They could careless what we say because they don’t fear us. Why, we have one of the worst president who believes his power can change the world with a smile and a hand shake. Or bowing.

Until we have a tough president who listens to his commanders, we will never be respected.

  37. Gingrich likens Obama to Carter, says Egypt is his ‘hostage crisis’

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) blasted President Obama’s handling of the detention of 19 Americans by Egypt’s government, comparing him to former President Carter and his management of the 1979 Iranian hostage crisis.

“We now have the Obama hostage crisis to resemble the Carter hostage crisis,” said Gingrich, a presidential hopeful, at an event in Golden, Colo., on Monday.

Egypt announced this weekend that 43 foreign nonprofit workers, including 19 Americans, who had been banned from leaving the country would be put on trial. Egypt has accused the workers who are promoting free elections of receiving foreign funding and not registering with the government.

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood’s son is among members of the group being held for trial.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton warned Saturday that U.S. funding could be pulled if Egypt doesn’t resolve the situation. Egypt is expected to receive $1.3 billion in military aid from Washington.

“We are very clear that there are problems that arise from this situation that can impact all the rest of our relationship in Egypt,” Clinton told reporters during a visit to Germany. “We don’t want that.”

Despite the threats to cut off aid, the Egyptian government has refused to reverse course.

Why limit the number of Democrats sent to Egypt to negotiate their release to only 1,000? Why not send all of them — I mean, they’ve all been saying that negotiation is the solution and they’re soooooooooooo good at it!

  39. Awww just borrow a few more BILLION from China, to give to Egypt.. so they can go to umm maybe Russia to buy some more military equipment.. that should make them HAPPY enough to let the detainees go. Or maybe he will send in “team 6″ again, to save the day just like Carter did. Team 6 is always so handy to solve all the problems./sarc

  40. And yet we are told that there is possibly 5 out of ten Americans or I shoul say as_holes that would vote fo this jackass!

  41. That’s what I said last night when this article came out was, when is Obama going to send ther SEAL’s in there to rescue them? Or is he going to negotiate with the Egyptian’s by forcing Israel to release some they are holding in their prison’s?

We could just save alot of money and send a jet in there and bomb the place and take out some Egyptian terrorists at the same time, by killing everyone!

Or, since Newt is calling this Obama’s hostage crisis, which I agree with in a way, then is Obama going to fool around until Newt takes over President and then all of a sudden the Egyptian’s will release the hostages like the Iranian’s did when Reagan was elected? Good!

  42. ++

    this is no joke..

[Are we scared yet? This guy thinks he is supposed to bring on the “end of days” and the only way to do that is to kill millions of people. Neither sanctions or the usual nuclear deterrence, known as MAD mutually assured destruction (you nuke us–we will nuke you) will never work with Ahmadinejad, because he is not after riches or territory—he’s on a mission from God.]

i believe it’s part of the elite plan.. the US gets hit, the Muslims fall in line
behind the 12th Imams arrival.. who, lo and behold, becomes the ONE to
lead the New World Order via the UN..

Egypt’s feminists prepare for a long battle

["Myself, my colleagues, researchers - we have been writing about this,
that this Orientalist view of Arab women and Muslim women has to stop.
Muslim and Arab women are not an exception and their struggle - our
struggle - is part of the struggle of women everywhere, in all traditions,"
    said Abou Bakr.

While she concedes that the work to shift the way Sharia views
women has been largely scholarly, the move from academia to
    activism is beginning.

"There will always be resistance and struggle on the part of women
    - we will always resent being pictured as being victims all the time,"
    said Abou Bakr.

  50. Valerie, I refer you to an article at brietbart on ACORN money laundering that includes how they laundered govt. grants to code pink and onto the flotilla to Israel. Total corruption by a scheme that might have been refined by obama when he was an official part of ACORN but probably not because the scheme works and has for years and obama every thing that he does ends in failure.

  51. We should all go over there and enjoy the Arab Spring. Democracy is in full bloom (to our DC blooming idiots!)

  52. I have a solution to the whole mess. Park two aircraft carriers, one in the Med and the other in the Red Sea. Warm up half a dozen cruse missiles then assemble the media to make the following announcement.

To the Muslim cowards in the Muslim sisterhood be advised: ALL foreign aid and trade is hereby suspended with your country indefinitely. Release ALL the hostages unharmed with special care given to the 19 Americans you are holding. Upon confirmation that you have safely surrendered the hostages to a friendly nation, and only after confirmation that all are accounted for and healthy, I will stand down the bombers, fighters and cruse missiles currently on station awaiting orders to begin leveling your most holy sites.

You have three hours to comply, if you chose not to respond, the carpet bombing will begin.

  53. Why isn’t this a big story in the media? Obama did in Egypt just what Carter did in Iran, not support a strongman who kept the radical Muslims under control and now Egypt will be another Iran. Can you believe a country we support with BILLIONS of dollars is holding the son of a cabinet secretary hostage with threats of prosecution and it isn’t even on the media radar? We are so screwed; Obama has done irreparable harm to our Country. ANYBODY BUT OBAMA IN 2012!
