An El Paso woman was hit by a stray bullet in Mexico while pushing a stroller today.
The El Paso Times reported:
El Paso Police Chief Greg Allen said the woman was a 48-year-old mother who was pushing a child in a stroller when she was shot in the upper right calf.
Allen said the round went through her leg. She was taken to University Medical Center of El Paso.
Allen, El Paso Mayor John Cook and El Paso County Sheriff Richard Wiles conducted a press conference late Tuesday afternoon at City Hall.
Allen said the woman is a Mexican citizen but has a residency card and lives in El Paso.
Allen said that the bullet came from a gunfight between carjackers and law enforcement in Juarez.
Cook said that the public should not panic over this incident and that El Paso is still a safe place to live.

Just don’t walk down any streets.

You also going to ensure people know you make the train run on time too, Mayor Cook?

We ran guns into Mexico to make sure of it.

This is absolutely correct. People shouldn’t be panicking, they should be getting angry at our do-nothing government.
Really, REALLY ANGRY.

Just to be quite clear, I hope you enjoy yourself. Pretending to be me is probably the only joy in your small, tiny miserable life.

Maybe obama will buy some votes with a bullet proof fence.

Where either the act is committed, or the injury received, has legal jurisdiction to pursue the crime. Fired in Mexico, but landing in the U.S., gives us legal perrogative to pursue it.
But then again, treating this as a law enforcement issue, rather than a military one, would likely be misplaced. Law enforcement can investigate on our side and collect evidence while the military handle it on the other, so that no hint of a posse comitatus issue should arise. Yes, our military.
I’m sick of hearing the routine reports of their military crossing our borders with no consequence. The crime protruding into our nation as a result of the defacto state of war in Mexico over the dope pipeline is enough to justify it, since the outmatched and corrupt Mexican govt cannot seem to police itself and keep it’s side of the border under control.
Or plan B, which is to randomly place snipers on the border with the ROE’s giving them the ability to engage anyone that points a weapon toward the U.S. within a designated distance of the border. In this instance, their military would need to notify when operating withing that designated area so as to not be taken out unintentionally.
To make it less intrusive, we’ll limit our snipers to .300 mags and use a 1200 meter buffer zone (unless we start receiving large caliber rifle rounds at which time all bets are off).
I’m curious if things like this have a parallel in history (other countries dealing with the scale of violence on their borders AND not regarding it as fair fodder for military protection.
I’m not stating there are no diplomatic consequences to this, but that can be someone else’s problem. I’m simply offering an easy and workable way to raise the cost immensely to those who wish to play this game that currently carries little cost from above the border (and likely only the cost of a bribe below the border).
It is worth a shot (no pun intended).

Just another example of how stupid the gov’t thinks we are. Ummm, YES, people SHOULD panic and YES, El Paso IS a dangerous place to live. Ask the woman who just got shot. It could’ve been her baby. Perhaps the residents should make a mass exodus and leave the elected officials there to deal with it.

Mean while US troops have been securing the border between North/South Korea. It’d be nice if we actually secured our own borders before securing other countries borders.

Obviously that bullet came from a Mexican doing the work Americans won’t do.

THe United States first secured its borders and protected our citizens succesfully when the US NAVY ships showed up at Libya, Morocco and Algiers. For over 200 years, projecting our forces to the source of the aggression has protected our national security better than running around hither and yon on our own borders.
But … you as a self-professed 3 tour Marine, should KNOW that better than some slacker skateboarder slurping a double-latte at Starbucks for a cheap internet connection.
