Good grief.
At a campaign stop in Sioux City, Iowa on Sunday, Republican presidential hopeful Rick Santorum singled out blacks as being recipients of assistance through federal benefit programs, telling a mostly-white audience he doesn’t want to “make black people’s lives better by giving them somebody else’s money.”
CBS reported, via Pat Dollard:

Rick Santorum:
“It just keeps expanding – I was in Indianola a few months ago and I was talking to someone who works in the department of public welfare here, and she told me that the state of Iowa is going to get fined if they don’t sign up more people under the Medicaid program. They’re just pushing harder and harder to get more and more of you dependent upon them so they can get your vote. That’s what the bottom line is. I don’t want to make black people’s lives better by giving them somebody else’s money; I want to give them the opportunity to go out and earn the money.”

  1. C’mon. He didn’t say or mean that. seriously – the guy stumbled over what he was going to say. If that’s the best the MFM can come up with, he’ll be fine.

  2. others are outrageously outraged CBS printed that, but that’s what he says. I don’t disagree with teh factual basis, but geez….

  3. CBS is stirring up the hate for their liberal masters……………sue the crap out these government run-media sources everytime they mislead the public ……………..they would be out business in no time………….just sayin

  4. Jobs pay so much better than welfare.

  5. Politically incorrect. Should not have singled out one race because their are people of all races sucking off the bankrupt system..
End the Fed.. End the wars.. End foreign aid.. End corporate and public welfare.. End government interference in free market forces period!!..

Only if you want to work.

  7. Blacks need to get off the Democrat plantation!

  8. Hear hear Mr Santorum. Let’s have that conversation. Shall we LIBTARDS??

  9. Oh brother. Good-bye, Rick.

What did we do to deserve this?

  10. Santorum’s political career has been over since the Terry Schiavo business. He just hasn’t realized it yet.

  11. oh my eric holder’s cowards spotted

  12. good greif indeed, he didn’t mention the illegals.

  13. Pity telling the truth gets you in trouble.

Jesus spoke the truth and we crucified him.

The masses want lies and platitudes, too ignorant

To even see the truth as it endangers a petty

    Mind.

    Powder is dry

  14. He’s speaking the truth. If black’s can’t take it get off the dole.

  15. No matter how this could have been phrased, it is fodder for the DNC and their propaganda arm that is the MSM to use to unfairly attack Republicans and Conservatives.

It worked in the past, and it will work now more than likely.

  16. Ouch! It was obvious he realized he screwed up even as he said it. This will get a LOT of play. however, if we let gaffes decide this thing, the other side will win, since the media controls the gaffes more than anybody.

  17. Rick Santorum is a moron and Ron Paul is an F’n moron.

  18. well let see …if I remember the numbers AA are about 12 – 13 % of the population but are about 40 % of the welfare rolls ….so they are more than 3 times over represented on welfare than their numbers would suggest

  19. i have to admit i listen this tape earlier over at Weasel Zippers and did not hear him say black-people……..so i never listen to it here until now……….Even if he did say black it certainly was not in racist manner……..everything he said was right on …………….just sayin

  20. You know, it isn’t all the clear that Santorum says “black.” It seems like he was going to say some other word, but changed his mind mid-speech or utterance.
