Rick Perry Defends Urinating Marines: They’re Kids Who Made a Mistake, Not Criminals (Video)

“18, 19-year-old kids make stupid mistakes all too often, and that’s what’s occurred here.”
The Washington Post reported:
Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) on Sunday defended the four Marines who were depicted in a viral video last week urinating on the corpses of three Taliban insurgents, arguing “what’s really disturbing to me is just, kind of, the over-the-top rhetoric from this administration and their disdain for the military.”
“Obviously, 18, 19-year-old kids make stupid mistakes all too often, and that’s what’s occurred here,” the Republican presidential candidate told Candy Crowley on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “But, you know, when you’re in war, and history kind of backs up — there’s a picture of General Patton doing basically the same thing in the Rhine River. And although there’s not a picture, Churchill did the same thing on the Siegfried line.”
Tell that to democrats.

He correctly said that this administration’s reaction was over-the-top. I would add, grossly hypocritical.
They support people who cr@p on police cars in the United States, in peacetime, where every voter has the ability to write their elected representatives, they pay for “artists” to do strange things like stick a crucifix in urine, and to stink up museums with sweaty T-shirts. For them to express shock and outrage (!) because somebody who has been through a firefight does something stupid, is more than a bit much.
The kids misbehaved, and obviously there was a command failure on the part of some sergeant and a captain, but the faux outrage looks bad on them, like a cheap madam pretending virginity.

I have absolutely no problem with what these soldiers did. I do, however, take issue with Perry calling the soldiers ‘kids’. They stopped being kids the moment they put on the uniform of the United States Marines. They are men, and damn brave ones.

I totally agree. The current American infantilism is completely disgusting. I call my sons young men. In peculiar self-fullfillment, since the age of fourteen, Americans think they are five to ten years older than they are. How out of kilter is that? Ridiculous.
These Marines are men, those Taliban may have killed or maimed more than one of their buddies, and were trying to kill them, so they are making a statement, which is pretty mild considering alternatives. It is possible to have enemies one honors, even in defeat if that man or those men fought with honor and skill. But these are murderers of babies, little kids and executors of women. WHat honor do they deserve?
