A pro-life Arizona college student quit her job with the Girl Scouts over “end abortion” T-shirt.

Renise Rodriguez wears the offensive ‘Pray to End Abortion’ T-shirt that caused a stir with the Girl Scouts.
LifeSite News reported, via Free Republic:
An Arizona college student who stopped in at her workplace wearing a pro-life t-shirt quit her job rather than obey a supervisor who ordered her to turn the “Pray to End Abortion” shirt inside out. Renise Rodriguez, a 21-year-old religious studies major at the University of Arizona, worked as a Girl Experience Associate for the Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona in Tucson. When she went to her office on Jan. 3 during her off-duty hours to prepare materials for a meeting, she was told twice by a supervisor that if she planned to stay in the office, or attend a troop meeting, she would have to turn her shirt inside out.
“I started to get emotional because of the way I was treated so I left without preparing for the meeting and told my co-worker that she would have to get the stuff together,” Miss Rodriguez said. “As I was driving out, I called a friend crying and told her the story. I was so shocked at the way I was treated. After contemplating it for the rest of that day, I decided to write my letter of resignation.” Her letter did not specify her reason for resigning, but she plans to discuss it with another supervisor when she does her formal exit interview.
“It is the courage and conviction of young people like Renise that gives us hope that we are closer than ever to winning this battle and bringing an end to child killing in America,” said Bryan Kemper, Director of Youth Outreach for Priests for Life. “Young heroes like Renise prove this generation is a pro-life generation.”
Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, applauded the young woman. “What does the pro-life movement need the most right now? It is not large numbers of people who believe abortion is wrong; it is a small, courageous band of people who are willing to risk and sacrifice everything to end abortion,” he said.
Recently it was revealed that the Girl Scouts were urging young women to read the far left website Media Matters.

GSA went full bull-dyke decades ago. I wanted to put my granddaughters into the program but not a chance nowadays. They are seriously warpring young girls’ minds with AGW, ‘tax the rich’, and all the other failed programs of the leftards.
It’s a shame too. They used to be such a great organization and program for girls. Libtards turn everything they touch into $hit.
Agathon commented:
Nothing has really changed. They were always dykes, now they’re out of the closet.
Snowsoul commented:
Liberal GSA and liberal Tucson make for a bad combination.
dunce commented:
They are not teaching the little girls any traditional values. Their program for teaching responsible behavior is practicing putting condoms on cucumbers just in case they were not taught this in school by their unionized teacher.
Rose commented:
I’ve known for decades the way they ran things that something was terribly wrong – they’ve used those girls for nothing but fundraising for 30 PLUS yrs. And everything each local troop was SUPPOSED TO DO, the mothers had to raise ALL the funds to do THAT, too. The keep for the girls and the local troop was nothing. Something terribly wrong.
So no surprise.
Peggy R commented:
Good for her. What’s Fr. Pavone up to? Isn’t he ordered by his bishop to remain in the diocese of Amarillo? Is he conducting business from there?
Stan commented:
Because apparently the Girl Scouts want to pass on to their charges that it’s OK to get out and start sleeping around as early as they can since abortion will always be there to bail them out of any mistakes.

The main theme of the leftists these days seem to be the killing of inconvenient children.

Not teaching them any SELF ESTEEM, EITHER. [So-called ~FAMOUS DIM Message~ to the kids] They think girls don’t know what they are saying to them when they tell them THEIR babies ain’t fit for the gene pool???
Militant Conservative commented:
This is similar to the reason I do not support the United Way.
The United Way refuses to support the Boy Scouts of America due to the scouting
organization refusing to allow GAY troop leaders. The Boy Scouts are a private organization.
Girl scouts are not a “private organization”.
Benson II commented:
This entire argument is hypocritical to say the least. If the young girl had been wearing a T-shirt that said Planned Parenthood is a solution and the supervisor ask her not to wear it we would all be applauding. So we applaud when it supports our beliefs and boo when it doesn’t. This is leftist think at it’s best.
YES! the Girl Scouts like other organizations are no longer about American values but there is an appropriate time to wear sayings that support our beliefs. This was a total over reaction that happened because we are tired of being pushed around by the left. This doesn’t mean we need to use their tactics.

Benson we can just ignore the assualt on everything we hold dear and ignore what the Left does and write angry letters to the Times! And watch as our society becomes more and more corrupt and degenerate.
Orwe can fight. If resistance is considered the same as what the Left does, then I favor it.
lemonaide commented:
I say we encourage this young lady to wear that same t-shirt when she goes for the exit interview.

The cookies aren’t that great either,

Since I live just outside Tucson I guess this is the year that I, and my friends and neighbors, will be boycotting Girl Scout cookies. I suggest others do the same and make it very clear why they are not buying any more Girl Scout Cookies. The Progressive Obamabots refuse to listen to us, so maybe they’ll listen when we talk with our wallets. Moochelle will probably soon be mandating that they sell only Arugala veggie wafers anyway.

Well I guess I’ve bought my last thin mint.
Patty commented:
I wish all the others working there would make a stand and come in wearing the exact T-shirt that this young lady was wearing.
But that won’t happen.

Does anyone happen to know if there is an alternative organization to girl scouts? It seems like I heard about some sort of conservative/traditional alternative group…but I can’t recall the name.

I went to American Heritage Girls not sure if the sell cookies but they are better than what is going on With Girl Scouts. The little girls aren’t the problem. Bureaucracy and Liberals PC is.
tommy mc donnell commented:
so the GSA have been infiltrated by the political left too.
Sharon commented:
For those looking for a conservative scouting organization for girls, check out the American Heritage Girls. They are partnered with the Boy Scouts now. Troops are structured for ages 5-18, with an Eagle like award called the Stars and Stripes. Badges are life skilled oriented and each meeting begins and ends with flag ceremony and a prayer. I have 2 girls in it, I am in a Catholic troop in Ohio and it’s just awesome! Camping is also a big part of it as well as the outdoors.
Christopher Taylor commented:
Thankfully the Girl Scouts of America dumped the Media Matters reference from their documents, but its clear that like all organizations, the left is beginning to infiltrate their leadership.
Sheila commented:
The Girl Scouts went over to the dark side many years ago, but most parents are too stupid to see – just as they continue to send thousands of dollars and their kids to be brainwashed at “elite” universities.

I would love to know what Planned Parenthood’s involvement is in the Girl Scouts of America.
I have been so upset since Obama said “Obama Says He Doesn’t Want His Daughters Punished with a Baby”
Dear God, why do you think this nation has problems. With insane comments coming not just from the left but a president who seems to be too personal with American people.
I realize comments of a personal nature slip out from time to time but a president should never set a social tone. This is not his job nor the job of media matters, planned parenthood or any government. The values we teach our children in school should always be pro life.
That is a perfect reason to either home school or send your kids to Catholic Schools. Things need to be change with the radical attitudes especially when it comes to a human being who has no say and his a product of two human beings who have sex without thinking about the creating a baby. Teaching our kids that killing a baby is wrong and it will affect the rest of their life.

So glad to see so many mentioning American Heritage Girls on here. When my daughter was born 4.5 years ago, I told my husband she would never be in Girl Scouts. It’s not what it was even when I was in it in the 70s and early 80s. I remember it being wholesome (probably because my leaders were not feminists) and have very fond memories. After reading about lesbian recruitment at GS summer camps 15 years ago, I knew no daughter of mine would ever be involved. At least my two sons can still be in Boy Scouts.
Steve Cakouros commented:
The radicals have control of the GSA. No more cookies for me.
kato commented:
I’m surprised some of you haven’t heard about the leftist agenda at top of the GSA. It’s not a new phenomenon.
The GS may give out merit badges for abortions. And for reading Earth in the Balance.
Bozo the Clone commented:
#12 Benson has a point. Wearing a T-shirt about an adult and sensitive subject is a bit over-the-top for the Girl Scouts.
Your complaints are only “legitimate” if the GSA allows “Reproductive Rights” or Che Guevara T-shirts complete with revolutionary slogans. Perhaps the GSA does allow these (woudn’t surprise me), but surface those first and point them out before complaining about what is an appropriate rule — if even-handedly enforced.
Terentia commented:
Just one bit of advice. Never quit. Make them fire you. Don’t give in and do as they tell you but don’t quit either. I have been in a similar situation-supervisor trying to make me participate in an abortion. I refused and kept refusing. The supervisor repeatedly told me I had no choice but to obey. I knew that she could fire me for refusing but that didn’t matter. I just stood my ground. If she wanted me out, she was going to have to fire me. Fortunately, she blinked and I kept my job. But even if it hadn’t turned out that way, I wasn’t going to make it easy on her.
No Man commented:
I will never again buy GS cookies.

I bet if I wore a “Vote to Support Abortion” t-shirt at work, in church, or just in public generally I would be made out to be a villain also and thus, find myself the victim. None of this is new. It’s the classic battle between religious extremists and persistent idealists. Grow up. Love thy neighbor.

Light and Love commented:
You people are really scary. I don’t think Jesus would agree with your hate.
Lyrical Liz commented:
#40. Where’s the hate? I’m not seeing it. What I AM seeing are people willing to forgo spending their money with an organization that affiliates themselves with child-murder, and the devaluization of woman as simple sex objects.
Jesus says, “‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” Therefore, advocating the murder of another human is deplorable, and to me, a child in the womb is another human being. I will not allow my money to go for such an act, NOR will I allow my money to go for those who teach young ladies that they should debase themselves to any man who walks near them by being considered ONLY a sexual object.
This lib obsession with calling every contra-PC thing “hate” is bullspit. This is what freedom is truly about: Being free to spend our money where we see fit, instead of being forced to spend it on things which are contrary to my moral code.
August commented:
For me Jesus is very good, but who feel follow Jesus have abused the goodness of Jesus
Suzanne commented:
WOW the amount of hate in these comments is just sad. Its not as if the council would have allowed a pro-abortion shirt to be worn either. It was inappropriate and would have been if it had been a pro-life or pro-abortion statement. She would have had the same reaction at a public school, a state office, or any other public service entity. End of story she got emotional because she felt she was being targeted for her beliefs instead of taking responsibility for her breaking the rules. There are all kinds of clothing someone might where at home that would be inappropriate at work. If you come in when you are off shift you need to be dressed appropriately. It is just a simple matter of someone legitimately breaking the rules, and who was given the appropriate reprimand (they didn’t ask her to leave, just to turn her shirt inside out… and having to ask her twice means she was insubordinate).
No matter how you feel about abortion it doesn’t belong at the work place.
Anna commented:
No political, social or advertisement shirts are allowed. She should have been wearing a Girl Scout shirt or a plain one and she would have been told the same thing if it was pro-choice. To act like her beliefs are being attacked is a shameful lie and I suspect she knows it.
