Mitt Rips Far Left Crank Matt Lauer on Obama’s Politics of Envy: “The American People, I Believe in the Final Analysis, Will Reject It” (Video)

Matt Lauer received his talking points bright and early this morning and was ready to attack Mitt Romney before his appearance on the Today Show. Lauer reviewed Mitt’s victory speech from last night in New Hampshire and tried desperately to get Mitt to apologize. It’s just too bad Mitt wouldn’t play along.

Mitt ripped the far left crank on Obama’s politics of envy.

Here’s the transcript from the Today Show:

LAUER: When you said that we already have a leader who divides us with the bitter politics of envy, I’m curious about the word ‘envy.’ Did you suggest that anyone who questions the policies and practices of Wall Street and financial institutions, anyone who has questions about the distribution of wealth and power in this country, is envious? Is it about jealousy, or fairness?

ROMNEY: You know, I think it’s about envy. I think it’s about class warfare. When you have a president encouraging the idea of dividing America based on the 99 percent versus one percent — and those people who have been most successful will be in the one percent — you have opened up a whole new wave of approach in this country which is entirely inconsistent with the concept of one nation under God. The American people, I believe in the final analysis, will reject it.

LAUER: Yeah but envy? Are there no fair questions about the distribution of wealth without it being seen as ‘envy,’ though?

ROMNEY: I think it’s fine to talk about those things in quiet rooms and discussions about tax policy and the like. But the president has made it part of his campaign rally. Everywhere he goes we hear him talking about millionaires and billionaires and executives and Wall Street. It’s a very envy-oriented, attack-oriented approach and I think it will fail.

Don’t you just love the way Lauer says the left “questions policies and practices” when he really is talking about pooping on cop cars, public squatting, rioting, vandalizing businesses and attacking cops?

Doesn’t Matt Lauer make 17 mil a year? If he’s so altruistic why doesn’t he give away 16 mil? Are we to believe he can’t live on a million bucks a year? Why doesn’t he work in the afternoons at a soup kitchen? Why doesn’t he tend AIDS patients? Why does he leave that kind of work to the rest of us? Is he above that??

I’m all for seeing the criminal progressives in New York sent away to prison and seeing all their toys taken away. Anyone know where we can get an honest President and AG?

A rich neo-media type interviewing a rich neo-Democrat-RINO about greed, envy and the progressive way! Wow what are the running dog stalinists of Amherst, Berkeley, and OWS going to say?

Matt Lauer is free to give more of his million$$$ to the Treasury any day he wants. That libturd is in the 1%, bet on it!

#3 i have been asking that very same question for some time now. It is funny how these rich news readers look down their noses at other rich folks who actually work for thier money.

  • USMC Thomas

When are all these rich socialist liberal’s going to give away their fortune and live in 1500 sq. ft. homes with a compact car in the garage?

  • HERE’S A BETTER ANSWER – (SOMEONE GET THIS TO THE ROMNEY TEAM):

“Letting people keep what they earn is fair.

Having career politicians use the government’s power to come and take it away from those who earned it in order to give to someone else is unfair –

especially when they give it too the unions who are part of their machine –

as Obama did with the UAW,

or when it goes to big donors as Obama did with Solyndra when he gave them $500 million.”

  • Pete_Bondurant

First of all, Matt Lauer is a homo. Secondly he makes a lot of money, so as others have suggested, he is welcome to send Washington more money of his money.

    Romney handled it well.

    Gingrich is an idiot.

So Romney thinks it’s ok to discuss distribution of wealth in “quite rooms”, meaning in secret and using tax policy to achieve said “distribution”, meaning redistribution. however discussing it as part of your campaign statagy is wrong? Romney thinks that the policies the Prez is publicly pushing should be done in private…guess Mitt will see to that if he get in?

I like it when the Progs wear their intentions on their sleeves, I don’t need some Rino to take it back under the covers.

The problem for us conservatives is that every parasite on our economy buys this absurd dialog about “social justice” and “fairness”.

Obama is stoking up anger because angry people are like silly putty in the hands of a politician. The increasing number of ignorant people in America are a danger to our entire political system. These parasites are not capable of thinking beyond the rhetoric.

Right now outcomes are determined by the free market system. Look at how miserably Obama has done with his crony capitalism with Solyndra, and the other green energy fiascoes into which he has squandered our money. The liberal lemmings have no idea how much worse off we will all be when Obama is determining what is fair. Can you imagine the extent of the corruption and back room deals that will be cut if Obama (or any other liberal) gets to be the arbiter of “fairness’?

Lauer made $13 million last year. Think about that. Maybe he’d take a PAY CUT for THE CAUSE?

Good post IPSO. The fact is OBAMA doesn’t care what harm he causes our economy or our country. He is a Marxist. He will be gone in 4 plus years regardless. He will be rich, he will live lavishly and his angry wife will be RICH and ANGRY.

This reeked of JournOlist. Watch for it people, it is no longer REdistribution of wealth, it is simply distribution of wealth, and you will hear it repeated ad nauseum.

But Matt Lauer is not running for president. Who cares how much he makes. The point is that Mitt is paying lip service to conservative values that he does not share and we appear to be falling for it. He’s a stuffed suit and whatever the stuffing is smells a lot like sh*t.

  • Dittogirl

The law of the land should be that anyone that rules/suggests that redistribution of wealth should be law, should be made to go first. Every penny of their wealth should go to someone else. They must go first to set the example.

WHen that happens then I will listen to them and pompous bullcrap.

  • Sasja

Mittens is moving to the right to get the nomination. No one can assure me he won’t move back to the left if elected. Right now, I don’t trust any pol to be half-way honest about his intentions, especially Mittens.

Matt Lauer may be the famous cop car pooper!

The man is a disgrace to the media. Always has been, always will be “a turd”!

  • These left wing journalists just keep pushing the leftist agenda. Push push push. Nag nag nag. Until hell freezes over. We need a change of journalism.

  • J Craigski (the only true Commissar here)

Peoples, peoples, all should be prepared to sacrifice. Respect to be paid to the workerws. Matt Laurer is a good people’s worker, Romney is an agent of the wall street running dogs. We must be sure that good workers triumph and bad workers get a trip to the gulag and are re-educated after the Party redistributes their goodies amongst the Party’s members. I shall divide the spoils, I mean the people’s property.

All you evil capitalists shall be made to pay for your work and industry.

  • Mama Grizzly

The Left always talks about people who make a lot of money as being “unfair.” but they never talk about THEIR money as unfairly obtained. No. It’s those OTHER rich people.

  • Mama Grizzly

Oh, and they NEVER EVER talk about Soros or pro sports players or Hollywood.

  • James

This one time Perry supporter is liking Romney more and more. Romney has clearly articulated that he supports all the issues that are important to me. He has stated he is pro life, pro marriage, said that Roe v. Wade was wringly decided, would appoint conservative judges, pro legal immigration, pro business, pro jobs, would not hesitate to attack obama and would abolish obamacare. Notwithstanding romneycare, I believe him to be truthful when he says he will abolish obamacare. Romney has earned my vote.

  • Rock

Matt Lauer is nothing more than a puppet for liberal elite, its all he knows. If your looking for journalistic integrity watching him is an exercise in futility. Turn on Mickey Mouse, at least you can laugh at the absurdity of the material presented.

Lauer tried to put words in his mouth but Romney did not fall for it when he posed the question repeatedly as “anyone who” when Romney called out obama for harping on millionaires and billionaires, not “anyone”. The “anyone” are the nobodies that call themselves OWS. They are paid for by obamas campaign supporters and merely are repeating his mantra to try to make it appear that obama has wide popular support for socialism.

James, if you actually believe that Romney believes any of those things (look at his actions, not his words of the moment), I have a bridge you might want to buy.

  • LetMeTakeMyBlindersOff

“LAUER: Yeah but envy? Are there no fair questions about the distribution of wealth without it being seen as ‘envy,’ though?

ROMNEY: I think it’s fine to talk about those things in quiet rooms and discussions about tax policy and the like.”

Really Mittens – it’s OK to discuss the distribution of wealth and power “in quiet rooms”? In other words – behind closed doors. Oh – just like Obama and the Dems.

  • Gary

    Two points.

    1. It looks like the thing we don’t like about Romney may become an asset. He’s super slippery, and that shows how the left will have a harder time getting at him.

    2. It’s a language barrier with the left. When we use the term “distribution”, we’re referring to the mathematical breakdown of wealth as we find it across the population. When the left uses this term, they are referring to how it gets “doled out”. So it’s apples and oranges.

What the left conveniently leaves out on the issue of wealth “distribution” is that we are not talking about the same people year after year getting richer or poorer. Tracking incomes over the past several decades, we can see that those in the bottom fifth of income brackets thirty years ago have almost all moved up, some even to the top fifth. Meanwhile new young people have come up to take their place in the “just starting out” bottom fifth. So why is there more disparity in the way the money is “distributed”? It’s because Americans overall have been getting wealthier for the past seven decades, while the bottom bracket remains the bottom bracket. The rich are getting richer (and so is everybody else) but the poor are still defined as the bottom fifth. That, by definition won’t change. So the poor are not getting “poorer”. We have to stop letting them get away with this phony argument.

  • Chris W.

Lauer is one of the biggest jackwagons on TV. The more criticism of that far left crank the better,

  • Kissmygrits

Does Mitt mean that he talks privately about the fair distribution of other peoples wealth? He had the opportunity to knock this socialist idea of a fair redistribution of other peoples money back into Lauer’s face and he whiffed. His inability to do so, willful or not is disturbing. If he was a real conservative he would not be promoting this theme.

  • Sense

Hate to shatter your isolated, little view of the world, but Matt Lauer is a conservative and not a “far left crank”. Matt (reasonably) asked if “anyone” (i.e. the average American) could question the practices of Wall St without being accused of being motivated by “envy”. Romney (unfortunately) tried to use the question to slam Obama, making it sound like all Americans (outside the 1%) are envious.

Y’all need to stop. My family’s been voting R but that don’t stop foreclosures (my sister and mother). The economy sucks and Romney ain’t the quy, alright! Obama ain’t doin it neither. But for sure, the banks are sucking us dry…look at you statements and see that they are taking us for 4, 5 6 bucks a month on fees. Never had that in a long time till now after they got their big-time bailout! No I dont suffer from envy, I think we all just wanna pay our bills and feed our kids, Mitt. Stop with the fightin about what Lauer is or how much Obama makes or any other crap. That aint going to fix our problems. Our big problem is that these politicians are on the take from vultures and Gingrich is right on that! BUt ya’ll notice that Newt’s hushed up lately because the fat cats are gettin nervous with the truth!
