Tea Party favorite Herman Cain tonight endorsed Newt Gingrich for president of the United States.

MSNBC reported:

Former presidential candidate Herman Cain, who last week endorsed “the American people,” announced his support on Saturday of another entity — this time a Republican hoping to win the White House.

“I hereby officially and enthusiastically endorse Newt Gingrich for president of the United States,” Cain said at a GOP fundraiser.

Speaking to supporters on the day he left the race last month, the former head of Godfather’s Pizza said he would be making an endorsement. But at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference in South Carolina last week, he announced that his official endorsement would be of “we the people.”

While Cain publicly promoted his endorsement last week, the one he made Saturday night came with little warning. The announcement was a surprise to Gingrich staff, and the traveling press who most frequently cover the former House speaker were not in attendance after boycotting the price the campaign was charging for chartered flights.

“There are many reasons, but one of the biggest reasons is that I know that Speaker Gingrich is a patriot. Speaker Gingrich is not afraid of bold ideas, and I also know that Speaker Gingrich is running for president and going through this sausage grinder,” said Cain. “I know what this sausage grinder is all about. I know that he is going through this sausage grinder because he cares about the future of the United States of America.”

UPDATE: Giuliani Praises Newt and knocks Mitt Romney.

    Go Newt.

  2. Go Newt :)

‘As Florida prepares for the Republican primary on Tuesday, will the Jewish vote prove key to the outcome?

Steven L Abrams, Palm Beach county chairman for the Newt Gingrich campaign and an elected county commissioner, said: “In a close election like this one even a couple of per cent can make a difference.”

Jews make up three per cent of the population in the Sunshine State, but because they vote in such high numbers, it is estimated that they make up six to eight per cent of the turnout.

While a majority of the Jewish electorate are Democrat – Mr Abrams estimates that just 25 per cent of Florida’s Jewish voters are registered Republicans – Dr Terri Fine, a political science professor at the University of Central Florida, said that Jews are likely to wield significant influence in the GOP race in Florida.

“I think the impact of Jewish voters is going to be large because they are a high-turnout group and this is an early primary,” said Dr Fine.

Mr Gingrich, a former House Speaker, has surged to front-runner position after winning in South Carolina.’

Jewish vote could swing it in Florida

  3. I thought he endorsed ‘The People’??
Best comment (totally inappropriate, but funny) was the first one on HotAir:
    “SERIAL ADULTERERS UNITE!”

  4. Newt and Herman did those Lincoln Douglas style debates and they seemed to get along swimmingly. Both were respectful of one another, and, when there were questions he didn’t know, Cain deferred to Gingrich. I am not surprised by this at all. Saw it coming all along.

  5. Who cares? He’s turned into a joke and has embarassed the Republican party. Sarah Palin and Herman Cain are desperate to be relevant, but they’re not. I’m tired of hearing from them.

  6. #3 sounds like a bill clinton supporter.

re He’s turned into a joke and has embarassed the Republican party

How so? Herman Cain is a fine man and so is Newt Gingrich. How is either a joke or embarrassment? Methinks the Republican Party has embarrassed itself by continually nominating losers like Dole and McCain, and trying it’s worst to nominate Romney..

  8. Thank You Herman!

  9. Gingrich/Cain 2012!!!

  10. Ah, #5 minus #3 = #2, and that’s what I think about your brainless statements. You are obviously indoctrinated by the media. The pathetic accusations against Cain were not proven and was a targeted campaign to get rid of Cain. Same tactics the left always uses and you twits fell for it. And Palin- another target of the corrupt, truthless left- how is she not relevant? Just more mouth vomit from people who don’t wish to be held accountable for their actions.

  11. Ditto !!! Gingrich/Cain 2012

  12. unless otherwise noted, we’re still hung up on allegations? i’ve heard this from dems also and have asked if there was some type of proof and got the typical “well no but”.
[The authors quote Reid as saying privately that Obama, as a black candidate, could be successful thanks, in part, to his "light-skinned" appearance and speaking patterns "with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one."] what it says about the dem base in a nutshell and i use it liberally when people attribute racism to anything other than stellar marks on the obama performance.

  13. i don’t think Cain endeared himself within the black community with his self-responsibility and democrat plantation spiel. the silence from that part of the peanut gallary….if we could take a step back in history if we will. a couple of stops i made had people more worked up about the “democrat plantation” thing than the black man harassing white woman angle..on a good day they would’ve hopped on it.

  14. so the repubs want to support adulterers?

  15. This election is becoming more and more the Tea Party v. the Republican establishment. As happened during the 2010 elections with Sharon Angle, etc. The lines have been drawn now. You have Palin, Giuliani, and Cain against Rove, Christie and Coulter. I believe it will be the people who decide this time; not the establishment or the MSM. I just hope that the voters are engaged and paying close attention. The BEST candidate is Newt hands down, but we will see. NEWT 2012

  16. Mr. 9 9 9 sucked too much energy out of the room for tow months. Why would I care about anything he has to say outside of pizza?

  17. cloey #5

You are correct Sarah Palin and Herman Cain are an embarrassment to the Republican and hanging on for the sake of their own celebrity.

  18. There is a theory that Gingrich doesn’t actually want to be president. According to that theory, he just wants to raise his speaking and consulting fees. If that’s true, then he will select Cain as his running mate and Obama will take 40 states.

  19. How many mistresses between the two of them?

    ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Clarify that. They are an embarrassment to the GOP Elites, not to the grassroots.

Why does the GOP Elite sound identical to the communists, smashing the entrepreneurial middle class?

Too much swish media fawning and flattery, sweet media gigs soften them? Making them deaf to the entreprenuerial class and the people they hire who now have no jobs, can’t heat their homes, even pay for school supplies for their kids? Do you know how many people are scrounging WOOD now for heat because they can’t afford an oil delivery, a propane delivery or the monthly electrical bill?

If you don’t know, then you don’t know what the Democrats are VICIOUSLY doing to this nation, at the household level through the middle class. The communists DO this. This is what they ARE.

WHY does the GOP enable THEM? Are they just life-long Democrat Bloombergs, just (R) for opportunitistic exploitation of a once good political name, then tearing people apart once in power?

  21. The plot is thickening……RINO John McCain endorsed Romney and Conservative Cain
backs Gingrich. The players are telling us boldly who they are – conservative or liberal RINO.

It couldn’t be clearer. Conservative voters remember all this when these people are up for
    reelection.

  22. I was going to post something about serial adulterers sticking together, but since others have already mentioned it, I won’t. Oh, wait… I just did.

It’s not a small or peripheral issue in my mind. Character does matter. If a man’s own wife can’t trust him, how are the rest of us supposed to believe what he says?

I was disgusted by this when Bill Clinton was on the national stage, and the same disgust applies to others, regardless of party affiliation.

  23. Makes sense they both treat women pretty much the same.

  24. So, all you folks whining about “adultery”…

If Newt gets the nomination, who will you vote for?

Gingrich or a failed president who was never vetted in the first place?

    Hmmmmmm?

  25. Jim hearts Newt!

  26. Watching Newt on the Sunday morning talk shows all a see is a nasty sack of Newt committing suicide. Pure negative Newt subtracting victory from the Republican Party.

  27. Cain still hasn’t realized that his ignorance of foreign policy issues was his real downfall. The womanizer accusations just made the headlines first.
Question for Cain: Should Newt have announced his plan to move the embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in a campaign speech or is it wiser to do some diplomatic groundwork first?

  28. Larkin, as I have stated repeatedly, whoever gets the “R” nomination will get my vote against Obama. It’s the biggest no-brainer in history, and the most important vote in my lifetime.

Also, I’m not “whining” about adultery. It’s a real issue, one not to be taken lightly. It shines a light on a man’s character. The issue lowers my opinion of Gingrich and Cain significantly, but no one could rank lower in overall character than our current Quisling-in-Chief.

Given the sad state of the “R” field, I am forced to vote for the lesser of evils, both in the primary and in November. That’s a valid way to vote, but not exceptionally pleasurable.

  29. do you people the supporters of bill clinton could legitimately condemn the behavior of either gignrich or cain? only if you let them.

  30. #33 should do you peope think

  31. Of course Cain supports Newt. Birds of a feather flock together. Herman has his own womanizing problems just like Newt. The confused right wingers will vote in the anti family values because they hate mormons just as much as they hate success.

  32. So Gingrich has secured the infidelity vote. Go figure.

    i respectfully disagree.. :-)

re: [when there were questions he
didn’t know, Cain deferred to Gingrich.]

as there were no questions asked that Cain could not answer..

the Cain deferment was to let Gingrich respond fist while he thought
through his response, same way Gingrich deferred to Cain to go first..
and not only that, they happen to have agreed with one another 95%
    on the issues discussed/debated..

btw, Cain also received the only “standing ovation” for more or less
putting the MSM in it’s place.. and both were spot on superb in their
knowledge as to what the problems are (moreso Newt), and how to
    solve them (moreso Herman)..

and here’s a flashback for you (in general, not specific).. Herman
Cain almost single handedly stopped the passage of HillaryCare,
so who could possibly want to bring that man to his knees?? /s/

re video info re: Thomas Sowell re: Newt Gingrich

[While the televised debates are what gave Newt Gingrich’s candidacy
a big boost, concrete accomplishments when in office are the real test.
Gingrich engineered the first Republican takeover of the House of
Representatives in 40 years — followed by the first balanced budget
in 40 years. The media called it “the Clinton surplus” but all spending
bills start in the House of Representatives, and Gingrich was Speaker
    of the House.

Speaker Gingrich also produced some long overdue welfare reforms,
despite howls from liberals that the poor would be devastated. But
nobody makes that claim any more.]

But my guess is Romney will continue to make noise about Rubio which is confusing to the base..

Everyone should read the Gulliani link.
