jhp, so what if Paul is leading? Iowa delegates are awarded proportionally. So if Paul takes even 30%, he winds up with 8 delegates. That’s a long, long way from the over 1,100 a candidate needs to take the nomination.
But with a Paul win in Iowa, it will only confirm what a lot of people have been saying that Iowa is only important in its own mind. And Iowa has a firm track record of picking losers.

Nice try. You wrote earlier that “we are a center left country” and then then when challenged on it by me (see #54), you completely ignored what I wrote and instead wrote a bunch of general statements about how the country can’t be conservative simply because there has been a dearth of conservative presidential candidates on the GOP ticket the past two election cycles. Well, part of that is because the conservative candidates end up pulling support from each other in the presidential primaries and more moderate candidates end up gaining the advantage. McCain won the nomination that way in 2008 and Romney probably will do the same in 2012, though both had/have troubles earning more than 25% support in the primaries, while the 3-5 more conservative candidates split a much higher percentage of primary voters.

But in response you toss out meaningless and vacuous comments, such as the population of the country when a huge number of the 310+ million American citizens aren’t even eligible to run for POTUS. Most of the posters on this site are laughable.. I have seen The Honorbale Dr Paul compared to every evil tyrant on the face of the earth.. The idea the Ron made “a millions” from these newsletters is also laughable.. Lets see the proof slap happy!!

And the “s” on the end was a typo as you can read from my full sentence in post #60 (“…earned around a million dollars a year”), as the revenue for Paul’s newsletter business was close to $1 million a year. As is written and cited on Paul’s Wikipedia page: “For 1992, RP&A earned $940,000 and employed Paul’s family as well as Lew Rockwell (its vice-president[54] and occasional editor)[55] and seven other workers.” Also, “Ron Paul & Associates (RP&A), Inc. was initiated during 1984 by Paul, who was its President. Lew Rockwell was its Vice President, Ron Paul’s wife Carol was Secretary, and Lori Pyeatt was the Treasurer. The company published a variety of newsletters. An article in Reason magazine, citing tax documents, said that it had revenues of more than $900,000 in 1993.[35]”
So, his newsletter business earns around $1 million a year in revenue but Paul doesn’t have any idea of the content being sent out in his name, with his signature on it? Sounds like the type of dishonest and disingenuous behavior one would expect from a dishonest politician … you know, the types you deranged Paul supporters claim to loathe and claim Paul is nothing like.

Let me explain. I know you’re used to the Paul movement where everyone just falls behind the crazy old coot with a cult-like level of motivation, but that doesn’t work when one is dealing with a diverse group, like conservatives, who don’t exhibit cult-like support for one chosen candidate every single presidential election.
The irony is how you’re disparaging conservatives for not nominating a conservative in 2008 or possibly in 2012, but Paulbots keep pushing Paul on the public every presidential election and he never wins a primary, much less the nomination. Of course, that’s apparently OK with you and other Paul supporters. However, the fact that the GOP doesn’t unite around one conservative as the party nominee means that the whole conservative movement is discounted or that the country isn’t a center-right country? Do you not see the hypocrisy or the stupidity of your point of view?
Conservatives may struggle with getting their preferred candidate at the top of the ticket every election cycle, including 2008, but that’s due largely to variety of conservative candidates compared to moderate candidates among the GOP candidates. Is it that difficult for you to understand?

I have noticed on some of the comments people believe the Iowa caucus are not important. Don’t believe that. The news media and establishment Republicans have run that lie up the flagpole because the wrong guy may win it.
