Oh goodie…
The Occupy St. Louis goons say they will not abandon their squatters camp qietly.
Great. When do we need to show up with our cameras?
StL Today reported:
If this morning’s events are any indicator, it looks increasingly unlikely that Occupy St. Louis protesters will leave their camp at downtown’s Kiener Plaza without a fight.
Friday, Mayor Francis Slay warned the group that it was violating several city laws. He said complaints were building and, with bad weather approaching and other events scheduled in the plaza this month, it was time for an end to the occupiers’ “tenure.”
The city’s parks department had even prepared a list of ordinance violations to present to the group.
But, this morning, Occupy St. Louis alleged that Slay’s announcement was just another instance where the city bent to corporate leaders. This time, said the unsigned statement on the Occupy St. Louis website, it was the Partnership for Downtown St. Louis who had swayed the mayor’s decisions.
“This week, Downtown Partnership met with the mayor’s office and told him to shut us down,” said the unsigned post. “He responded to their call.”
Maggie Campbell, president of the Partnership, did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment.
Furthermore, said the statement, the mayor hasn’t yet met with occupiers, Kiener plaza doesn’t stink of urine, as alleged, and the protesters “have done a remarkable job of maintaining a clean and orderly space.”
The statement ended with a list of city transgressions, and something of a threat:
“We have shared the Plaza with other groups on several occasions so far; it is everyone’s space and everyone is welcome,” it said. “On the other hand, a Macy’s display with the occupiers evicted might just be enough to convince many in the area to Occupy the Holidays by shopping only at smaller local businesses.”
Jeff Rainford, Slay’s chief of staff, refused to say if the city met with the Downtown Partnership last week, but insisted that the complaints are coming from many, not only the Partnership.

Hardly a squatter’s camp. When I drove by, it was just a bunch of folks holding signs.
Finncrisp commented:
Let’s just erect a fence with razor wire and keep them in. Safer for everyone near the plaza.
Since they want to stay there, then let them stay.

Send in a bulldozer. Or an Acme steamroller. Meep! Meep!

The only way this group is going to increase is if the payroll gets bigger. Crappy weather and the holidays ahead. Can’t see it getting much more than it is now without outside pay.
Ohio Granny commented:
These people have checking accounts. Just start billing them for the extra security costs, the clean up costs, the health department violations, etc. To say this isn’t an organization when they have a law firm, a PR firm, donations, food, tents, and in most cases, 501(c)3 or (c)4 status.
If this were Christians for Religious Freedom and Mangers on Main Street, they would have been booted long ago.
Enough Already commented:
It’s not like they are going to stay quietly either. Just pull the chain and flush them away. Personally, I’d go with one of those fire fighting foam machines. Just flood the park with foam, at least that would muffle the lousy drumming.

Better to get them out now while the group is small. Using the city’s electricity, not having insurance and not having a permit to stay at Kiener Plaza makes this unlawful. That is what the tea party was required to have to use the same space. How much will this cost the city of St. Louis if one of the protestors gets hurt and sues the city?
Ella commented:
They need some of those Portland head and body lice.
Bacon Bits commented:
I hope they use dogs! A good bite on the butt would convince these clowns to move on down the road.

Someday a real rain will come and wash all the scum off the streets…..
Black Sabbath commented:
Want to end this now? Fire hose. Temperature set to just above freezing.
No need to thank me, just trying to do my civic duty – since our elected leaders won’t.

Jim, Why don’t you get your good buddy Albert P. to take his bat down there and show them some of his greatest hits?

The merchants have rights to run their businesses without fear. The lice-heads have had their say. Now it’s back to what America does best when not restricted by Democrats: Work.

I was down there for the World Series parade and we walked past Keiner Plaza. There were tents and crappy old sofa’s around the plaza. The thing is, I think their numbers are much lower than they try to project. I walked past a lot of tents but not that many people visible. You would think with the hundreds of thousands downtown to cheer on the Cards they would want to put on a good show. I blame the mayor for this. Slay should have booted them after they erected the tents and dropped the sofas from their mom’s basements in the plaza. No matter what the size of these businesses complaining, they are owned by and employ people. These people pay taxes and are trying to make a go of it in a tough environment even sans these douches. Unfortunately the best strategy would be to ignore these fools and let them go on their way. Maybe hold some events else where in town that promote things like civic duty and building character in yourg people so they do not turn out like these sleazes.

Where is the 75th Ranger Regiment when you need them.

Why do you hate America? Why do you hate working families? Obama supports a two tier justice system. The GOP candidates think that outsourcing jobs is GOOD BUSINESS. Why do you stand with so called “conservatives” that are by definition attacking middle America?
Truth teller commented:
Morgan…why do you hate thinking? Why do you hate yourself?
Outsourcing jobs is the only option when UNION idiots demand to be paid wages far above the value they bring. Sorry, but screwing bumpers on cars is not worth $40 per hour.
The only group attacking Middle America are moron union members and Obama supporters.
Please wake the f up!

Whatever happened to the right to free expression and to assemble? Reading the comments here, it seems clear the readers of this site would like to see the Occupy movement fed to the lions or cast to the four winds. The laws they are violating (curfew in particular) violate the constitutional protections to a right to assemble. If you don’t agree with the message of the Occupy movement, then great, move on in your own life. But respect the fact that these folks are practicing their constitutional right to assemble.
Adi commented:
Nah.
Tell them there is a business nearby offering free food. They will disperse on their own will.
Problem solved.

Do you have any idea about the documents TP movement has to file before “the right to free expression and to assemble”?
Ofcourse not, after all you’re special. Just like the Endorser-in-Chief.
Rules don’t apply to you, since everyone knows you are an animal more special than others.
