GOP presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich received the endorsement of the influential editorial board of the New Hampshire Union Leader today providing a major boost to surging campaign.
“We are in critical need of the innovative, forward-looking strategy and positive leadership that Gingrich has shown he is capable of providing.”

I believe Newt would make a FABULOUS president. That said, the general election is (unfortunately) a popularity contest, and Newt does not have the type of demeanor that makes him a popular person.
New has it on the merits, but his grouchy pants attitude, his smugness, his poor body language and his old fashioned look-down-your-nose-at-people style, makes him seem like he has a superiority complex and these things are going to handicap him BIG TIME.
If he can keep the message and tweak his delivery he may make it. If he doesn’t change his delivery, he’ll go down like Bob Dole, who again, was a good guy, but was perceived as “the hatchet man”. If Newt gets the nomination and loses the election the Republican Party will disintegrate after that because many of us are tired of the old guard and the elites mucking things up. Newt is an old guard elite by any standard.

well said #2. I have always felt that Newts intangibles e.g. his snotty demeanor, cheshire cat countenance and general unlikability would be a huge problem for him. Look at the great candidates like Reagan and Clinton…they had a charm and likability that was very endearing and disarming.

The endorsement is good but it pales to what the piece “The Mother of All Political Endorsements: Sarah Palin’s” is predicting will come the way of Newt Gingrich – with the second runner up in Mitt Romney.
They say HERE that her endorsement is so definitive and important that it will come before the Iowa primary and that it will settle the race between Gingrich and Romney.

Depends on what you mean by amnesty. If you mean the Democrat definition where all illegals get instant citizenship and voting rights, then I agree with you, but if you mean Newt’s version where those here over 25 years get to stay legally without being citizens and no more anchor babies, then no, I don’t agree with you.

Fed Warns Unemployment May Double Great Depression

I warned last week that a recession and higher unemployment were about to hit the U.S. economy. On Tuesday, the Bureau of Economic Analysis cut their estimate of growth in the third quarter ending September from 2.5% to 2%. Then on Wednesday, the Federal Reserve rocked financial markets by forcing America’s 31 largest U.S. banks to “stress test” balance sheets to determine their capability to withstand an 8% drop in the economy; which would cause home prices to plunge by 21%, and unemployment rate to jump to 13%.

Newt may not be anyone’s choice but he is smart for talking immigration. If he is the candidate he will pick up many immigrant voters. Sorry but that was the idea behind his statements.
Seems everyone has an opinion good and bad about each of these candidates. These are the choices we have and endorsements may be wonderful but the American Voters will get the last word. We hate for the pundits and others to make up our mind for us. We want our opinions heard. This presidential election is so important and critical because Obama has no clue how to run this nation.
And other elections are just as important. Representatives in Washington, local elections and judges as we must remove the liberals from your community. Can’t stress enough the importance of them too.
So, get behind our candidate and stop the belly aching.

Poll: Ron Paul has best chance to defeat Obama
http://www.king5.com/news/politics/Poll-Ron-Paul-has-best-chance-to-defeat-Obama-133617503.html
SEATTLE – A nonscientific KING5.com – NWCN.com poll finds 40 percent of people think Ron Paul has the best chance among the remaining Republican presidential candidates to defeat Pres. Barack Obama next year.
Coming in second among the 5,775 who voted? Nobody. 26 percent of respondents said nobody in the field could stop Obama from winning a second term.
Sixteen percent said Mitt Romney could win, followed by Herman Cain at 7 percent.
Three percent said Newt Gingrich, 2 percent said Rick Perry and 1 percent said Michele Bachmann or Jon Huntsman.
Statistically, Rick Santorum won zero percent, although 19 people voted in favor of him.
Four percent said any one of the candidates could win.
The poll was conducted Wednesday morning through Thursday morning on the home pages of KING5.com and NWCN.com.

Rasmussen polls

For when you consider the fact that not only did Ron Paul come second in the negativity measure we mentioned above, but he actually came first as the candidate giving Obama his lowest vote. Obama only scored 39% against Ron Paul, but scored significantly higher against every other Republican in the poll. Now that is an amazing and very significant fact, for it shows that the public is rejecting the pablum and insanity of both Socialist parties, and flocking to the common sense Libertarian economics and Civil Rights which Jefferson and the Founders intended. The young people and Independents of America wanted change, and they got Obama. The young people and Independents of this election cycle desperately want change, and they will vote for Congressman Ron Paul.

The problem with Rick Perry is that he is not a quick thinker. Governing you don;t have to think quickly, just well. However, people often mistake slow thinkers for bad thinkers and fast thinkers for good thinkers.
The is never truer than in debates. Rick’s problem in debating Obama (quick thinker – bad thinker) is that he will make Perry (slow thinker – good thinker) look stupid in a debate format.

No thanks Newt..I’ll stick with the Governor from Texas with the conservative record.
“If that passage didn’t inspire a head palm moment, this will: Gingrich has also been on the wrong side of the “end-of-life-counseling” controversy. In 2009, he wrote another Washington Post column in which he echoed a refrain often heard from people who believe we should ration care to the elderly: “More than 20 percent of all Medicare spending occurs in the last two months of life.” Rationing advocates like Berwick typically bring this particular datum up to demonstrate how much money we can save by not providing expensive treatment to people who are soon going to die anyway. Oddly, they rarely mention the inconvenient fact that many people receive the same expensive treatments and live for far longer than two months, or even two years. Gingrich’s column also fails to note this reality….
…When these things become generally known, and the “news” media will assure that the word gets out, even his long history as a conservative leader will probably not render him immune from erosion in his support among rank-and-file Republicans, particularly the Tea Partiers. Even if Newt survives long enough to get the GOP nomination, he will have no more credibility on health reform than Mitt Romney. And, if he can’t go after the President on Obamacare, he will lose the election.”
