This isn’t good…
Just last week Governor Mitt Romney lectured Governor Rick Perry on his immigration record:

“You put in place a magnet to draw illegals into the state, which was giving $100,000 of tuition credit to illegals that come into this country, and then you have states — the big states of illegal immigrants are California and Florida.”

Here’s the video:

Now we find out that Romneycare funded healthcare for illegal immigrants… Just like Obamacare does. It was a magnate to draw illegals into the state.
The National Review reported:

Mitt Romney, who has called government-funded programs that offer assistance to illegal immigrants “magnets” that draw more illegal immigrants to the country, allowed a health-care program that helps illegal immigrations to be included in the final version of his health-care program that he signed. From the Los Angeles Times:

The Massachusetts healthcare law that then-Gov. Mitt Romney signed in 2006 includes a program known as the Health Safety Net, which allows undocumented immigrants to get needed medical care along with others who lack insurance.

Uninsured, poor immigrants can walk into a health clinic or hospital in the state and get publicly subsidized care at virtually no cost to them, regardless of their immigration status.

Related… In 2009 between 46,000 and 49,000 Massachusetts residents were fined under that state’s Romneycare law for not having health insurance, or for having a policy that did not include all the mandated coverages imposed by that law.

  10. Romney is just another big government establishment RINO. When asked what he would cut from the federal budget the moron proclaimed he’s cut $35 billion. LOL…$35 billion? That’s all that moron would cut? Hell we gave Pakistan $30 billion last year.

The fact is NOBODY knows if Obama’s Birth Certificate is real since Obama has done EVERYTHING humanly possible to keep the alleged Birth Certificate from being FORENSICALLY EXAMINED.

As many twenty computer and document experts have examined the PDF Copy of Obama’s alleged Birth Certificate and they have all declared it a likely forgery.

The Birth Certificate and Obama’s eligibility is EXTREMEMLY IMPORTANT. Any one who would try to minimise the significance of this is issue is an absolute MORON and a TRAITOR.

I explained my position by referencing the whole liberal Romneycare mess. Very timely, given Hoft’s post above.

  19. We are screwed.

  20. Romney is a light-skinned Obama-light.

  21. The only way illegals ought to get health care, thanks to the US, is with a one-way bus ticket to a mexican hospital. Let Mexico pay for treating their own people and those they helped breach our borders. And they should be charged for the bus ticket.

  22. We have a choice between two Governors. Who did the better job of running their state? Perry has Texas leading the nation, while Romney is trying to distance himself from his own policies while he was Governor of Mass.

  23. progressiveoverpeace, why do you assume ALL illegals are Mexicans? Isn’t that a bit uninformed on your part?

  24. #14 goat, the problem you have is you are assuming Romneycare only covered the federally mandated emergency care for illegals. It was much, much more than that. It gave illegals basically the same coverage, and the same ability to seek medical care at a private doctor’s office or a clinic, as was given to legal citizens. Those illegals were covered under Massachusset’s Health Care Safety Net program.

And when Romneycare was made solvent for the last two years due to a $764 million grant from the Obama Stimulus Bill, who do you think is really paying for Romneycare?

Simple answer: taxpayers from ALL 50 states.

  31. progressoverpeace, you SPECIFICALLY mentioned Mexico. So I have to wonder why you didn’t mention the other nations that we are seeing illegals come from.

But here is the deal; if you want other nations to be responsible for the cost of health care for their citizens that come across our borders illegally, I suggest you file a law suit to enact laws that would not only do that, but overturn the SCOTUS decision that says health care providers cannot deny emergency care to illegals.

Let us know how you progress on this issue.

  38. Romneycare takes federal tax dollars so we all pay for clinic care for illegals mandated in Romneycare and we all pay for emergency room care for illegals & those that can’t pay mandated under Reagan.

Romney blames successor for illegal immigrant health care

["Mitt Romney's record on illegal immigration is clear: as governor, he vetoed an in-state tuition bill for illegal immigrants and authorized his state troopers to detain people based on their immigration status. On the other hand, liberal Gov. Patrick has the same position on illegal immigration as Rick Perry – he favors in-state tuition and reversed an executive order to detain illegal immigrants – and neither can be trusted to deal with such an important issue," added Saul.

“He can pin the tail on the donkey and basically say ‘Romneycare’ was
‘Obamacare,’ ” said Dr. Ron Anderson, the president and chief executive
of Parkland Health and Hospital System, Dallas’s public hospital and its
main health care provider to the poor. “The truth is, they both need to
be tweaked and improved. But we can’t tout the Texas model. At least
    Romney tried.”]

private health coverage significantly in Texas, where today an estimated
    6.2 million people - one-quarter of the state’s population - are
    uninsured, including 1.3 million children.]

surely these uninsured go to emergency rooms and

There are limits to the amount of typing I’m going to do for a blog comment. There was nothing wrong with what I wrote. Mexico has had a national policy of helping and encouraging anyone and everyone to criminally violate our borders and squat in our country. Mexico had the unmitigated gall to actually sue one of our states for our own enforcement of our own laws on our sovereign territory (Barky should be impeached for his part of that whole scene) … and the Mexican president actually came to our Congress and bad mouthed the US. The Mexican president?!? For that, they can be sent ALL the illegals and deal with them. And the punishment for the non-Mexican illegals is to be stuck in Mexico, especially in a Mexican hospital. You don’t get to break into the US and then dictate where you are shipped to.

BTW, it’s “progress”, not “progressive”. Were you reading my comment the same way you were reading my screename?

  49. The Romney hate is strong here Jim…I hope you know what you are doing. What’s plan B? Cain, Perry, or will Palin swoop in to steal the nomination in a floor vote at the convention…Pretty sure the pizza man is a good man but he has already hit a wall with the 999 plan, i.e. he’s already making concessions for the poor. Well, that’s why we have 48% paying no federal income taxes now because we keep making concessions for the poor…Now Perry. He doesn’t seem to be quick enough on his feet to impress most Republicans. How do you think he is going to impress democrats? And Palin, I won’t even go there…Let’s just say that her name is used often for rhetorical effect…Again, what’s plan B because the Romney trashing is having an effect with conservative bloggers which will spread to the general public.

  50. OK, now. Why didn’t any of the other GOP candidates bring this up during last week’s CNN debate? What in the aych ee el el were the candidate’s staffs doing instead of scouring RomneyCare for all it’s flaws?

  54. Romneycare…Let’s see. I would like to see all 50 states put their plans in place. The best models will become clear and other states can follow. GOP presidential hopeful Herman Cain here
    raising money, explaining 9-9-9 plan

[Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain, in Chicago Monday for a series of fund-raisers, claimed nothing had changed in his signature 9-9-9 economic plan despite his campaign recently touting a 9-0-9 option for America’s poor.

“Listen carefully — 9-9-9 has always been the plan and if they read the analysis we always had a provision in terms of dollars for those at or below the poverty line,” Cain said after leaving a lunchtime event at Morton’s The Steakhouse, where tickets cost a minimum of $500. “It is not a new addition to 9-9-9. People simply didn’t read the analysis.”]

    Amen Herman..

it’s a “sound bite” world these days..

seems like fewer & fewer people seem to really know what they’re
