Michelle Obama listed daughters Malia and Sasha as “senior staffers” to justify her $432,142 getaway to Africa.

Washington Whispers reported on the African trip.
First lady Michelle Obama’s family trip to South Africa and Botswana in June cost taxpayers well over $424,000, according to new accounting based on Air Force manifests obtained by Judicial Watch, a taxpayer watchdog group.
The use of Air Force aircraft alone for the June 21-27 trip cost $424,142, said the group, and that doesn’t include the food, lodging, and ground transportation for the 21 family and staff members.
The daughters were listed as senior staff.
Defend this fraud, liberal media. We’re waiting.

The two girls are listed as “Senior Staff.” The manifests also list Mrs. Obama’s mother, Marian Robinson, and niece and nephew, Leslie and Avery Robinson, as well Mrs. Obama’s makeup and hairstylist (Carl Ray and Johnny Wright).

Consider also what just happened in a federal court in Texas. A Dallas business owner was involved in a civil dispute and paid millions of dollars to lawyers, and when he objected to their fees, they had a “friendly” judge seize all of his property, without any notice or hearing, and essentially ordered him to be an involuntary servant to the lawyers. The business owner has been under this “servant” order for 10 months and is prohibited from owning any possessions, prohibited from working, etc…

I thought overseas travel of relatives that is reimbursed by an employer is considered a taxable benefit by the IRS.
I thought companies have to “plus up” to pay those additional taxes or else the employee incurs a substantial tax burden.

It looks to me as though this is yet another failed, uninformed attempt to create an anti-Obama controversy from whole cloth. The manifest, which lists the Obama daughters as “Senior Staff,” appears to be an indication where on the aircraft the various occupants are located. It does not at all seem to be an attempt to “sneak” the daughters aboard as staff in a non-paying status.
You teabaggers are gonna have to try harder than this.

Yep. Having had to report that sort of thing as income. That’s true.
But that’s when the benefit is expressly meant for that purpose, too. Like getting education tuition assistance – a common benefit for overseas expatriates – to eligible children. If this is verifiable, then Michelle defrauded the USG when she dodged paying for her kids/and possibly the other relatives by naming them on the travel authorization as “staff.”
This is just the tip of the iceberg, too. The White House entertainment budget is expressly meant for hosting government-related dignitaries for dilomatic purposes, a work duty meant for USG benefit, not a free private shows for the Obama family and their peeps. It has been blown past alpha centuri, and the excuse for sticking the bill to the taxpayers for all those A list singers is “Lifetime Achievement Award.”

Laura Bush was also a frequent flier who often brought her daughters along for the ride.

No wonder we had to sue to pry loose this information.’

To me this does not point out position of seating but rather the fact that this was supposed to be a business trip since their isnt seating listed for “family”. There is seating for senior staff, staff, and press. if it was meant to be a vacation then they wouldnt have to hide the kids/outside family in the crew.

It is a good thing that Obama can’t serve more than 2 terms otherwise we will fast follow the footsteps of places like Zimbabwe, Egypt, Libya and other African countries with their 30+ year dictatorship countries, rampant crime, over taxed citizens and impoverished communities. He has trashed and bankrupted the US in the almost 3 years he has been president, imagine what he could do as a lifetime president! God Bless the USA and thank God we have a different constitution to those other places in Africa.

If they did thats one more reason , to vote in 2012…..But This will never make the news…..it will be covered up! Initially, I started to read what you had to say, because my question was to see how previous administrations had handled these types of trips with their children/family, but then I realized that you are just a Bush blamer and hater and it cancels out, as far as I am concerned any genuine intent to explain what is being discussed.
