Horrible. Barack Obama bashed Bush and pushed “change” and redistribution of wealth during his speech today at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial. What could have been a unifying moment turned into a campaign speech.
Nice work, Barack.

Obama has the worst jobs record since the Great Depression. Black unemployment is at crisis levels. He forgot to mention that. He also forgot to mention that wages have gone down during his years in office. Instead he blamed Bush for his problems.

Here is the transcript:

Nearly 50 years after the March on Washington, our work, Dr. King’s work, is not yet complete. We gather here at a moment of great challenge and great change. In the first decade of this new century, we have been tested by war and by tragedy; by an economic crisis and its aftermath that has left millions out of work, and poverty on the rise, and millions more just struggling to get by. Indeed, even before this crisis struck, we had endured a decade of rising inequality and stagnant wages. In too many troubled neighborhoods across the country, the conditions of our poorest citizens appear little changed from what existed 50 years ago -– neighborhoods with underfunded schools and broken-down slums, inadequate health care, constant violence, neighborhoods in which too many young people grow up with little hope and few prospects for the future.

Our work is not done. And so on this day, in which we celebrate a man and a movement that did so much for this country, let us draw strength from those earlier struggles. First and foremost, let us remember that change has never been quick. Change has never been simple, or without controversy. Change depends on persistence. Change requires determination. It took a full decade before the moral guidance of Brown v. Board of Education was translated into the enforcement measures of the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act, but those 10 long years did not lead Dr. King to give up. He kept on pushing, he kept on speaking, he kept on marching until change finally came. (Applause.)

And then when, even after the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act passed, African Americans still found themselves trapped in pockets of poverty across the country, Dr. King didn’t say those laws were a failure; he didn’t say this is too hard; he didn’t say, let’s settle for what we got and go home. Instead he said, let’s take those victories and broaden our mission to achieve not just civil and political equality but also economic justice; let’s fight for a living wage and better schools and jobs for all who are willing to work. In other words, when met with hardship, when confronting disappointment, Dr. King refused to accept what he called the “isness” of today. He kept pushing towards the “oughtness” of tomorrow…

  1. The campaign speech is no surprise. What IS a bit of a surprise is that he is still trying to get away with bashing President Bush . . . . sorry, this isn’t January 23, 2009. He owns this mess.

  2. Of course he turned it into a campaign speech–that’s all he knows how to do is campaign–he is a lying traitor to his oath and our country. IMO–MLK is cringing in grave at the thought of BHO speaking at the opening of his memorial today. You want to talk about polar opposites–look no further than MLK and BHO!

  3. Of course. You expected anything else?

  4. This puke is a disgrace to decency and the country. His riddance cannot come fast enough.

  5. On a daily basis the Oblame train wreck speaks more like the third world tinpot dictator he has always been. What a truly clueless 53% confederation of fools elected the waste that is Obamao.

  6. Blacks and their hero’s. WGAS really? Not me.

  7. Doesn’t he realize that most of the problems he highlighted have been there for 50 years and thru the war on poverty, etc…. It hasn’ worked. He didn’t mention the role of the family, personal responsibility, etec. Perhaps Herman Cain or Cosby should have given this speech, they know and recognize the problems and the answers to those problems.

  8. I wish I wouldn’t have wasted 3 minutes and 5 seconds of my life watching that despicable excuse of a human talking like he is down for the struggle.

I was 9 years old when MLK Jr. was murdered.

But through his speeches never did I hear through his words that he expected government to make a black person’s life better than by giving them more welfare.

I always thought and still do think that MLK Jr. was fighting for black people to be seen as equal in schools, at lunch counters, not to be turned away from being hired for a job because of the color of their skin, to be able to attend college, etc.

For Hussein to use MLK Jr. for his own “change” and to kick Bush some more because of Iraq and Afghanistan when Hussein has kept our soldiers fighting in both countries in addition to the 3 wars he has sent our guys into is absolutely vile.

  9. You also “change” a diaper when it’s dirty.

  10. He affects his best Black accent for the occasion.

  11. It took so long for civil rights legislation to be enacted due the obstructionism of the democrats who fiercely blocked it (Al Gore’s father, Bill Clinton’s mentor, Robert (KKK) Byrd, et al).

Pockets of poverty remained decades later because the democrats controlled Congress for 40 years and passed laws that punished fathers, desecrated intact families, and demanded dependence upon the government.

The good news is millions recognize these facts.

  12. Perhaps BO could ask the King family why they outsourced the design and carving of the statue to China? And why it looks like Mao??
and why they demanded over $800k to use MLK likeness for the memorial???

  13. As far as I know, ML King lived and died in the Party of Lincoln, the Republican Party. I don;t think he was ever a Democrat.

  14. Socialism and Communism need Capitalism to pay for them, never forget that.

  15. #13 – He was a republican, never a democrat.

  16. A Must Read

  17. Turned the channel when he came on and refused to listen to this video. The constant lies that he is sprewing is plain and simple BRAIN WASHING and it is working! Pelosi, Reid, Durban, Kennedy, Burtha, Kerry, the black cacus, Clintons, etc, has been doing it for years.

  18. Obama has it right in one respect–Bush is his problem…and every president who came before the Zero.

He is stupid to invite comparisons.

Obama is the worst president ever.

  19. He can’t help himself. That’s why I didn’t even waste my time watching this jerk.

  20. Goes to show the content of 0bama’s character is lacking.
