The Oakland police department reviewed video of the rioting leftists in Oakland on Wednesday night and said Marine-hating Jew-Basher Scott Olsen may have been hit by something thrown by the crowd.
What a shocker.

Here is some background info on Oakland PD and the Mayor, who is actually milking it for all it’s worth.
The Police Chief of Oakland PD had been in a contentious political tug-of war with Mayor Quan, and he finally gave his 30 day notice to get out. That was 2 weeks ago.
He resigned after 2 yr on the job. The chief before him also resigned after about 2 yrs on the job.
Oakland City Council under Jerry Brown Ron Dellums and now Jean Quan has been anti-police and pro-criminals , always, remember this is VanJones-Nlack Panthers-Black Muslim Bakery territory.
The situation in OccupyOakland encampment was deteriorating fast and the Mayor was on their side so much so that she condoned crime , violence and health hazards to the general population in her bid to support marxist revolution.
This week when Mayor was in DC , the police had to move in to enforce sanity , but they ended up in a trap the marxist organizers had laid for them. After her return from DC, Quan has apologized to the criminals and vandals and basically stabbed the PD for doing their job.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the investigation of this police action ( so called) on a Jew-hating anti-American Marine ends up blaming the cops .
That City Council has some die-hard police haters in it and they have been known to do anything to aid crime and criminals in Oakland.

IIRC, a few weeks ago, Van Jones gave a speech in DC, ( I think) about #OWS, it was on C-Span. I didn’t watch it from the start and also I was a little busy with other stuff, but I very clearly remember his audience cheering wildly when he said something to the effect that he has Marines in blue ready to go to take the #OWS to the next level . Jones repeated that plan about Marines a few times, and the audience gave him an ovation. He said it with his usual smirk and I remember thinking

an astute observer might ask why there are NO photos or video of protesters throwing anything at the police. anyone can claim that they saw, but that hardly makes it true. every scene from every Occupy shows most people with cameras, so where are the photos protesters starting violence?
there are numerous videos out there showing that what the police claim is protesters with firecrackers is most certainly police using flashbangs. watch a few of the videos and ask yourself if you have ever heard fireworks like that.

What fascinates is the amount of diversity among these protesters. I live in a city with the highest rate of PHDs per-capita in the US, and a majority of the populace here seems very much interested in the events unfolding in Oakland (a lot of us just don’t like drum circles.) I’m not saying they’re in the right or not, but there cannot be forward movement without some semblance of change.
Everyone agrees that where we are now isn’t so hot, but the indecision lies in the ability to remedy the situation. The occupy wall street movement, as well as the tea party movement, exist (to my knowledge) because people are pissed off at how things are being handled. You’ve simply got different sociological dynamics to look at, as grounds for how they voice their concerns. And both groups have some profound flaws. I highly doubt members of the tea party would attempt to shelter homeless people who happened upon their protest camps. Nor do I agree with public pot smoking in front of children, and guys who say ‘yaknow maaaaan’ after every semi-profound statement.
But when you enter into an article with the statement “Marine-hating Jew-Basher Scott Olsen” you set yourself up to look a fool, and for all your statements and deductions, as well as those who side with them, to appear equally foolish. People who lack the foresight to think critically and withhold judgement are plentiful on the internet, and I worry that this form of assessment will become the norm for our populace.
It is simply a matter of time before all this boils over and we see who the true patriots are. Which of the regular citizens will display the courage, fortitude, logical thought and impartial judgement that the founders of this nation had envisioned? I can only hope that said people exist, or we truly are doomed to failure…

Critical thinking is simply that, the ability to take a step back and look at what is so, without bias, without judgement. I cannot do it, you clearly cannot do it, but we must at least try, especially if we share the beliefs of this country’s founders…

Uhhh, George, there’s a link in the story above that explains the words “Marine-hating Jew basher”. The link shows that Scott Olsen founded “I Hate the Marines Corps.com” and the same link also includes a profoundly antisemitic slur. By his own actions and admissions, he can legitimately be characterised as a “Marine-hating Jew-basher.”
This site is not operated under New York Times rules: it operates under small-town newspaper rules. That is, we do not tolerate accusations of malfeasance absent some sort of reference to show that it has a basis other than some writer’s fevered imagination. If you don’t understand the source of an accusation of malfeasance, you can always ask for a cite.

Critical thinking does not mean to step back and look without bias. Critical thinking means to ask common sense questions and to tap into what we know of the real world and how it operates. You incorrectly assume that just because someone sees a person as an individual that this automatically absolves them of the responsibility of being a GOOD individual. Your lack of critical thinking skills… and your LIBERAL bias is showing in that you want to put everyone on an equal playing field. But critical thinking teaches us that everyone is NOT equal. While we should all have equal opportunities to pursue happiness… emphasis on PURSUE… since we are NOT TO BE GUARANTEED happiness… this constitutional concept was never meant to be interpreted that we are ALL EQUAL. This is a LIBERAL MYTH.
But I digress, to get back to your point about seeing the scum marine as an individual… your words imply that he is without flaw as an individual. NOT TRUE. Another problem LIBERALS have is admitting that GOOD and EVIL do exist. And I have no problem seeing an individual and recognizing when they are evil or good. The difference between you and me is that you see evil… don’t know how to recognize it… and then apply it to the collective. Example… you hear a story about Bernie Madoff and then decry that all RICH are EVIL — so don’t lecture us on the meaning of individualism vs. collectivism. We know the difference. You apparently do not.

Not legitimately, dear. “Marine hating jew basher” is the manipulation of said cites to suit the author’s bias. However, now that I actually take the time to look back on your “headlines,” I see this to be a recurring theme. This, sadly, doesn’t even qualify as a smalltown newspaper, as even they seem to hold at least some form of impartial reporting (they aren’t free of it, of course.) Every title is dripping with sarcasm, and worded to stir up anger with undeniable “proof” that all things liberal will doom us all.
It would appear that I have come to a witch hunt seeking conversation. I suppose this is why people don’t talk politics these days. I shall leave y’all to brood in your corner of the webverse.

I’ve been on both sides George. I used to be a Liberal all my life and Obama is like the drug L-dopa… he woke me from my Liberal coma. I can see the truth all too clearly now. And I discovered a funny thing along the paradigm shift. I discovered the liberal belief that conservatives were misinformed bigots was the REAL LIE… and that as a liberal… I was the one projecting my own flaws onto the collective group of conservatives. The REAL TRUTH was that as a Liberal… I was the misinformed bigot… not the conservatives.
When I took the time to open my mind and to really be “liberal-minded” as I claimed to be, I discovered a funny thing… the real liberal-minds were the conservatives. Conservatives have all the best ideas… and they are right… I was wrong. I am now a proud conservative.

Much is being made of Scott Olsen being a Marine. At the demonstration, however, Scott Olsen was just another protester without any identifiable USMC affiliation. The police are being imputed with firing upon Olsen because he’s a decorated Marine, Iraq War veteran. I think the evidence against that assertion is the full blue uniformed able-bodied Navy seaman standing next to Olsen in front of the police line who is conspicuously not targeted by the police and remained standing, unmolested throughout the incident.
