Speaker John Boehner rejected Obama’s class warfare tax the rich plan yesterday. He told a group of supporters at an Ohio luncheon,
“Giving the federal government more money would be like giving a cocaine addict more cocaine.”
True.
Boehner visited Cincinnati yesterday.
The Republic reported:
U.S. House Speaker John Boehner said Monday he agrees with President Barack Obama that everyone should pay their fair share of taxes, but that “class warfare” and higher taxes won’t solve the nation’s economic problems.
The Ohio Republican spoke to a business group luncheon at the University of Cincinnati less than two hours after Obama detailed a deficit reduction plan that includes higher taxes for wealthy Americans.
“I understand that it’s easy to go out there and talk about taxing billionaires,” Boehner said, but he said “class warfare isn’t leadership” and the big need is to get people back to work amid a 9.1 percent unemployment rate.
“At a time when spending is out of control, giving the federal government more money would be like giving a cocaine addict more cocaine,” he said.
Boehner said he supports a “fairer and flatter” tax code that eliminates loopholes.
So who will be the first lib to cry racism over these comments? You know it’s coming.

Obama set out from day one to divide this nation along racial lines and has done an excellent
job of that and now he is making sure he is dividing along class lines.
My wife and I thought we were doing kind of good for a couple of seniors until we were told
we were living in abject poverty and way below the poverty level. Maybe that’s because we
haven’t had a raise in our social security since Mr. Bush left office!

Well, Toonces did say that he had a taste for cocaine and other drugs when he was younger and ashamed of his white half. Relapse maybe? The thing about most addicts is that they may win against one addiction, but oftentimes substitute another addiction in it’s place. In this case it’s other peoples money. Good call on Boehners part.

The Speaker’s measured words are a good point to start. The ranting and finger pointing from our most recent Marxist president is not helping anything. Politicizing misery never works. It comes across phoney and condescending – which is exactly how the Dear leader is sounding these days.

Good point. We’ve already heard talk of primaryinf Toonces, the “he’s suffering from clinical depression” talk and there is an awful lot of whispers of Hillary in the background. Be wary people, be wary.

He’s absolutely right. The more you give them the more they’ll want. And they’ll mug you for it.
For a leading Congressman to make this statement is a sign of hope and change.

It’s not just disillusionment with a person. We did the experiment, in a big way. It didn’t work.

The disillusionment with the person is grounded in failure of the policies.

Maybe Bohner knows something we don’t, and is illuding to Obama’s current
state of intoxication, and is even further unfit to hold the office.
powder is dry and Obama is not.

Too late Tears. Taxes are going to go up or the DOD is going to get gashed thanks to your debt deal.

….And, could we just get rid of that tired lie that secretaries pay more than their bosses? Not true, any way you look at it: not by relative rates, or by dollars.

Was it just me or did the mental case POTUS yesterday actually make an argument for a flat or fair tax?
He’s all about Alinsky chaos but that speech could have been used to institute either new tax system.

Good comments…Yesterday, it seemed most coverage that I saw of Obamao was paired with Boehner’s words. So, if the speaker can keep it succinct and strong, it’ll be beneficial, and then the ‘pubs views will have a chance to prevail.

Here’s a quick refresher for President Obama on the devastating impact tax hikes will have on jobs and the economy, courtesy of President Obama:
Higher Taxes “Will Have the Effect of Fewer Jobs.” “US President Barack Obama on Thursday urged Congress to pass the tax deal he brokered with Republican foes, saying rejecting the compromise would hurt the economy and cost US jobs. … ‘[I]f this framework fails, the reverse is true. Americans will see it in smaller paychecks that will have the effect of fewer jobs,’ he said.” (AFP, 12/9/10)
President Obama Said He Was “Absolutely Convinced” That Preventing Tax Hikes Would Grow the Economy and Create Jobs. President Obama: “I am absolutely convinced that this tax cut plan, while not perfect, will help grow our economy and create jobs in the private sector. … I urge members of Congress to pass these tax cuts as swiftly as possible. Getting that done is an essential ingredient in spurring economic growth over the short run.” (Remarks, 12/15/10)
President Obama Argues for Tax Relief, Not Tax Hikes: “By a wide bipartisan margin, both houses of Congress have now passed a package of tax relief that will protect the middle class, that will grow our economy and will create jobs for the American people.” (Remarks, 12/17/10)
President Obama Said Preventing Tax Hikes Would “Spur Hiring” and “Strengthen Our Entire Economy.” President Obama: “All told, this will not only directly help families and businesses. By putting more money in people’s pockets, and helping companies grow, we’re going to see people being able to spend a little more, we’re going to spur hiring – we’re going to strengthen our entire economy.” (Weekly Address, 12/11/10)

I am from Missouri, and Washington is going to have to show me. PROVE that they can generate extra cash through cuts and put back every last blessed cent into deficit reduction. Do this a couple of times with big money just to prove you can and *then* you can come to me with your hand out to *fix* the deficit problem. The vast majority of politicians in Washington are indeed addicts still in the denial stage. Increased revenue will just make the problem worse at this stage by enabling them.
Jim you need to get on this, this is some of the clearest, best congressional testimony I have ever heard, Peter Schiff is incredible:
