FOX News reported:
A 23-year-old Navy sailor was attacked on his way to training Saturday morning in Orange County, Fla., his family told MyFoxOrlando.
Robert Turritto was beaten so badly he will need reconstructive surgery.
“His eyes were closed, he’s got a broken nose, his face is double in size, the navy said they’re going to need to do reconstruction on,” Dennis Bugey, Turritto’s dad told MyFoxOrlando.
Turrito was allegedly beaten by two men – believed to be Hispanic, around 6:00 a.m. Saturday morning while riding his bike to the Wilson Reserve Center while wearing his Navy physical fitness uniform.
According to Turritto’s parents, he’s been in the navy reserves for three-years – and almost always rides his bike to train in the morning.
His attackers took his bike, his wallet and his cell-phone after the brutal beating.
“The navy already cancelled his credit union cards,” Bugey said Saturday from their Orlando home.
Turrito is home from the hospital but will be out of commission and unable to serve for awhile.
“It’s sad when a guy like that cant even get to work to serve us, instead he becomes a victim of crime,” said Bugey, who has four children in the military.
