Rep. Michael Burgess (R-TX) called for Obama’s impeachment this week. Burgess said, “The longer we allow the damage to continue unchecked, the worse things are going to be for us.”
True.
The Politico reported:

Impeaching President Barack Obama “needs to happen,” Rep. Michael Burgess (R-Texas) told a local tea party group, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported Tuesday.

Burgess spoke, the paper said, in response to an attendee’s suggestion that the GOP-controlled House use impeachment to stop Obama from “pushing his agenda.”

“It needs to happen, and I agree with you it would tie things up,” Burgess reportedly responded. “No question about that.”

When the Star-Telegram’s reporter asked Burgess about the comment, he said the House needs to do what it can to stop the president.

“We need to tie things up,” Burgess said. “The longer we allow the damage to continue unchecked, the worse things are going to be for us.”
Burgess, an obstetrician who is in his fifth term as a lawmaker, is the latest House Republican to call for the president’s impeachment. Last month, Iowa Rep. Steve King said Obama “would be impeached” if he allowed the nation to default.

  1. I can’t believe they have let it go this far. They can start at the Hawaii Dept. of Health before moving on to Gunrunner, etc. It’s amazing how many weak R’s are letting this country go down the drain.

  2. what the fukk took you so long????? one can only hope it will happen

  3. We don’t want to go there. (Well we do, but it would be a disaster.)

An impeachment attempt would play into the Enemy’s hands. It could even get The Obamanation re-elected. We made such a fiasco of the last attempt, it would make us look like fools.

The only way an impeachment attempt could succeed, would be for it to be led by the Democrats.

Turn the bum (sorry for insulting bums) out as the laughingstock he is.

  4. Sooner or later I knew this would start. And it should.

If he was white they would have started this long ago.

That is the honest to God truth.

  5. Let’s all leave this right here. The good Congressman’s speech was enough.
Shoot! I don’t want to make Obama a sympathetic figure.
Besides, the Senate would turn it all into a circus.

  6. Incompetence is not a high crime or misdemeanor. Thus not an impeachable offense.

Anyway, impeachment proceedings would be a colossal waste of time–no matter how tempting it is to think of essentially disabling the House and Senate for a few months.

Better to leave this naked emperor right where he is for the next 17 months, forcing the Democrats to continually find new and increasingly preposterous ways to pretend he is fully-clothed.

  7. I find it interesting that Bernanke will not raise interest rates until 2013 and it appears that Obama is not at all interested in the S&P downgrade. Seems that the hair shirt Obama was wearing yesterday is now in the wash and Obama is in full campaign mode.

To to Hell with the country. Its time to destroy Romney and run as a newly minted hero of a damaged nation.

  8. E-mail me, Burgess. I’ve already drawn up the articles.

  9. I agree with Mannie, we don’t want to go there. For the first time Obama is looking beatable but proceeding with an impeachment would play right intonthe hands of Obama. Lets just pray that the house will be able to stem the tide till 2012

  10. Boy, oh boy, is violentflashmobs.com going to be BUSY if this happens!!

    #6 John Fembup

So true. We NEED those 17 months, just to prepare for the inevitable burning and looting, raping and pillaging, killing and destroying that is sure to follow an Obama loss in November of 2012.

Do I sound like I’m being sarcastic?

    I’M NOT.

  11. The President is not incompetent, his decisions and actions are planned. That in itself makes him guilty of Treason. Can this Country really hold on until the Elections? The “O” needs to go now!

  12. The whole notion is just silly – it ain’t gonna happen and God save us if it did. Can you imagine a President Biden?

Even the dems couldn’t get that far out.

    …Lee

  13. Every Republican and conservative representative needs to get a call from everyone on this site who reads this article!!! I have been calling my Congressman and Senator to do exactly that. We’d have a year and three months to do it. I forget how long it took for Clinton to get empeached, but it didn’t take a real long time, did it? We could stop him from running also because he couldn’t run for President when he is being empeached for being President!! He could not run for any office until he was found not guilty of the charges against him. That’s like some state representatives we’ve heard about who were running for office and had to pull out because they were being investigated for some crime. They could not be in office and be in jail at the same time.

I hope this takes off and representatives go after him. You know Reid would be all over this!! He would run down every news crew he could find to tell the American people Obamas’ done nothing and all this is, is a political stunt!! Then we would go after Reid.

Damn, I wish our forefathers had put something in the Constitution that would allow us to empeach a Senator or Congressman. You can’t recall them or nothing. It all has to be done in the House or the Senate, and the President has the authority to do something to. I know he can empeach the Supreme Court justices, but I’d have to look up the rest of what he can do. But if he was being empeached he couldn’t do anything while the investigation was going on. But it wouldn’t stop the Democrats from running another Socialist to run for the office. Not that they’d be running against Obama, but would be running for the office just to keep it Democrat.

    Yeah, empeach his butt!!

This used to be the call of the American president to make statements such as Turkey and Saudia Arabia are making, but Obama is too busy partying, playing golf, and campaigning.

  16. It ain’t going to happen. Not many have ba*lls.

  17. Also need congress to investigate Soros.

  18. Just ask for his BC, school records and passport.

    Game over seya bye bye.

Flash mob all ya want. Target practice grand scale.

  19. As much as we might want impeachment, and yes, Comrade Dear Leader is a traitor, it simply won’t happen. It would be far better to loudly and oftenhammer away at his orchestrated assault on American society, his record, his defiance of the Constitution, his nasty rhetoric and lies, his associations, his lack of transparency, his meddling in the politics of other nations, etc., etc., etc.

The GOP and the conservative candidates for president MUST stop being so nice and respectful and take the gloves off. We do not want another McRINO.

  20. Only problem with Romney is he is nothing more than a A$$ in a Pachyderm Suit. And, worst part of the good old boy school of politics.

  21. Dennis Kucinich started the impeachment talk about Obama when he declared war on Libya. Burgess is my Rep and I will be attending a Town Hall tonight! Gonna ask about Fast and Furious. I do agree with Ozark Lee, this is notagonnahappen. O back to 40 on Gallup today, it is all gonna take care of itself!

  22. This is just blowing in the wind. An impeachment will never get past the democrat controlled senate.

  23. Well, just DO it…………impeach the idiot.

  25. It’s a beautiful thought but a waste of time, energy, and money better used to throw the bum out in 2012 if we get to have an election. Impeachment proceedings would only lead to rioting that gives oby the opportunity to issue marshal law-suspend elections-and disarm America. It’s part of his “plan” I think, at least a possibility for him to take total control and reduce America to a chaotic socialist dictatorship.

  26. Impeachment? There is just cause but will never happen. I say we send him to London and try to talk to the youts there to try to quell the rioting. (without SS of course)

  27. While probably not likely, even WTF has a limit to resources to this type of event, trying to run a campaign, looking for cover from the up and coming S & P fiasco, Gun Walker, Geithner’s ineptness, Department of Justice issues, just how many pokers in the fire can this fake handle? His administration has run a full scale attack on America on every aspect of our lives, maybe its time to return the favor.

  28. Rep. Dan Burton: The danger of underestimating Obama: Disastrous policies are intentional steps on road to socialism
    http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2011/aug/8/the-danger-of-underestimating-obama/

It is a cardinal mistake in any competition, be it sports or politics – and politics is a competition of ideas – to underestimate your opponent. All too often, underestimating your opponent leads to disaster. I believe that America, especially America’s political class, is vastly underestimating President Obama; and if we continue to do so, it will be a disaster for America. Specifically, I am worried about the growing political story line that the Obama administration is “failing” because they are just inexperienced and the president is simply “in over his head.”

    =snip=

It is not yet too late to save America from financial ruin nor is it too late to save the American way of life. But to confront these threats, we must confront reality and that means we must stop viewing the president’s policies as the innocent missteps of a man who is “in over his head.” The president is not in over his head; he knows precisely what he is doing: rushing America down the path toward socialism.

What I’m saying is, even this ONE THING: the forging of an official legal document, is so illegal that Bernie Madoff is serving time for it.

And there would be, if proper investigations ever took place (in some fantasy world called The Place Where Obvious Crimes That Statists Do Get Investigated By Anyone At All), more that FIFTY of those “ONE THING”s.

  32. While I believe Obama is guilty of impeachable offenses (e.g., for contempt of court, violation of the War Powers Act), he will NOT be convicted by a Democrat contyrolled Senate. Won’t happen. And, furthermore, recall the adage to “never would a prince”; surviving an impeachment attempt will strengthen him by weakening his opponents, and energize his base in the deal..

  33. In response Obama announced his plans to increase gas and emissions standards for work trucks. Notice that work trucks imply that people have work. No worries from Obama supporters on that one.

  34. impeachment is not going to happen. people should stop wasting energy on it and focus on having an honest election in 2012. worry about voter fraud, its the only way he gets re-ekected.

Back when our nation’s guiding principle was adherence to LAW. And when most people followed that principle.

    (In accordance with GOD’S WILL.)

Those were FAR different times. We are living postmodernism, where nothing means anything, and anything can mean anything.

“…depends on what the meaning of the word ‘is’ is…” –William Jefferson Clinton

When Gallatin was ousted, there (guessing here) weren’t riots, nor were there many who didn’t subsequently say, “Yup. Law is law. He was not in accordance. The ruling was good.”

THAT is what — at one seemingly long-ago time — made America great.

  41. Unfortutantely being a lying, incompetent, arrogant imbecile is not really grounds for impeacment, although I see alot of what Obama does as Treasonous. Bill Clinton Lied directly to the congress and he survived impeacment.
If anyone is really serious about getting rid of Obama thay need to look into the whole fradualent Social Security Number Fiasco and what many seem to agree is a forged birth certificate. Someone with clout in the Congress needs to get on board with Orly Taitz and Jerome Corsi and prove this lowlife Obama is a complete Fraud. The whole social security fraud thing is not only an impeacable offense, it’s a jailable offense. I rember telling my wife that Obama may end up being the first President ever removed from the white house in handcuffs. It could happen. To me the Social Security Number thing in inexpicable, but nobody does anything about it. It’s a slam dunk. Just another sign that we no longer have a free press. They should be all over it.

  45. I prefer secession.

  46. Stop teasing us!

  47. If there are any grounds for impeachment, they would be Fast & Furious. Violating the federal gun sale laws is a felony. Conspiracy to cover it up could take down Justice, Homeland Security, BAFTE, and the FBI. Anyone involved in violations of the law resulting in the death of Brian Terry could make them accessories to murder of a law enforcement officer.

We should focus on a veto proof majority in both houses of Congress.

  48. OT: It’s not enough for Barry and his Band of Boobs to destroy our lives and livelihood:

People are going hungry, pulling their children out of school due to poverty, and joining criminal gangs to make ends meet in the poorest region of the Congo, the world’s second-poorest country. Residents of this African nation attribute this economic devastation to what they call “the Obama Law” — provisions of the 2010 Dodd-Frank financial “reform” law backed by Obama that have created a virtual embargo on minerals produced in the Congo’s desperately-poor mining towns.

  49. Clinton was impeached. Didn’t get him out any faster. Does anyone think he will resign like Nixon did? I don’t. The man is too far convinced of his own godhood to admit that he is in the wrong. I completely agree with Arch – focus on the elections.

  50. Concur with numerous above; Obama’s actual crimes are too submerged, likely absent sufficient evidence, and such an attack would likely fail. Worse yet, it deprives America a necessary learning experience: Obama is the penultimate face of Progressivism.

It’s going to hurt, as many of us expected when the majority of our fellow citizens decided on this ideology out of their childish hatred of frat boy Bush, and/or the disgust with the tired, uncharismatic, “bitter beer face” grumpy grandpa McCain.

They threw their emotional temper-tantrum, and to be fair, the Republican Party did as much if not more to engineer an electoral failure given their continued running of unelectable moderates. Most middle class folk, and even a few lower class that I know, understand that it’s going to take some damn creativity to get out of the mess both parties created. As such, it’ll take an outsider (which Obama was packaged and marketed as), someone with energy (which Grandpa McCain had none of in spite of his occasional and bizarre attacks on conservatives), youthful (no further comment needed), and motivational. I’d conjecture further that they’re increasingly seeking a post-modern candidate — one who signifies difference from stale old country club pedigreed white men.

Just like the girl who goes after a slick player, only to get pretty abused, beat up, cheated on, and discovered the guy “borrowed” all her credit cards and maxed out her debt, only to bring other girls over to her place for fun, hang out shootin’ hoops with the boys, and drinking and “doing other stuff” all the time, she doesn’t need a fat older white dude to come in and tell her she’s wrong and try to evict the player. She’s gotta realize the crap she got herself into. This is progressivism’s friendly face. You don’t want to see its angry face.

  51. Some of the biggest crackpots in the Congress — from both parties — are physicians.

Perhaps the nation’s health is better served by having these clowns not practice medicine.

  52. The case for impeachment requires a high crime or misdemeanor. Disagreements over policy do not qualify. Further, impeachment proceedings take time and energy. While I certainly think the Fast & Furious investigation should proceed, I haven’t heard yet about a criminal connection to the White House.

The cheaper, faster, more effective remedy will be the upcoming elections.

Candidates. We need non-Democratic candidates that are vetted, reasonable people. The Democrats need to lose the White House and control of the Senate, and fail to take control of the House.

If the Tea Parties stick to their core issues, namely, the economy, they can push the next election. Then, they will have to work with the Republicans, who are the only national party right now willing to acknowledge listening to them.

  53. i thought his libya war was an impeachable offense too. how come the republicans are allowing this? libya was not a direct threat to our security so he is violating the constitution.

  54. I just heard that some of the Democrat Senator’s have been picked for the “super committee”. They are Max Bachas, Patty Murry, and John Kerry!! My god! The leftists are already overflowing. Wasn’t it Bachas who was the author of some bad bill that came up before Obama was elected, like, Cap and Trade or something, or…..damn! I wish I could remember.

    What was it people?

  55. Can’t we just make him emperor of Sierre Leone?

  56. While I appreciate a representative finally stating the obvious and that the rep is a Texan, it’s too little too late. The impeachment process taking as long as it does, his term would reach completion before impeachment would. Besides, as was the case with Clinton, this Demonrat Senate wouldn’t vote to remove him once impeached, anyway.

Since Burgess must know this is well as I do, I’m now wondering if his term is up next year and his tough talk is nothing more than fodder for his 2012 campaign for reelection.

  57. The response to this is the same one you gave the idiots who demanded impeachment of Bush a few years ago. The US Constitution only allows this for specific and definite behavior: high crimes and misdemeanors. Not “this guy really sucks at his job” not “I hate him” and not “things are really getting lousy in the country.”

For people who supposedly love and want to follow the constitution Republicans are pretty lousy at it sometimes. We conservatives are supposed to be better at this. Want Obama out of office? That’s why we have an election every 4 years.

  58. Impeachment would be an answer to prayer, but beware — He probably will refuse to leave office just like presidents in third world countries do sometimes. The constitution and the law mean nothing to him. Even if he’s not re-elected, he may refuse to give up his power and position any way he possibly can.

  59. High crimes and misdemeanors is a phrase from Section 4 of Article Two of the United States Constitution: “The President, Vice President and all civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.”

“High” in the legal parlance of the 18th century means “against the State”. A high crime is one which seeks the overthrow of the country, which gives aid or comfort to its enemies, or which injures the country to the profit of an individual or group. In democracies and similar societies it also includes crimes which attempt to alter the outcome of elections. That is just the Wikipedia summary.

Do you think that Obama has done anything which seeks to overthrow the country. Hell, he campaigned on a platform to overthrow the country. He just called it “Fundamental Transformation”. Framed in that way, everything he and the rest of his cabal have done or failed to do could be construed as a “high crime and misdemeanor. Take your pick.

    flashback to March 20, 2011

    House Democrats:
Obama’s War ‘Unconstitutional’, Call for Impeachment

[A hard-core group of liberal House Democrats is questioning the constitutionality of U.S. missile strikes against Libya, with one lawmaker raising the prospect of impeachment during a Democratic Caucus conference call on Saturday.

Reps. Jerrold Nadler (N.Y.), Donna Edwards (Md.), Mike Capuano (Mass.), Dennis Kucinich (Ohio), Maxine Waters (Calif.), Rob Andrews (N.J.), Sheila Jackson Lee (Texas), Barbara Lee (Calif.) and Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D.C.) “all strongly raised objections to the constitutionality of the president’s actions” during that call, said two Democratic lawmakers who took part.

Kucinich, who wanted to bring impeachment articles against both former President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney over Iraq — only to be blocked by his own leadership — asked why the U.S. missile strikes aren’t impeachable offenses.

And liberals fumed that Congress hadn’t been formally consulted before the attack and expressed concern that it would lead to a third U.S. war in the Muslim world.

While other Democratic lawmakers have publicly backed Obama — including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and top members of the Armed Services, Foreign Affairs and Intelligence committees — the objections from a vocal group of anti-war Democrats on Capitol Hill could become a political problem for Obama, especially if “Operation Odyssey Dawn” fails to topple Libyan leader Muammar Qadhafi, leads to significant American casualties, or provokes a wider conflict in the troubled region of North Africa.]

Just so Christopher knows, when libturds demanded GW Bush be impeached, I never defended him by pointing out that he’d committed no crimes. Instead, I simply laughed at them because he’d done nothing – neither high crime nor misdemeanor (“misdemeanor” being behavior and actions not befitting the POTUS as the Framers of the US Constitution meant) – for which to be impeached. From invading Iraq to overspending, he did nothing without the support of Congress, including Demonrats in Congress.

you defined two birds (so to speak) with one stone, well done!!

    btw..

Education czar Duncan rules by decree, not law

Unfortunately, Obama’s penchant for governing either by selective enforcement of federal laws or using regulatory action to circumvent them is not limited to education policy. Obama has ignored the War Powers Act, declined to defend the Defense of Marriage Act, trampled on long-established bankruptcy laws to bail out Chrysler, failed to enforce anti-voter fraud laws, defied a federal judge’s order to allow offshore oil drilling, and refused to enforce our nation’s immigration laws.

In Federalist 47, James Madison wrote: “The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive, and judiciary, in the same hands, whether of one, a few, or many, and whether hereditary, self-appointed, or elective, may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny.” Duncan’s NCLB waiver plan will make him the judge, jury and executioner of national education policy. This is exactly the type of government action our Constitution was designed to prevent.]

All Rinos in Congress and the Senate need to be removed. If we had Conservatives in the House, Obama would have been cut off at the knees. This group of Rinos will never impeach Obama and he knows it. In my Opinion these elected officials are as complicit as Obama.
