Treasury Secretary Geithner Will Keep His Job At President’s Request

Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner will keep his job at the president’s request.
Reuters reported:
Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, who had considered stepping down after the government borrowing limit was raised, will remain at his post at President Barack Obama’s request, the administration said on Sunday.
“The president asked Secretary Geithner to stay on at Treasury and welcomes his decision,” White House spokesman Jay Carney said in a statement.
Geithner had indicated he might leave after a debt-ceiling increase was approved, but administration officials signaled that both Obama and the White House chief of staff had urged him not to leave now.
The high-stakes drama over the debt ceiling increase, which brought the world’s biggest economy to the brink of default, has given way to a new set of concerns after ratings agency Standard & Poor’s downgraded U.S. debt late on Friday.
“Secretary Geithner has let the president know that he plans to stay on in his position at Treasury,” Assistant Treasury Secretary Jenni LeCompte said. “He looks forward to the important work ahead on the challenges facing our great country.”
Debt crises on both sides of the Atlantic have escalated in recent days. European officials were struggling to prevent financial turmoil from spreading from the periphery to core economies such as Italy’s, while officials in Washington will seek to minimize fallout from the debt downgrade.

Geithner must have taken a look at the miserable job market that this administration has produced with its idiotic and destructive policies.
I see Peggy Noonan has finally come around in recent weekend pieces in the WSJ. She was enamored of His Suprimeness early on, but she has now come to the same conclusion that I did three years ago: Obama is a left-wing ideologue and a platitude-spouting blowhard. Funny how so many smart people couldn’t see that which was, to me, pefectly obvious.

Nobody with any self respect would want to be identified with this debacle and restricted to only actions that obama approved. He is closing the wealth gap by destroying the wealth not by raising the poor. No matter how much wealth he redistributes the poor will just squander it and in the end be no better off. I looked carefully into that whole issue with his tax return. He had received a specific letter, from, I believe his company, telling him that he had to report that income/perk on his tax returns. (Can’t remember the details now.)
More than one letter, I believe. None of us would be so stupid as to somehow overlook what we were specifically told by our company that we had to pay taxes on.
He blames Turbo Tax. Listen, that excuse wouldn’t fly for me in front of the IRS, let alone someone like him. Only an idiot could “overlook” that tax due.
He cheated, period. And thought he could get away with it.
And we got him for Secretary of the Treasury. I knew it was all rigged then.

As a Self Employed American, Geithner had a tax liability for FICA etc. The IMF, gave him a check to make him WHOLE vs OTHER EMPLOYEES with their NATIONS TAX IMPLICATIONS. Geithner pocketed the money, 2 years running if memory serves me. He took monies ear marked to pay a TAX LIABILITY and put it in his own pocket.

When he was born, his mother named him Lieutenant Quarles Harris, Jr. He wasn’t in the military or law enforcement or whatever. So, I don’t think abbreviating his first name to “Lt.” is correct or appropriate.

That’s the phrase that determines the job duration of *every* single presidential appointee that takes office. If the president does not want you as that appointee any more, for *any* reason including he just does not like your face, he can fire you right then, on the spot, and you have no recorse whatsoever. No reason needs to be given, and only if the president is feeling generous does he need to go through the normal “Wants to spend more time with his family” routine. (Which normally will be done as not to make the upcoming book any more vicious)
If the president wants Little Timmy to go, he’s gone. But who would he use for a scapegoat then?
* Exceptions are for any Republican President who dares to fire US Attorneys, which is somehow Evil.
