Conservative Liz Cheney discussed Obama’s confused press conference appearances from last week on FOX News Sunday. Liz believes that Obama is out of step with America. She added, “This isn’t capitalism.”

On a recent trip back east, I encountered a young black woman who noticed my anti-Obama bumper sticker while I was filling my gas tank. She commented approvingly of the sticker, and wished that she was allowed to say such things herself, in public. She told me that, if one is black, you are not permitted to disapprove of Obama or the liberalism that is destroying the black community. She learned from her mother to think independently, and continues to do so, while keeping her mouth shut.
I wonder if she is so much the exception. I hope not.
It’s a shame that so much potential is stifled by the chains of political correctness and peer pressure. Apparently, if one is black, one must think a certain way and subscribe to certain beliefs, no matter how destructive, or face ostracism by friends, family and community. No wonder our country is in so much trouble.
Guy in Ohio commented:

point #1; the reason is very simple and you know it – the money for these things has been squandered on vote buying amongst the Cargo Culters of our country. Trillions have been washed down the sewer of welfare to no great effect other than destroying the black culture of family, church, and work. Now it’s being used to bribe the illegals from south of the border to the same effect.
Once again, conservatives have been trying for decades to reverse this but the tide of politics has been in favor of a kleptocracy creating a Cargo Cult society. That has gone hand in hand with destroying the work ethic and enjoyment of and belief in a deep religious principle. All of that is part of the plan of the Leninists and Marxists. Our American culture must be destroyed before a dependency culture of Socialism leading the fascism can be brought about. QED.

point #2; where is the magic money supposed to come from to do this trillion dollars worth of work? Taxes are money taken away from those who earned it to do something they probably wouldn’t have done at that time without coercion. With the economy on its butt where is this excess capital supposed to come from? Tax the rich? That assumes they would stand still for it. Bad assumption. Try reading history. Real history.
Infrastructure repair, replacement, and creation is only non harmful to the economy when the economy is in a heated growth stage. That would generally be a GDP growth of 5+% and an employment of <= 5.5%. At that point you are collecting excess revenues over cost of government and you use it to build up 'permanent' societal goods like bridges and roads and clean up environmental bad spots, etc. To grab the money away from the public when the economy is down takes needed capital away from private investment in goods and services. The government doing it merely moves money from pocket A to pocket B. The public uses it to create new clothes with altogether new pockets – Microsoft, AMD Microdevices, Google, etc.
If we'd dumped EPA, Dept. of Energy, Dept. of Education, subsidies of all kinds, etc., then there would be enough money at this time to use or credit available to borrow for your purpose. We're wa-a-a-a-ay past that point. Obumbles has dumped close to FOUR TRILLION borrowed dollars into the sewer with no positive results. How many road and bridges would THAT have built, hmmm?
The conservatives on this and other blogs have been screaming for decades about this and apparently you've been elsewhere as you accuse us of not ringing in on it. Stuff and nonsense. Away with you, Paulist sock puppet.

returning to point #3; the Constitution does not enjoin any particular economic approach for America as a country. However, Capitalism tempered by the rule of law is now and always has been the most productive way to do things. Capitalism shares opportunity to succeed. Socialism shares poverty of freedom and lowers lifestyles to the lowest common denominator.
Before you or someone else rings in with Scandi success stories you have to be sure to note that they have been living large on magic money – North Sea Oil. Much like the Spanish of the 16th and 17th centuries, this is not generated by your economy and not much used to build a self sustaining income. And just like the Spaniards as the oil starts declining so will their ever so ‘wonderful’ socialism scheme. I grant you it’ll take a while, but it will just as surely happen. The Germans and others are already backing away from the Nanny State concept as their treasuries evaporate trying to keep up the fat lifestyles of lazy people. If not, they become Greece and Britain. When they hit the wall the Cargo Culters go mad like petulant children demanding candy. They won’t be denied even if there’s no money. QED.

Radegunda commented:
chuck in st. paul — exactly right. The Democrat agenda depends on convincing 51% (or more) of the electorate that they are getting something at the expense of the other 49% (or less). Democrats aim to create conditions where a majority believe they can’t survive without the largesse funneled to them by Democrats in government.
Obama’s threat to withhold Social Security checks if he doesn’t get his way is part of the diabolical strategy. So is the Democrat policy of making health care available only by specific government permission.
The money that’s forcibly extracted from the producers is filtered through the vast, well-paid, Democrat-staffed bureaucracy. Democrats want a large class of lazy bureaucrats that always votes Democrat.
Meanwhile, the super-rich, many of whom are living large on inherited wealth, can protect their wealth from Democrat-imposed taxation so they keep funding Democrats with their millions and thus keep the middle class down.
Democrats don’t give much thought to how the wealth they extract in taxes is generated in the first place — maybe because so many of the wealthy Democrat funders are the kind who are rich by luck rather than effort.
WillofLa commented:
I hate the fact that Hannidy has all these liberal friends. I can’t stand Juan Williams and I believe that he is a detrament to the conservative message that Hannidy claims is his message. I know this wasn’t Hannidy, but a Sunday news show. But Juan Williams is and has always been a hard core leftist who has no business on a conservative show. But I believe that Hannidy has more control over what goes out on Fox than you might think. He makes millions for Fox, don’t think he dosen’t, and if you make that kind of money for your network then they are going to let you have a say about what programing they run.
I have listened to Hannidy for years. But there was something bothering me for awhile about him that I just couldn’t put my finger on. And the whole Fox News group as well. But about Hannidy, I figured out what it was that was troubling me about what he does on his radio show and his TV show and that is, Hannidy is a debater…period. He may call himself a “conservative” and is a member of the Conservative Party of New York, but he’s not as conservative on all issues as he pretends he is. Much of his stand is for the sake of “debate”, not that he would stand elbow to elbow with you in a shoot out with attackers. Or the government, whichever comes first. Hannidy has all these hardcore leftist so-called “friends” he has on his radio and TV shows all the time. He does this so that he can have these debates with them about current issues concerning this country.
People like Juan Williams, Bob Beckel, Democrat campaign advisors, and various other liberals he invites on his show are voices that America doesn’t need to hear…ever. But it makes for good radio and TV doesn’t it? But when he brings these people on his program he gives liberals a voice so that they can spread their poison about freedom, liberty, and only the American way of life, our customs, our traditions, and things like our flag and our language. These people don’t deserve to have a voice at a time when it was them who have caused all the problems this country is having. They’ve been at it for over 50 years. Their intent is to destroy this nation and support anyone who is in office who has the power to do exactly that. They don’t care about Hannidy’s opinion or the opinion of any conservatives who are on the program with Hannidy. And Hannidy has the attitude that a person’s political stands and view points are separate from who they are. He believes that people should keep their political beliefs separate from how they feel about other people who are different politically from them, and just be friends. I believe that a person who believes in our Constitution and our nation cannot ever separate, if that is even possible, from the rest of who they are. Hannidy believes that it’s okay to invite these people over to his house and be all friendly with them, and Hannidy says that Beckle is this “good Christian”. I believe that you can’t be a liberal and be the kind of Christian that can be recognized as being Christ like. Jesus was not a liberal. He was a conservative. He was all about caring for someone who asks for help, but also didn’t have a problem with private ownership of property, in His words about not coveting another man’s donkey, for it belongs to the other man, not you. If you steal it, that’ is wrong. Private property ownership is a conservative idea, not liberal. Liberals believe that you should give you property to other people just because they don’t have what you have. Jesus firmly believed in working for what you want, in the parable about the father who went on a long journey and gave his sons a portion of their inheritance. One son started a business and grew what he got greatly. If that is not making money for yourself then I don’t know what is. Liberals don’t believe that you should be able to start your own business so you can make money for yourself. They believe you should be taken care of by the government and turn all your money over to them so that it can be given to the poor. That makes you poor and now everyone is “equal”, yeah, equally miserable.
Hannidy is supposed to be this practicing Catholic. Well, that’s fine, I don’t have a problem with that. But it’s the Catholic Church that is supporting all the illegal Mexican aliens coming into the United States. He dosen’t support open borders but he doesn’t support deportation of the thirty million who are here causing trouble. And other things.
But I don’t like to hear Juan Williams spueing his leftist poison on any show, I don’t care what he doesn’t belong on any conservative program. Hannidy thinks as long as he has liberals on his radio and TV program, if the Democrats ever passed the Fairness Doctrine, he would be exempt. Sorry Hannidy, it doesn’t work that way.

tax the rich “Democrats” wealth trivia..
flashback to 2007:
Democrats wake up to being the party of the rich
[The decision by Senate majority leader Harry Reid, the Nevada Democrat, surprised many Washington insiders, who saw the plan as appealing to the spirit of class warfare that infuses the Democratic party. Liberal disappointment in Mr Reid was palpable at media outlets such as USA Today, where an editorial chastised: "The Democrats, who control Congress and claim to represent the middle and lower classes, ought to be embarrassed."
Far from embarrassing, this episode may reflect a dawning Democratic awareness of whom they really represent. For the demographic reality is that, in America, the Democratic party is the new "party of the rich". More and more Democrats represent areas with a high concentration of wealthy households. Using Internal Revenue Service data, the Heritage Foundation identified two categories of taxpayers - single filers with incomes of more than $100,000 and married filers with incomes of more than $200,000 - and combined them to discern where the wealthiest Americans live and who represents them.
Democrats now control the majority of the nation's wealthiest congressional jurisdictions. More than half of the wealthiest households are concentrated in the 18 states where Democrats control both Senate seats.]
flashforward to 2011:
Democrats, the Rich Party
[Democrats beat the market by 73 basis points per month, compared
to 18 for Republicans. That’s a rout anyway you look at it. Senators
fare even better than house members.]

Chisum commented:
Raising taxes on the rich does not increase tax revenue because the rich will do whatever it takes to avoid paying the higher rates. In fact, the amount of tax revenue has been about 18.5% year in and year out since World War II no matter what the highest tax rate on “the rich” was. (Scroll down to the “History” subhead to see the graph of revenues as a percentage of GDP since World War II.) And those rates have been as high as 94%. Raise it. Lower it. Whatever, you’re still gonna collect about 18.5% of the GDP. If you want more tax revenue, raise the GDP

The liberal case against race-based affirmative action
[Webb's intervention is a reminder that, from the 1970s until the mid-1990s, there was a lively debate over race-based affirmative action between integrationist or "colorblind" liberals and liberals of the "identity politics" school. Most of the liberal critics of race-based policy were pro-labor liberals and social democrats, while many of its defenders were found among neoliberals, who favored inexpensive symbols of racial progress even as they sought to deregulate the economy, slash welfare and shrink the government.
In the late 1990s, after the Clinton administration announced its affirmative action policy -- "Mend it, don't end it" -- the editors of liberal journals and other gatekeepers of progressive orthodoxy declared abruptly that the debate was over. Young progressives entering politics in the last decade may not even know that there were and are liberals who oppose race-based affirmative action and that their ranks included Bayard Rustin, who organized Martin Luther King Jr.'s 1963 March on Washington. (Rustin was a gay black social democrat; so much for the claim that only conservative white males oppose race-based public policies.)]
imo discussing affirmative action in and of itself, is

They leave their money in the businesses and in the Stock market, only taking profits when necessary. This allows Corporations to spend more $$ on R&D and capital expenditures, creating more jobs, which creates demand for more products, more innovation, etc….THis also answers the question of Why did the middle class grow in a stable manner when these tax rates are higher? You conflate water boarding with what the Japs did during WW II??? WTF? are you really that ignorant? I think not. I believe you are a Paulist and you have badly beclowned yourself with that final comment piled on top of your economicly idiotic remarks. As far as posting links to the general feelings of the conservative posters here concerning earmarks and subsidies… do your own bloody homework.
You own three businesses… yeah, what are they – Amway, Avon, and Mary Kay distributorships? Being a Paulist perhaps one of them is drug dealing.
Enough troll. Return to your bridge and stop bothering the adults.

Of course it’s not. It’s O’s plan to finish off the USA.

BG I couldn’t possibly represent you. I mean I don’t have to chew through restraints to start vomiting forth this PC nonsense each day. I don’t pretend to be be the supreme source of wisdom and knowledge. But this is a sympton of leftwingnutism.
What makes you think you’re a conservative? I’m sorry if I missed out of any of your associates at the DU? Oh yes abortionists, affirmative action community rable rousers, and all the welfare clients braying their outrage at their lack of freebies and all the rest of the loser fringe.
Now lecture us how Obama stands forthrightly against these groups. Do tell us about that high and mighty principle you stand for. Scum remains scum and you can tell them by the fruit they bear. And you do represent exactly that.
Its nice to see so many people here agreeing with you. But then again, its the world that’s out of step with you. Everyone else is evil and bigoted. You sound just like Chairman Obamao.

my problem is with immature sounding people who “personally attack
others” via racist, sexual, religious, or political undertones vs attacking
the racist, sexual, religious, or political “issue” like a grown up..
